It's not my fault I burned my legs when I placed a cup of hot coffee in my crotch to hold it while I drive, it's McDonald's fault for not telling me the coffee was so hot!  And people get rewarded for that thinking and behavior.  WTF!

What this has become is an urban myth that people keep repeating without knowing anything about the actual case.

Here is a link and an excerpt:

The Actual Facts about the Mcdonalds' Coffee Case

The trial court subsequently reduced the punitive award to $480,000 --
or three times compensatory damages -- even though the judge called
McDonalds' conduct reckless, callous and willful.

Thank you.  I'm glad the link you provided cleared up my misconception that the coffee had been placed between the legs and not between the knees and that it was held between the knees (not the crotch) in order to add condiments, not while driving. This fact made McDonalds 80% at fault for having hot coffee.  Thank you for providing me the facts.  I accept responsibility for my error and will not repeat it.

Fuck.

I have asked several times already but you seem uninterested in answering.
Why is it good idea to buy a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage?
Why is it a good idea to blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college?

You act like studying Law is hard or something. To be a good law student, all you need is the ability to retain facts from previous cases, and form opinions based on the results.

No, what you need are analytical skills and the ability to think logically.

It is not about rote memorization and forming what you call opinions, it is about making an argument based on codified law and legal precedent.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, but I'll make your day...

Uh yeah, ok.

So I guess you are also going to be dismissive of the fact McDonalds had 700 previous complaints about the coffee being too hot, the fact that any food served at that temperature would cause instantaneous severe burns, that there were previous suits settled out-of-court over the same issue, and the fact that a jury awarded a large settlement which was reduced but still amounted to nearly a half million dollars.

You did read the part about the coffee being 190 degrees?
You did read the part about how coffee is normally served at 135 degrees?
You did read the part where there were 700 documented cases of this happening?
You did read the part where McDonalds research showed that their customers begin to consume their coffee at the time of purchase?
How about a little responsibility on the part of McDonalds?

No.

Having comprehension and reading skills you would realize that the thread used the lastest negative reference made by the President concerning Vegas as an opening to discuss the possible disclosing of an agenda by doing so. Or the other choice would have been to illustration his stupidity for doing something which, as expected, generated negative feed back.

Glad to help you catch up and hope I cleared it up for you.

You believe:
"You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college." ~ President Obama
The president believes:
"You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college." ~ President Obama
So if you both believe the same thing then why are you pissed that he said it and you did not have the balls to?
It would appear to most that your anger should be directed at your own timidity.
If you agree with the president then why don't you say so instead of whining that he said something you believe in.
It is only an issue because you wish it to be an issue.
Vegas was in the tank before he said it and you can offer no demonstrable proof that his saying
"You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college." ~ President Obama
that anything changed in Vegas.

I would think that the agenda being disclosed would be, fiscal conservation.  That is, dont lower taxes and raise spending based on some magic it is going to be a winning combination, because it aint.

It was an comment that, for me, raised an issue worthy of discussing. Perhaps not on the elementary plain you perceived it, but personally, I have been pleasantly surprised to see a few understanding my intent.

For example: I would think that the agenda being disclosed would be, fiscal conservation. That is, don't lower taxes and raise spending based on some magic it is going to be a winning combination, because it ain't.

The only ones expressing their faux indignation are those who whish to see the tin hat conspiracy that you posit...the hidden agenda of that black man in the white house that you seem to despise so much who at the same time puts money in your pocket.
How ironic

That's so funny on so many levels, starting with the fact that I and Obama share the same racial background.

No President has ever put money in my pocket. I've done my best to keep it away from all of them since I started earning it.

I would never waste emotional energy "despising" anyone. That would demean me.

I appreciate your focus on me and mine - but you really should take up a hobby more suited to your abilities.

Loving life, and having a blast! As usual Lucy! Thanks!

Truth be told, (and keep this between us okay?) I sold my interest in my company this week. As of Tuesday I am working under 'contract' to the new owners. So it's actually been a VERY loud week, but CM, as always, provides a great opportunity for mental diversion.

That would be the human race. I did not say you were a racists I said you despised that black man in the white house as is evidenced by your many threads concerning him and his evil ways.

Not so, you have bragged excessively in this thread and in others how the president's policies and words put money in your pocket by causing the price of everything from art work to hotel rooms to plumet.

Since you decided my post had no other merit other than my error re the McDonalds case.... yeah, I'm being dismissive because it is my job as a consumer to do due dilligence and even I can feel through the styrofoam that the coffee is hot, really, really, hot and I do not see that as a potential payday.  Your insistance in pursuing this thread derailment simply proves the other part of my post, that we have become a society of Not My Fault and a generation of Finger Pointers.

Fuck.

Don't backtrack now thompson, you referenced and distinguished him as a "black man". BTW - My reference was on the specific not the macro racial reference. I don't know why you had to go there. I mean, if none other than the great MSNBC's commentator Chis Matthews represented "I forgot he was black" after the State of the Union address; why can't you?

Read closer - I see my gains coming despite the efforts of government. I do take advantage of the conditions they create, regarding room prices and the cost of certain assets. Why don't you? What you see as "bragging" I view as offering suggestions for others to do the same. Honestly, though I thought the Encore sucked. Although I did take advantage of reduced pricing and stayed in Encore's Salon suite, I much preferred the Bellagio's 'Penthouse' version and will be going back there the next time.

And thanks for reminding me - I need to get back to that dealer in Vegas about the Bill Mack. I hope the slight recovery in the stock market today doesn't make him increase his price.

Now if you had paid any attention when you were in college which you constantly remind us that you did not you would have known that there is only one race on this planet. Your wish to make a macro/mcro definition is just that a wish. It does not exist in reality.
So your concepts of race need to be reexamined in light of modern discoveries...(you know the twentieth century and all that)
