ORIGINAL: SirLordTrainer While I was pleased it was shown (Secretary) in somewhat of a positive light to the mainstream, I view it about like I did 'Quills'. Watered down and inaccurate. Although the 'spreader bar' scene was worth the 3 bucks to rent it. My two cents. Hello A/all, I saw and read The Story of O. Saw Secretary. Read the Anne Rampling drivel. Read some other BDSM stuff. Saw 9.5 Weeks. The problem I have with most D/s and BDSM portrayals in media, be it film or written works, is that the authors and filmmakers seem to focus almost entirely on the mechanics of the situation. She likes being tied up, he enjoys being beaten with sticks. Etc. Most of what I have read would insult my parakeet if I used it to line it's cage. I want to know the character. While a person liking X is interesting, why a person likes X is enthralling and draws me in to empathetic feelings towards that character. Just me, could be wrong, but there you go. Sinergy I would happen to agree as well I would be interested in hearing more about in detail pertaining to the power exchange between them, but no we didnt get that either. I think feastie said it well enough with 'hollywood chickening out'.. However, I am looking forward to a film called ''The Pet'' the preview looked good enough. Should prove interesting.. maybe
