The way to lessen abortion is to change people minds.

Or educate people. That, however, might infringe on someone's 'right' to be ignorant. Plus, it's much harder.

Maybe planned parenthood will put up some money ? It will be difficult to film a commercial with 10 days to go though.

However, equal time should be given to both sides. Its about a woman's choice... not one woman's choice being the only one for everyone.

But not for free. She's paying for the ad time.

A group called...Focus on the Family.. is paying for the time. not the mother.

OK... well then they're paying for the time... If a pro abortion group wants to air one, I am sure they can providing the scheduled the time and paid for it. As most ads a scheduled months ahead of time, I don’t know if they can at this date but more power to them if they can.

Of course, going up head to head against a celebration of Life might not be in their best interest.

servantforuse -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 7:54:40 PM)

I have no problem with them running an opposing view. I just wonder what they might be opposed to ? Choice ?

NBC denied the spot. CBS has yet to agree to run the ad. Since most are booked, as you said, months in advance, there may not be room for another. Who knows. As far as it being a head butting campaign against the "celebration of Life"... women dont see it that way. An ad intended to place guilt in women who have had abortions could very well backfire.... and in very unpleasant ways.

Yes.
You raise a good point. Why are the leftists angry that she didn't abort him? Her love of life must be what irritates them, her piety and love for Christ Jesus must strike fear and loathing into their dark Satanic souls.

Well...that, plus the fact that NBC rejects issue oriented ads, no matter how mild or well spoken. They reject all issue ads, except this one. This one that explicitly advocates repealing a legal right that is the law of the land.

So that might be one reason the dirty commies have their knickers in a twist.
That and their dark Satanic souls, of course.

You really are the business, Animus... I think your Republican past makes you all the more amazing. I'm in love with your posts, for what it's worth.

servantforuse -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 8:08:08 PM)

Why would they feel guilty ? It is a womans choice isn't it ?

tazzygirl -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 8:10:30 PM)

Since you are not a woman, you could not possibly understand.

kittinSol -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 8:10:40 PM)

Yes, it is a woman's choice. A woman is legally protected should she make that choice, and so are the medical professionals who accompany her in that decision. Hallelujah!

Really... that's funny, I guess Tebow's mother isn't a woman then.

Tazzy... first the ad is aimed at women who have not had their abortion yet in an attempt to talk them out of it.

But getting back to "women don't see it that way" broadstroke... 100's of millions of women are opposed abortion and will absolutely see this ad as a celebration of life.

tazzygirl -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 8:40:09 PM)

well, since the US has a population of 300 million, give or take a few 10 million, your statement is incorrect in its number. And even more so in its assumption that those who are opposed to personally having an abortion are also opposed to having the FREEDOM to do with their bodies as they wish, and as the law allows. IF your assumption was correct, overturning Roe would be a no brainer.

An attempt to talk them out of a decision they are entitled to make on their own, for reasons that are all their own. Who has the right to talk a woman out of such a decision? Are you going to support her and take care of her when she caves in and does as the "life celebrating" singers go about their merry way? Of course not. No one will.

DomKen -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 9:06:20 PM)

My only problem is that CBS rejected a pro gay marriage ad for the last Super Bowl they broadcast. It was produced by a church group and was deemed too controversial. This ad is definitely controversial and produced by a religious group and should be rejected as well.

tazzygirl -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 9:15:32 PM)

I believe in freedom of speech.... but not when that speech stifles the voices of over half the pupulation and their beliefs.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/26/2010 10:29:20 PM)

So you do not favor Freedom of Speech then.

Lay out for me the possible ad copy for an opposing advertisement to the Tebow ad. I want to see them dress up abortion for prime time consumption.

It's entirely possible that the ad is an appeal to women who may be pregnant and considering abortion but have not made up their minds without trying to trample the rights guaranteed in the Constitution (cough) of any other women who choose to have an abortion.

So you've seen it? Have a link to it that you can share with the rest of us? Or maybe you're just telepathic.

Oh yes that annoying kid from Florida that made me happy every time they lost so that I would not have to watch his pious mug on television after the game.

I predict he becomes a preacher.

More likely a Senator or Governor.

Or the guy who lives in a cardboard box underneath the bridge.

Jeffff -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/27/2010 4:54:04 PM)

Tim Tebows Mom had a choice.  I think THAT is the point.

Jeff

servantforuse -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/27/2010 5:10:54 PM)

Since Tim will probably be drafted by an NFL team early in the 1st, round. I am pretty sure that he also thinks that his mom made the right choice..Why would anyone object to that ? You tell me.
