~fr~ Could just be a shrewd business move. If these guys were to have a lethal ‘accident’, who would write future scripts? Now they will only have to weather the effects, if any, in the decline of viewers; time heals all. Personally, I don’t care for the show, however, that is irrelevant to the issue. I believe in liberty of speech; you can say what you want, just don’t think there won’t be consequences. Especially inconsideration of how emotional people can get over words. If I were the network, I’d probably prefer two pissed off writers, opposed to the possibility of two dead ones, or worse, like the loss of a whole building w/people inside; myself. On the other hand, if there was something I felt I needed to say, I would say it, then deal with the consequences. I can’t say I believe I would feel a need to say a majority of the things expressed on ‘South Park’, and less likely, in same manner. I just don’t see any productiveness in it. I think humor is all well and good; it seems to be a way of coping with things we are unable to effectively change. Often, the things we find to be funniest, are those that come the closest to tragedy, without actually going over the line to tragic. I don’t think it is wise to cross the line to tragic, for the sake of humor, with people who seem to think nothing of extinguishing the lives of their enemies, nor of those who might get caught in the crossfire.
