I saw folks already post that there were 3 pieces of it signed off for another year, not the whole thing.  But I'm sure not going to go shuffling through threads to find it (considering how many topics arise within a single thread).  It was probably 1-2 weeks ago.

When did Bush get warrants to kill guys in Pakastan or Afghanistan with drones?  Damn, I've seen Obama repeatedly bashed as being soft on terrorism, but when he cranks up the drone attacks, now he's Bush?

Personally I'd go for boots on the ground instead of drone attacks.  But that would be even more of a force escalation.  Another no-win.

That question's better asked the other way around. Why was the Patriot Act, etc, the end of the  world when it was Bush who signed off on it, but when Obama signs off on the same sort of thing it doesn't even make the news. Crickets are all you hear. We're expanding wars and using drones to destroy people without warrants, still more crickets.

Dude, if you raise a case I figure you're down with it.  If you think it's got a snowball's chance in Hel but use it as an example, I figured you'd put "for example".  After all, we got cucky around here and he's enamored of some wild and crazy shit.

AHHHH, at last we get someone who merely wants to argue for arguments sake and pit left vs right or whatever other such nonsense. Why is it some of you folks simply refuse to read and comprehend? I NEVER once indicated that I thought this would fly, or would ever happen. It it were to happen (God forbid), then hopefully the Oathkeepers will be of some positive influence. Why is that difficult for you to grasp thornhappy???

This statement does not indicate that you have any clear understanding of the "lead up to Hitler's power".
Perhaps you might be interested in Churchill's Role in that. It is easily available in print.
It is Churchill's six volumn tome on WWII

Here we go once again......

I would like to see the tome you are referring to,

It is called "World War II" by Winston Churchill. It is a six volumn set and is available in most any public library...I would not be surprised if it was available to read on line but for sure it is available at amazon.

I would like to see the tome you are referring to, nonetheless, I still stand by my previously stated opinion. And for the record, I also wished such an organization as the Oathkeepers were around while the Japanese were being rounding up here in the USA during WWII and placed in internment camps.

Oganisations like that were around at the time, though: the KKK made a big deal of burning crosses outside a couple of the internment camps, didn't they?

The system of government we have is not designed to foster rapid radical change. It's designed to ensure slow, gradual change. This is why big issues and big movements have often taken decades to have an effect. It's a deliberate design in the system. I believe you're seeing it at work now.

I completely agree, and this is exactly why I have no hope at all that this country will ever pull itself out of the mess we're in. The rest of the world is moving at the speed of the 21st Century, and we're still moving at the speed of the 18th Century. We have a built-in competitive disadvantage that puts us further behind the curve every year. As other countries react and adapt in real time to circumstances as they emerge, we're taking decades to solve (for example) the health care problems that other countries figured out and put to rest 10, 15, 30 years ago. The faster the rest of the world moves, the more slowly we move in comparison, and the further behind we fall.

I do not see a solution to this. "Throwing the bums out" every 2, 4, or 6 years - even if the voters actually do it, which I don't see any reason to believe they will actually do - just puts us even further behind, because while we're going back to Square One and cleaning house, China and India are pouring billions of dollars into Zhongguan Cun and modernizing their technological workforces. While we're still burning witches at the stake. I see no reason at all to believe that any of this is likely to change in any meaningful time frame.

This douchebag is the poster idiot for the left wing trash that have not got a clue... The left has been tearing its collective ass in protests and riots since the 60's and now that the consevative awakening is rising thruout the nation... why every one is an idiot.... It is going to be such fun watching the left get flushed down the political toilet, and that landslide is coming soon.... but what these lefties have not grasped, that this is the last dance for the 'progressive' movement.... it will be decades before any one of these turds will so much as win a primary.....  keep it up idiot....but come November, you will get a big dose of 'fuck you!' by the electorate, but even then you will be too stupid to get it.....

That progressives are dropping the ball is clear.

That conservatives have any answers has been proven wrong repeatedly for the past thirty years.

Sweetie, nobody who uses four full stops in an ellipsis and tosses a coin to see whether or not they use a capital letter at the start of the next word is in the best position to call anybody stupid with authority. At least domiguy types like English is his first language, dig?

What progressives? It's news to me that there's any in the Democrats.

Well that whole "progressives dropping the ball" bit did make it look like you were calling Obama a lefty. I thought it was only the teabaggers and/or people in armed militia camps like Chuck Norris who did that...

If my memory serves me correctly it was the army (national guard) that was at Kent State University and at Waco. They did not seem to have any trouble shooting American civilians

That's a very good point. I'm still thinking about this. Thank you for the insight.

Why would I or anyone else give a fuck as to who was responsible.
For the reading challanged :
I posted that The U.S. Army (national guard) would and did fire lethally at American citizens within the confines of the U.S.
You in an effort to get this discussion back to your constant partisan bullshit post the above nonsense.
For fucks sake grow up.

I think the point is that, no matter who was President, United States armed agents were willing to shoot and kill civilians.

As an aside, while Kent State was National Guardsmen, Waco was ATF and FBI agents - not United States Army. The tanks and equipment were loaned to the FBI by the military.

Not true. That is statutorily illegal.
The FBI lied to the governor to get her to declare a state of martial law which allowed her to actiavate the national guard (the army by any other name is still the army). The tanks were transported to Waco by the army. The army operated the tanks.
Do you really think that the FBI has trained tank crews that are up to speed on that particular piece of equipment?

You are correct. Having just looked into this - the Waco assault was led by the Combat Applications Group (i.e. Delta Force) out of Fort Bragg. President Clinton signed a waiver of the Posse Comitatus Act so that they could take part. I was wrong.

As I understand it, many of the FBI's elite units train with the Special Forces units (Delta, the SEALs, etc.) and a fair number of military personnel opt for the FBI when they get out - so it's not impossible that the FBI has agents who could drive a tank.
