The thing is that the predatory business-financial elite are much better off than those scientists (except when those scientists decide to work for the military, etc. etc.)

So your solution is to take away any chance for the scientist who isn't already part of the financial elite?

"Sorry... we're already at quota."

I don't think there should be an elite, period.

Sorry, but the idea of government mandating surgical procedures sticks in my craw. The Nazis in fact did exactly this so I don't think it is  a far fetched comparisson...but on to the OP...I must make supper and then I will be back.

I can understand that and I'm not advocating it to be the solution.  But I can see where it is frustrating when people refuse to be financially responsible for themselves and their progeny.

What would you do if your 12 year old daughter brought home a puppy but couldn't take care of it?  What if she continued to bring home puppies?  Would you tell her no more?

Essentially what I'm recommending is that if you don't want the government to dictate your life to you, then don't put your life in the government's hands.

The problem is they assume it and rightfully so under Parens patriae.

You gave up title to your kids when you gave them to the state surveyor in the form of a birth.

You will notice on the form that you are the "informant".  Should bring up glaring red flags!

Had you kept it in your bible you would not have.

Same with your marriage.  People get a marriage license and what is a marriage license?  It is the state (the democracy), as the 3rd party to your marriage, your home, car, boat, cycle, business and so forth and so on.

No one was around to teach anyone in the democratically funded school system how to contract with the democracy rather than be subject to it.

Possibly the greatest fraud ever perpetrated upon nation"S".

Should have kept it all recorded in the bible instead.  The breakup of the family, it all works to the benefit and growth of the democracy who is right there to catch you.

When people make these 3 party arrangements they sign over legal title to the state and legal title controls.  The state in turn issues a "certificate" of title showing they hold the title for you.  By all means dont believe me and order 3 notarized copies of your birth certificate.  You will see the "security" indexing number go up by one count for each one.  It is a "surety" bond held against you.

See where this is going?

Making change starts at home and intimately understanding what is going on with these agencies.

I hang out with a bunch of very loosely connected if I can even say that, researchers who scour through the national archives, congressional records, federal register, state and federal law and compare it to what we were lead to believe discovering that the democracy offers the people everything but redress.

In the democracy you can only get redress in 51/49, in the republic your "1" will get redress.

So since you mentioned financial I forget the date, but I think it was the 1989 banking act?  Well banks can only give out loans for 5 years.  That to the best of my knowledge has never been repealed.

I agree, however there is one...always has been one and always will be one...even back in the cave there were elites.

Illegal Immigration…I don’t think there is anything you guys can do to actually solve this problem, but I have to agree with Merc on this…employers who hire illegals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I'm seriously heading off to bed this time, but your comment above made me think of my own solution to illegal immigration.

While I agree that businesses that promote illegal immigration by hiring undocumented workers need to be held accountable, there's an easier solution.  Just move the border south and make Mexico part of the US.  We can then just handle the problems there and no one will need to move.

It will certainly take a massive sea change in values.

'If everyone thought like me', we could clean house in a couple weeks.

But people get caught up in things along the way (religion, sports, cars, hobbies, petty competition, shoes, hats, women).

It's part cultural, part systemic, the two parts interlaced.

Well... unfortunately life isn't fair.

If it isn't the elite in terms of financial wealth, it's the elite in education, the elite in physical health and good looks, the elite intelligence, etc.

There is no way to even the playing field for absolutely everyone and every circumstance.

Surely he knows we're all jesting.    I cannot imagine him not understanding your need to take the wide open opportunity he left.

Great thread, Treasure.

A flat taxes system (note the plural). 12% tax up to $40k, 20% up to $100k, 25% to $500K, 35% over $500k. No deductions, no loopholes.

I don't know if it would work, but I'd like to give it a shot.

In response to your op:

Instead of having two terms I would like to see a single term of let's say 6 years.  That keeps our representatives working and not campaigning.  I would also like to see a work review of each.  You ever watch C-Span?  The gallery is nearly always empty.  Where are those people?  What the heck are they doing?  I'd like access to my employees schedule so I know they are on the job, not just fucking off on my dime.

And no life-long pensions either.  If you want to be a public servant, then serve and don't expect us to pay you after you leave.

I would like to see the abolishment of lobbies altogether.  We live in the information age.  Surely there is a way for folks to get their views and needs communicated to Congress without lobbies.

And no more pork.  You want a special project for your state?  Then let it go through the grant process.  Don't tack it  onto an unrelated bill just so you'll vote for it.  That's akin to blackmail.

I'm with Taz... what would I do with a French girl?

shup Firm

Aside from that, it would depend upon whether it meant you would be bringing all that horrid weather down here with you.  Aren't all Canadians required to be a frigid shade of blue?

Thank you, Level.

There are many who would very much like to give it a shot, as well.  I'm not so sure I'd go along with the percentages you've named, but then again, I'd like to see the Federal government greatly reduced.  I suppose whatever would be needed.

The single longer term is a good idea!  I agree... why should I be paying a representative to spend all his time and effort out trying to get elected again?  But I'm not sure I'd like to get stuck with a dud for six years.  Perhaps we ought to flex our recall muscles more.

And absentee representatives is one of the big reasons I think there should be no relocating to DC.  They should stay in their districts most of the time where they can be seen by their constituents.  Once a quarter to DC for strictly enforced, two week sessions.  Attendance would be mandatory.  Voting would be mandatory.
