We shall see. At least his mother gave 32 NFL teams the right to choose.

Let's hope most of them are smart enough pass.

servantforuse -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/27/2010 8:17:39 PM)

At least they can choose. Millions of unborn will never have that choice.

Estring -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/27/2010 8:24:15 PM)

Who is Tom Tebow?

It's an anti abortion spot highighting the fact that doctors advised Mrs. Tebow to abort Tom. So its anti abortion and encourages women to disregard their doctors medical advice. What part of that isn't controversial?

If the ad featured Mrs. Tebow and Tim and was a simple appeal to pregnant women who are considering abortion to reconsider their options you'd find that unacceptable and controversial? If it contained no mention of overturning Roe vs Wade or stopping women who do want abortions from having them you'd still find it unacceptable and controversial?

The reason the 'pro-choice' crowd does not approve of Mrs. Tebow's 'choice' is that they cannot stand toe to toe with their own advertisement. They cannot wrap that gruesome procedure up in a warm fuzzy 30 second commercial like the other side can and they know it. And they're up in arms about it.

For what it's worth I support the right to legal abortion. I would vote to keep it legal. I do not agree with the activist ruling found in Roe vs Wade, however. That is why I make the comments I do about the Constitutional right to abortion. I also object to people's objection to this advertisement based on it's concept, not it's content.

The ad is funded by Focus on the Family. That group opposes the right to choose for all women. The group provides no services to pregnant women. What purpose do you think they have for running the spot?

The fact remains that CBS previously rejected a pro gay marriage ad by a church as being controversial but has now accepted this ad.

Something about not arguing with idiots...etc etc just occurred to me so  I'm gonna pass on any further posting on this thread, but just one thing Servant...refer to post # 40, digest thoroughly, repeat as often as neccessary.

The same thing that would have pro-lifers in hysterics if Planned Parenthood ran a similar commercial.

A conga line of pregnant Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders in those cute cheer panties coaxing the crowd,

"Give me an A, give me a B, give me an O, give me an, an, ah, Amber, help me here, what comes next?"

Yes hysterical indeed.

Well, you see, hysteria and hysterical have many different meanings, and you are referring to only one of them which I did not intend.

Here is something to help you out on those tricky little words, English can be a very difficult language to learn:

hys⋅ter⋅i⋅cal

–adjective

1.
of, pertaining to, or characterized by hysteria.
2.
uncontrollably emotional.
3.
irrational from fear, emotion, or an emotional shock.
4.
causing hysteria.
5.
suffering from or subject to hysteria.
6.
causing unrestrained laughter; very funny

So I guess that we know what we have always known. Doctors are wrong. Doctors make mistakes.Again she made a choice for life. This bothers pro abortion folks ?. Choice is good when they agree with the choice a woman makes. Otherwise I guess it's the wrong choice..

No, it bothers me that she is turning it into a political football.  (pun intended)

the mind boggles. This one woman is turning what has been the pre-dominant "single issue" platform for decades into a political football.

No one is surprised anymore when your mind gets boggled.

Odd that Ive never seen widespread objections to a Planned Parenthood ad.

More RML bullshit.

You mean McCain supporters never objected to the Planned Parenthood ads about his position on the issue?

Do I really need to embarrass you again Willbeur or do you think you can find the time to do your own research before you put your foot in your mouth yet again?

Planned Parenthood

While the McCain camp does not comment on third-party ads, Republican National Committee spokesman Danny Diaz said, “Planned Parenthood’s ad is a vicious smear against Senator McCain and Governor Palin. This ad is patently false and represents the worst kind of politics."

You couldnt embarass me in a million years, you dont have the intellect to. As usual you are attacking something I didnt say

There is a difference between objecting to an ad misrepresenting a politicians position on an issue and objecting to an ad that puts forth someones own position.

Show me widespread objection to the numerous ads that planned parenthood runs about their own products, services and policies. Then you'll be responsive to what I said.

Jeffff -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/28/2010 7:31:15 AM)

Tim Tebow will never be a starting quarter back in the NFL.  No matter how pure of heart he is.

tazzygirl -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/28/2010 8:56:09 AM)

First, i never said the ad was bad. Celebrating life is a wonderful choice... one i made myself and never regretted.

Second, my position is that this is being funded by a group that wishes to remove that choice from all women. Last poll i saw on abortion revealed 75% agreed with abortion on some level.

Planned Parenthood also believes in counseling to keep the baby, or even adoption. To believe they are only about abortion is silly.

Last, CBS has made it past policy to deny such ads that may lead to controversy. I do hope it is tastefully done. If not, the backlash could be horrendous.

As a woman, i agree its all about choices... the right to chose to keep or abort, to put it bluntly. i applaud this woman and her decision so many years ago. and i have mo issue with her running her ad. However, equal time should be given to both sides. Its about a woman's choice... not one woman's choice being the only one for everyone.

If the Pro Abortion peeps want to run an ad, all they have to do is pony up the $5 mil like everyone else.

kittinSol -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/28/2010 9:46:01 AM)

Absolutely nobody is pro-abortion. Nobody promotes it as if it were a desirable thing, and something to be aspired to. Get some education, for fucksake. \

Although now that I think of it, I just had some wicked cool ideas for some pro-abortion commercials [:(] .

Yeah, we should always do what doctors say[8|]
quote:

-- There are 700,000 physicians in the United States.
-- There are 120,000 accidental deaths in the United States caused by physicians every year, and the accidental death percentage per physician is 0.171.
-- There are 80 million gun owners in the United States.
-- There are 1,500 accidental deaths from guns every year, regardless of age group, and the accidental death percentage per gun owner is 0.0000188.
This means, the letter points out, that doctors are 9,000 times more deadly than gun owners.

What do you know, this internet urban legend is true!

That sure is a purdy list, all typed out nice like an such, but you missed one lil point.

You never said "success", you said "starting QB", and you do realize that #16 on your list is playing in the Super Bowl next Sunday, dontcha?

Jeffff -> RE: Tom Tebow's Mom. (1/28/2010 10:18:43 AM)

Not a quarterback.
