chainedsinner -> RE: Screen names and RT (4/8/2006 7:53:21 PM)

personally, I chose my name for two reasons. 1. it (hopefully) lets others know i'm not a dom and 2. it should let people not in the lifestyle know i'm probably not their "type" lol Anyway, i don't reject others based on their nic, but a more original nic grabs my attention more quikly.

Now I'm wondering how many princes there are here. I was actually here (briefly) as just Sitri but I killed the profile because I was having problems with accessing the site, and I'm superstitious. If anyone's interested Sitri is a prince of the infernal hierarchy.

A pupil of Solomon? ;)

*meow*

I'm afraid you've lost me there!

WyrdRich -> RE: Screen names and RT (4/9/2006 8:15:22 AM)

Some nicks are going to make me pass on even reading a profile.  (MistressCastration isn't likely to hear from me).

Mine, and I use it widely across the net, is simply a statement of fact.  My name is Rich and I'm weird.  I use the Nordic spelling both to get easy access to the nick online and because in my studies of magick, the Norse system felt most natural to me.  It's possible that over the years, some have read it as WiredRich, assumed I was some sort of speed freak and passed me by.  Oh well.  I'd rather be judged by the words I post over my signature.

Misstoyou -> RE: Screen names and RT (4/9/2006 10:16:55 AM)

My screen name is an applicant IQ test. [:)]

feastie -> RE: Screen names and RT (4/9/2006 12:14:06 PM)

I have definitely rejected someone because of their screen name.  But, I'm thinking that most would reject a screen name such as seekingmotherdaughter4fun...

I've had a ton of screen names.  But I've used feastie or some derivative exclusively from the day it was given to me.  I've used it most every site I visit, since then, I've used it at local munches and parties.  It describes me quite well, and no, it doesn't mean "feast" in the traditional sense.

It is unique and it pleases me very much.

SenseofBelonging -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:04:08 AM)

i was in a conversation with Mistress (before She accepted my submission) and i mentioned that i imagined receiving a collar would give one a true sense of belonging. When She gave me my training collar, She renamed me SenseofBelonging.

knl4myplzr -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:20:26 AM)

hey all!  When a friend was recently creating a CM profile - we did a quickie poll of sub friends as to whether they would reply to "MizMeaniePants" - but apparently it was only cute & funny to us!!  While a few said that they would see the humor...more said they'd think she wasn't "serious."  Sheesh!  I didn't know we had to get all serious with the handles!  She's now "ScarletDomme"...that serious enough, lol?

Misstoyou - I love that you said its an applicant IQ test!!!  Yes!  I do sometimes get perplexed questions about "kennel for my pleaser"  ...and to think, I thought "Knl4MyPlzr=Kneel For My Pleasure" was a pretty easy one to decipher!!

twicehappy -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:29:55 AM)

I do tend to pass over nics that start with "Lord, Master, (apologizes to LAM here) Sir" only because to me they lack originality and i address no man whose collar i do not wear as master anything. To me it smacks too much of the theory i had expounded to me many times” all you need is a collar on your throat" which was most often followed by" now kneel before me lest i punish you". My immediate reaction is how? By sending me another arrogant email?

On the same note i tend to totally disregard any profile that includes names of body parts or include any words like cum, slut, pig etc.

Same for profile photos or first exchange of photos, I do not want to see nor am I going to show you body parts. Everybody has one of those in one form or another.

Basically i want to know the person first.

Dustyn -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:31:41 AM)

Since this is basically reality based, in terms of the things that I post and the posts being directly related to my opinions and/or experiences, I went with my first name... that, and I save the made-up names for my D&D characters... *shrug*

SweetSarijane -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:54:55 AM)

My nic is simple. My Father used to call me Sarijane and sweet, lol it's either serious or teasing depending on my mood. *grin*

becca333 -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 8:06:42 AM)

This isn't my nick, it's a pseudonick.

I have a nick that I've used for years, on quite a few sites.  I googled it one day (as one does) and it came up as being registered here.  Someone else used my nick!  Outrage!  I came here to investigate, and got interested (well, I'm not exactly a novice, but I'd never run across this site before).  I couldn't be bothered thinking up some clever nick (I have a limited number of clever thoughts in a day, the quota runs out quickly) so I used my name and can't be bothered changing.

I think of it as a public service - because my nick is so ordinary and dull, it makes the others look good.

No need to thank me, helping others is reward enough.

zumala -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 8:11:45 AM)

I distinctly remember posting a reply to this thread late last night, but now I can't find it.  Must have been up way too late and started hallucinating.  ;)

Anyway, zumala is an old character name, african in origin.  The character was a lioness (yes, I know I'm weird!) but she was small, thin, and had no self-esteem.  Sort of two sides of a coin, if you will.  Lionesses are thought of as strong and brave huntresses.  Thus zumala was a mix of inherent strength and self-imposed weakness.  Maybe it isn't an exact fit at this time in my life, but I've always liked the name and some of the points still work.  Yes, I'm shy.  I'm not a large person physically.  But there is strength inside, too.

BreakingGlass -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 8:47:36 AM)

The handle I use here isn't the handle I use on the few other sites I regularly visit.  Not that I didn't want to use it, but it's even longer than this one and it looked a little odd run together as one word.  [&:]

akisha -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 9:05:55 AM)

I have used 3 different username in the last 12 years.

When i was playing netmec and diablo i used quebie  (dirivitive of queen bitch)
I began using akisha about 8 years ago because too many people started using quebie. I went from being the only one on ICQ to having 18 followers at last check a year and a half ago.
the one i use once in a while on sites where i can't use my first two is myphious.

I like originality and don't want to be like anyone else or be a number.

denika -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 11:43:16 AM)

denika is not so much a nic as the name I assumed and am called by those in my life. Rob and I  though about names for a bit and he liked this one, it also has a meaning behind it. The name is croation and translates to 'morning star'  lol Rob said he liked the duel meanings *s* Either it can mean the  first and brightest star in the  sky or  if any of you are up on your theology it's the name of lucifer before he fell from grace *S*  I think he was trying to tell me something with that *s*

Dunno...thinking mine makes me sound like a biker...Oh no.

Good thing you picked that nic Master mine, being so fond of scooter trash in the first place your name sucked me right in. It actually seduced me into emailing your biker type self, lol.

And the rest ladies and gentlemen ......is history.

Oops, forgot to add why i am twicehappy, see nobody told me(i think it was a state secret)but the week i flew to Indiana to meet my Master they were having a special for all out of state slaves relocating to Indiana; buy a Dom get a Domme free(trust me they were really cute ones with the perkiest, oh, i digress). So i got twice the happy, therefore..Twicehappy.

aleshaDreams -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 2:08:49 PM)

I have found that screen names in fact cause a reaction wether I want to admit it or not, they do.  When I see names that seem to have a disturbing nature, I turn away from them.  Repetitive names I see come across as lack of imagination and creativity and of which little interest is drawn.  Screen names with ranking signatures do draw attention but also dependant upon the secondary title in combination with the first that either ignites interest or not.

My screen name on this board is one that I have used elsewhere after replacing a vunerable name that I swear had every rat from here to the other side of the globe contacting me.  I have only had one Dominant interpret my screen name to how I defined it when I created it - which of course is interesting in itself.

I think screen names do define character of the person to some degree, and in admission I personally have a tendancy of preliminary judgement based on such.

slaverosebeauty -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 2:19:21 PM)

Some screen names make me ill [due the conotation that the word(s) have], I have been known to delete, unopened emails from people I have been on contact with due to their handle, if its rude, egotistical, arrogant or something that makes me ill, I see no reason to be in touch with that peson. That may make me a 'bad' person, to some, but a handle is your first impression, so if it's not good, hten that has already set the tone for communication.

My handle is a combination of 3 words with different meaning, they meld together well, thats why I use it.

'slave' is what I discovered I was years ago after a lot of soul searching and learning; 'rose' is in referance to the strength of of roses, they are drought resistant, they weather time and are timeless, and a few other private meanings; 'beauty' is my favorite character in fairy tales [beauty and the best, NOT from 'sleeping beauty'], she saw beyond outside appearances and saw intot he soul and feel in love. {yes their are other reasons for each part as well, but that works.} Ok, thats kinda mushy and the like, but too bad. lol

DerLachendeKater -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 4:05:29 PM)

i use Der Lachende Kater becuase what it means fits me and it suprises me nicely  when they know what it means .

Najakcharmer -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 4:26:17 PM)

Generally when I see a nick like "LordMasterAlphaDominant" or "LadyGoddessEmpress" I giggle a lot and think it sounds just a wee bit like overcompensation for something.  Blatantly crude, sexual screen names generally make me go "yuck" and block the profile. If the screen name has four letter words in it or any words describing intimate anatomy, that's just a bit much for polite conversation with a stranger, and it also suggests that they're probably overcompensating out of some fundamental insecurity about themselves.

My screen name is actually a Latin name derivation, but most people wouldn't recognize it.
