I don't think I have personally ever not spoken with someone due to their "title",however; I do not call people do not know personally by titles such as Master, Mistress,or even Lord. I typically will skip past the title to the rest of their nick. though that is kind of hard when you have a name like Master123. *laughs*

I have had some get annoyed and stress that I should us their titles. However, for me those are earned titles and I just wont use them unless you have earned them in my eyes or we are in a forum lifestyle setting where it is simply good ettiquette.

I typically will not take people seriously with names such as bowbeforeme, or hungwhitemale, or cunt4you, though I have not simply ignored them.

Blessed Be,
Phoenix's Nika

**stamps foot petulantly**  But you simply MUST call Me MistressLadyGoddessEmpressMa'am, because that is My rightful title over ALL submissives. And get down on your knees while you're typing.  And while you're at it, send Me all of your money.  Because all REAL submissives have to obey when commanded by a Real Dominant.

I dunno.  I don't care from what your sexual orientation is, it doesn't give you any automatic rights over anyone else that they don't consensually choose to give you.  Strangers in chat rooms are entitled to normal adult to adult courtesy and no more.

If you choose to enter a space where there are specific rules and roles, eg a Gorean chat room or a lifestyle femdom area where it is expected that all men must behave submissively to all women, that's a different story as you have given your consent at the door.  Anywhere other than that, people who expect to be addressed by some fancypants title deserve to get giggled at.

HoosierScorpio -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 6:56:24 PM)

.   Some time's we create screen names to show inner spirit of who we are. When I was trying to create my screen name I wanted to go by Scorpio because when I had a CB I went by Scorpio because I am a Scorpio. The only problem with that there was about thousands Scorpio’s of one form or the next on line. So the only next best thing I could do was add master to the end of it not to force people to call me master but because it worked, Now There are so many people with the name of Scorpio on line and some who like to cause problems on line with Scorpio in their name has cause me problems.  I have been Scorpio master since 1999 when I created my first profile on line. Some of us consider us a master or lord of the house. We should not automatic think the worse when we see the names for they may feel like a kitty or sex kitten. Too many people try create red flags were there is nothing to worry about and be open to the name until they show use not to trust them by their actions online and in person. I should change my screen name but too many people do that on a whim or they are found out and they change their screen name to hide. I am Scorpio master and will always be a scropio_master for I was born in November and that will never change. There are just too many variation of names on line  that you need to be open to them.

As i used to do bdsm escorts of the street, and at the time was one of only two blond tranys that were out there,my nic shouldn't be hard to work out.

The laughing male cat.

Or the laughing hangover.  Although that one may be dialect, not sure.

DifferentSubGirl -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 7:53:19 PM)

I put 'Girl' in my screen name because, frankly, 9 times out of ten on an Internet type communication forum, most folks assume that I'm male. Apparently I come off like that, or something. Never have been able to figure it out, but I've seen it happen over and over again, and I didn't want people making that mistake here, so I figured letting people know that I am female would cause a lot less confusion.

Same with the word 'Sub'. Most folks (not only online, this time, but in real life too!) tend to think that I'm dominant, or a switch. Hate to disappoint, but I'm a submissive. Really. I'm just not submissive to absolutely everybody that I talk to, is all. But when I tell folks, 'nope, I'm a sub' I inevitably get a suprised 'Really?' and then wierd looks for the rest of the night, like I'm lying or something.

And as for 'Different' it's my understanding, having been in the kinky community for a bit, that I'm not noticibly like any other submissive. This could in part be due to my cognitive disorder/learning disability, it could be my unique way of looking at things, but regardless, most of the world -- career, friends, school, kinky, family, whatever -- thinks I'm different. Some think I'm very different. And the kinky community definately thinks I'm different  . . .  not sure why, but they do . . . oh well. And since I've been different to the rest of the world for my whole life, it seems natural that I should include it in my handle.

Hence, the entymology behind the screen name 'DifferentSubGirl'.

DesertRat -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/12/2006 9:41:23 PM)

Generally, I find names with 'Sir', Lord, or 'Master' in them kind of funny. Having said that, I hasten to add that LordandMaster is a bit of a friend, and in his case the name surely seems apt. I'd avoid someone named after a line of convenience stores. Just like to also say I did have a relationship with a girl with 'lil' in her screen name, and she was great.

I use my nick all over the net. It's not too serious, but does indicate some pride in who and what I am.

Bob

littlesarbonn -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/13/2006 4:54:15 AM)

Although I get a larger amount of email than I probably ever should here, I do find it interesting that no one is ever curious about the origin of my screen name. I use the name constantly on pretty much all boards, and I've been using it for years. But it's usually the gaming boards where people are curious, mainly because I made the name famous in one online game that people recognize and aren't sure if this is really me.

Oooh oooh,. which game?

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/13/2006 8:41:07 AM)

My screen name is the same as my gmail address.  The "VanWinkle" part refers to an awakening I had early last year shortly before I created the address.  I'll give you three guesses as to why it starts with "Harry."

candleTC -> RE: Screen names and RT (5/13/2006 8:56:29 AM)

candleTC = shortened version of candlelight_chaos, which is the screen name i have used for years... of course, added with Master's tag...

Candlelight chaos, was actually a name given to me by my group of friends way back in high school..the reasoning behind it was that even in the midst of my chaos ( homelife, etc ) i would shine as bright as a candle.( how sickening sweet, i know.) i got rather used to be called " candle " by my peers.

Real name - Beth... shortened version of Elizabeth, or Elisheva in Hebrew.

Having gone over that bit of history into why i chose the names i chose, i do have to admit, that i have learned that a majority of the people around that have to claim "themselves" as dom, Master, Lord, Jarl, yada yada yada, nine times out of then, are not such.  So, yes, i think i may discriminate a bit.  Plus, i am drawn to the creativity of a screen name.  It's funny when i see, "yahoo" postings for instance that claim " beware, all the names are being taken!" MALARCHY!!!!!! To many people with to many creative minds out there .. they can come up with SOMETHING that will grab my attention.  Just my mere opinion.
