Could he please explain again, how health care reform passed?

"I'll take my ball and refuse to play!" didn't impress me in grade school, and it doesn't impress me from Congress.

You know, so many keep harping that there's no support for this bill, and that November will be an election blood bath.

So win the election and repeal the legislation. If it's all so simple, what's the problem?

Status: offline 		Being conservative in regards to the reach of the government in our daily lives and what tax payer's money should be spent on, yet liberal in the form of "live and let live," I do not see a problem with regulating health care by ensuring that physicians are providing quality care to everybody that needs it. When growing up we had a doctor in town, Doctor Collins, who would not dream about turning anybody away for any reason. All the money in the world is not going to buy a good doctor because a good doctor cannot be bought. Amazing how doctors and lawyers bear such a striking resemblance to each other these days.

My problem with HCR, as with many others, is the mandate.

Status: offline 		One constitutional argument for the mandate, as some say, it is legal because it is disguised as a tax. But as a tax, is it correctly apportioned?

I have a sister in California who needs  vascular surgery right now because her veins are not working and the surgeon will not see her because she has no health insurance. And that makes me angry and I can't stand listening to people like you who have never been really ill and don't what you're talking about as to what goes on in the real world.

My condolences to you and your sister.

That is what I am talking about. That surgeon may be good at cutting people open, but that does not make him a "good" surgeon. The manager of my storage facility has a granddaughter that was recently, badly injured in an accident that peeled over half of the skin away from her forehead. There was no insurance to cover her. What there was, however, was a surgeon, that was not even on duty and just happened to be in town on vacation, who performed the surgery to fix her up at no charge. Why did he do it? Because he has a daughter.

The Senate passed a bill, the House passed the exact same bill, the President signed it. Simple as A-B-C.

Especially 30 billion of them. Where are they going to find 5 times the total world population, and how are they going to get them all to the emergency room?

True. It was very partisan. Dozens of democrats voted against the bill, but not one single republican voted for it. The republicans were as partisan as they could be.

Status: offline 		Your story is fine but it doesn't help my sister.  She is a single mother with 3 kids.  Is she just supposed to die?  She spent 2 days in emergency by the way.  She's home now with medicated bandages covering her legs.  And some people here ask me because I live in Canada why I get involved in the health care debate and demand I say nothing.
