And yes you will tell me that there is work in McDonalds etc. But I am not going to work in McDonalds. Have you heard what they paid? It is crap money. It would be like starting again. Im not working as a dogsbody for anyone.  And in any event I do NOT have the experience or skills for that kind of work. My specialty is like many others OFFICE work which if you have not noticed, the market for that is not very good at the moment. It is next to impossible to get an office JOB.

Jezzus kevin, wake the hell up and join the rest of us in the real world, would you? You bitch and bitch about the lack of jobs, then go out of your way to bring up legit work, with a real paycheck, that you refuse to do. You say quite clearly above that office jobs are scarce, yet won't consider a paying job outside your "office only" comfort zone? WTF?

Your follow up posts to the above mentioned tripe use the word "overqualified", and suggest that you wouldn't be hired for something as lowly as McDonalds. Bull-fucking-shit, kevvie. Let me tell you something. My Dad holds an advanced degree in engineering, and worked for decades in his field. When he was laid off due to a recession here, he spent two years working as a *gasp* bartender, to keep up with the mortgage and put food on the table while he looked for a new job in his field. Was it glamorous? No. Was it work in his 'specialty'? No. Was he 'overqualified' for the position? Hell, yes. But he was hired, did the job he was being paid for, and put 100% effort into it for the folks who signed his paycheck. That said, he never uttered so much as a word in my presence about doing work that was 'beneath' him, so save your excuses and rationalizations for someone who hasn't been there.

Oh, and your response to the situation with my coworker cracked me up! On the one hand, you insist that those with the means hire unqualified people to work for them, then you do an about face when confronted with the results of a boss doing exactly that. I wonder what it would cost me to get you the custom title "Contradiction Specialist"

As to your suggestions... a disciplinary hearing? Written/ verbal warnings? LMAO. Apparently you missed the fact that this company has FIVE employees, one of whom is the owner. Do you really think he doesn't already know? California is an "at will" employment state, kiddo. The boss can hire someone to watch paint dry if he chooses to do so.

It is my thinking, that if someone needs a job, and money is tight and jobs in your profession are tight, that it's just plain silly to refuse jobs that do pay, even if they're minimum wage, and that, the person refusing the job, really wasn't in need of a job or money that badly in the first place.

Either that or they need to get their head out of their ass, and take a job that may well be "beneath them" and actually have money coming into the house.

It doesn't take skills to be a grunt worker. They teach you what to do and you follow your instructions. Just like your assertion that  jobs, like answering phones, and stuff doesn't take skills.

Now you don't know that for sure, And you don't want to know it.. However I have seen plenty of older people working in fast food joints. I am talking about people in their 30's and stuff, And I have seen plenty of middle aged waitresses too, though those don't qualify as fast food joints.

Thats exactly the point. A high school student would be selected for that kind of role . Im too old and have too much experience of life, they would laugh at me , a graduate with an Honours degree in English and History looking to work in a fast food restaurant. I work in the UK version of Wal-mart, we have people in their 40’s with degrees working there. We have people who owned their own business and who lost everything and are now starting once again with nothing, we have ex managers and ex marines. In fact we have people who are so bright that they don’t talk the same language as me and who understand maths that I have never even heard about but they still say hi how can I help you and enjoy your day.

They all have one thing in common, they are overqualified for the job, and they needed the money so they took a low paid job that paid the bills, most will leave when they find better paid work, and they won’t then have a gap in their CV saying I sat on my ass for 6 months because I was too good to work.

Some people get off their ass and work, others moan.

we all KNOW you "work" 3 hours a day for FREE. The only thing we are trying to tell you is that SOME income is better than NO income, and you seem to REFUSE to grasp that concept. "I'm over qualified to work at McDonald's. Thats a job for a high school student." BULLOCKS.They know just as well as anybody that the economy is in a state of downturn- people NEED to work.So if not McDonald's try a grocery store as a clerk, bag boy, clean up-ANYTHING. you cannot possibly be picky in your situation. My apologies if you did mention it,but after going over your numerous mentions of saying you'll have a job by summer's end,not once did you say that you got that in WRITING that you WILL have a job. Unless that's happened-you can be screwed over, and left off worse than before. You have 21 hours in your day left-find a job as a bus boy, waiter-anything,because the truth is: YOU HAVE NO INCOME.Beggars can't be choosers-with you trying to "reason" with others that ProDommes overcharge, you are just a glorified beggar.

I did not know you need to have it in writing to be sure of a job offer. I thought word of mouth would suffice. i guess im learning

If it aint in writing Kevin, its nowt really unless you have some witnesses willing to support your case. Even then, if it were an offer then it would only require your agreement to become a contract, so I dont think it would be an offer thats being made, more like warm words and encouragement.

But I'd be careful about asking for it in writing - the way these schemes work you could be out the door for being awkward, but reported for something else - lazy, insubordinate or whatever; it doesnt need to be true as absent adequate evidence to the contrary, the employer would be believed here. The scheme has thousands of people to choose from but I fancy not that many participating businesses.

Agreed.

Yes, it probably will be awkward asking for a legal document at this point ensuring that he will be hired.

But i think you're right- from what he said, i think it fell along the lines of encouragement. And I believe "word of mouth" is the same thing as a rumor.

I hear McDonalds is hiring.  Get a job, that is how you will be useful to a Domme.

well he isnt over qualified to cut grass. Nobody is.

Why would a business owner hire someone, take the time to train them to use all the machinery, knowing he will leave the minute a better job comes along? Doesn't make any more sense for a lawn company, than it would for a McD job.

It has nothing to do with age. It has to do with experience. Managers don't want to hire people who are over qualified because they know those people won't stay. It just isn't good business sense and there are too many people out there that are not overqualified who are applying for the same jobs.

No.  So that you can show her that you have a work ethic, do not sit around and whine all day about things that you CAN change and do not want to leech off her.

Here's a job for you Kevin - go and find out for me the ins and outs of registering a limited company in Ireland, registering for VAT and opening bank accounts. Also, what the income tax, capital gains, VAT and corporation tax rates are.

If this ship starts sinking too much, we can jump. I'm already looking elsewhere around Europe where we might move to - in our line it doesnt matter where we are too much.

1) assuming we all moved and lived and worked over there
2) assuming we didnt, would we need an Irish national to maintain a presence from which we could invoice, purchase, etc
