Let me tell you something. My Dad holds an advanced degree in engineering, and worked for decades in his field. When he was laid off due to a recession here, he spent two years working as a *gasp* bartender, to keep up with the mortgage and put food on the table while he looked for a new job in his field. Was it glamorous? No. Was it work in his 'specialty'? No. Was he 'overqualified' for the position? Hell, yes. But he was hired, did the job he was being paid for, and put 100% effort into it for the folks who signed his paycheck. That said, he never uttered so much as a word in my presence about doing work that was 'beneath' him, so save your excuses and rationalizations for someone who hasn't been there. Oh, and your response to the situation with my coworker cracked me up! On the one hand, you insist that those with the means hire unqualified people to work for them, then you do an about face when confronted with the results of a boss doing exactly that. I wonder what it would cost me to get you the custom title "Contradiction Specialist" As to your suggestions... a disciplinary hearing? Written/ verbal warnings? LMAO. Apparently you missed the fact that this company has FIVE employees, one of whom is the owner. Do you really think he doesn't already know? California is an "at will" employment state, kiddo. The boss can hire someone to watch paint dry if he chooses to do so.
