"Useless" to all the people who expect the mods to do the job of the iggy button.

*waits for the next thread about how doms are all about self mastery and personal accountability and shit*

Being disgusting and being a dominant are not necessarily exclusive, zephy.

Well my answer to that would have been "yes" simple because I had faith in him to degree that IF he would order me to jump of a bridge, he'd have a sufficiently good reason for doing so, and staying on the bridge would have more negative results then jumping.

Only if you think that he is perfect, which means he can't be wrong, you can do such thing as jump from the bridge even without any thinking at all, as you explained by:
quote:

If he would have told me “Jump, NOW!” I would have jumped.

But I will ask you 2 absolutely unreasonable questions, so that we can in theory explain the nature of your obedience, is it really automatic, or you actually choose to obey.

So , would you kill an innocent person if he ordered you to, in a situation when you have absolutely no clue why he orders it?
Would you kill yourself, if he ordered it?

Two things here:
As stated, in her case, she trusts him well enough to know that he has her best interests in mind and would not ask her to jump without good cause.
Some people might jump for an entirely different reasons, more on that in a moment.

When THIS dominant man found me and we got to know each other, one of my requirements was that he be trustworthy and a part of that includes, that my best interests are important to him.
It was my further knowedge and understanding of him that made me want to be worthy of being His, if you will and so, I know he would not ask me to harm someone innocent (as you say) or myself.

SN
As far as I know, none of us go to the deli counter and simply take the next Dom or sub that is available when they call our number.
For most of us our partners are chosen carefully.

As for the bridge question: in a metaphorical sense it could be seen as analagous to this bit by
Guillaume Apollinaire:
"Come to the edge, he said. They said: We are afraid. Come to the edge, he said. They came. He pushed them and they flew."

SocratesNot
You are obviously are very literal person, which is complicated by the fact that you admittedly overthink things. That must be exhausting.

I offer you something I first saw in a CM post.
Whether it makes any sense to you in life or in D/s... remains to be seen.

Faith
When you walk to the edge of all the light you have
and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown,
you must believe that one of two things will happen:

There will be something solid for you to stand upon,
or you will be taught how how to fly

Calla, the problem with this reasoning is that unless you process and evaluate information, you can't know if it is important or it is clamoring of noise.
If they don't allow you the chance to be in contact with the sources of information, you can never be sure is you missed something important.

I choose to practice discernment and focus. For me, it has improved my capacity to comprehend. Sometimes, noise is just noise, and getting more of it doesn't make it any more worthwhile. Listening without discretion is more likely to result in confusion and ineffectual existence than spending time in silence or being discerning in the information one chooses to absorb.

YMMV,
Calla

In all this time, I had no idea that you played.  LOL.

I almost named my son Gygax, but then it was a bit over the top. ;) I cannot go home without my kids setting up a game for us to kill, at minimum, a full weekend when I'm there.. and, they have brainwashed the grandkids into playing as well. My oldest grandson got a D&D group (complete with requisite geeky teacher leader) started at school! My daugher is married, but my son is not allowed to date anyone who won't table top it with us. ::grins::

osf -> RE: Slavery is bullshit (6/1/2010 5:37:18 PM)

There is a movie made from a book "Of human bondage" that answers nicely for me what slavery is and it's really simple it is someone that wants/needs the other person and the relationship so much that they will do most anything to preserve it.

With this definition a person can be a slave in one relationship and never again, also the type of relationship has little importance to the fact of slavery

Now there are those that will seek out this type of relationship above all others, they may have an inherint need to sort of enslave themselves to someone.

The object of their need may or may not enhance or exploit the need of the enslaved and it may not matter for the outcome to be the same.

Hell some people enslave themselves to inanimate objects, can you say idol?

Andalusite -> RE: Slavery is bullshit (6/1/2010 6:49:25 PM)

SN, if you want to set "restriction of internet access" as a hard limit, no skin off of my nose, but that doesn't mean that everyone else has to follow suit. If I were your Domme, I wouldn't attempt that, but I would place a speech/writing restriction on you to not make generalisations about people, or insult them for their relationship choices, for at least one month. Then, I would require that you do a writing assignment oh, biweekly or so, to seek out people (in person preferably, but over the net if that weren't feasible) to talk with at least one person about their faith or politics or some other relatively controversial subject, find at least 3 things you disagree with, and explain what they find valuable about those three things. You wouldn't have to agree with them, just understand their perspective and be capable of explaining it to a neutral person without insulting them or attempting to convert them to your views.[;)]

cloudboy -> RE: Slavery is bullshit (6/1/2010 6:55:13 PM)

I was swinging in the direction of this threat till I read MasterfireMaam's contract....

A different world is often "bullshit to those on the outside" but its always a curiosity and a wonder how others make different worlds go.

I personally think you just used this thread to bash others ideas..I could have said the same about D/s or bedroom only submissives or any number of other ways including yours.

Sounds to me like you've pretty much excluded a whole list of words and in turn people that don't fit into what you think is okay..your own personal one true way.

As far as a high water mark..As usual you have an over inflated grasp on things concerning you.

femasoslave -> RE: Slavery is bullshit (6/1/2010 7:37:41 PM)

LOL......i find it amusing the amount of replies that you've had to this topic!!! It's brilliant!! Whenever there is a contoversial topic, others reply in spades!!!
I havnt bothered reading everyone elses replies....stuff em!

This is my reply......yes i agree with you....in this day and age, to say that one is slave is bullshit.....we all can leave any time that we want wheras slaves in the past had no choice, they could not leave.......even the so called Gorean lifestylers have a choice even if they wish they truly didnt.

BUT......i call myself slave....i only call myself slave because what i want and what i do is for my Master.......i do all i can to make his life better (well.....i try...its not easy for someone who has been independant all of her previous life)......i am definately not a doormat!!!......my Master wasnt in search of someone who wanted to be controlled in all aspects.....sure there are many that do want that but i find it improbable that a relationship like that could possibly last indefinately. I'm very lucky that I have found a Master who treats me as an equal, he loves and adores me as i do him......which in turn makes me want to do more for him. And before others start saying saying that i must be a subby.....hmmmm......i say that that no-one can define what makes a subby or slave...it is all up to the individual.
Just because i'm NOT a doormat doesnt mean that i'm not a slave.

i'm not sure that i should define myself as either subby or slave, maybe there isnt a word or it........all i know is that i love HIM so much that i want to do anything i can for him, he makes me feel cherished, adored, safe, loved and appreciated....
i want for him to use my body at any time, to ask me to do things for him......when he does that.....i feel fulfilled.

Ok........if things were to change.....would i be able to leave......yes.......i would.....i am strong enough to be able to leave......in my opinion that doesnt make me NOT a slave....it just means that i'm strong and mentally able to do things for myself.

Being called 'slave'...hmmm.......it's just a word.

osf -> RE: Slavery is bullshit (6/1/2010 9:03:40 PM)

I have found that the doormat discussion is mostly among the subbies and those that want to impress them by being PC.

The best definition that i have been able to come up with is " anyone more submissive than i am"

Seems to me by definition a slave is a doormat for at least one person

VS.

quote:

Those two seem like very different slaves. One is clingy, desperate, eager to throw her neck through whatever collar is held before them, the other is someone who perhaps never imagined bending her knee to a man until she met HIM. Frankly why anyone would want the former escapes me and it is the latter that intoxicated me, to be the one man among many who could inspire such from a woman with few equals.
