Ok, having read the thread there *are* some things that sound nothing like any munch I've ever been to, but I just want to flag this up-perhaps it's a gender thing (?) but I've never been to a munch and *not* been approached by total strangers for a chat.

Not that anyone's ever had trouble accepting my orientation or ordered me too piss in front of them...

And I do happen to know of a munch in my local area that's taking place in a pretty swanky country house hotel, but it's a one-off special occasion thing.

it happens 3 out of 5 times when my boyfriend opens his mouth. if i go by typical convential standards- he is pretty average as far as looks go(not to me, i think he's hot), but he is rediculously charismatic and has a protective demeanor. being with him on and off for 4 years, its come to a point several times where girls have tried to physically fight me for him.

I've been to a few dc munches. BR (inc. their TNG) and the independent DC-TNG. For the most part they were a pretty welcoming crew. BR tends to meet in a hotel restaurant before classes (their TNG group meets at a burger joint up the street) and sometimes in a meeting room for "Gateway" which is specifically for the newbies to get info and some coupons. Sometimes during classes I've seen people who know each other get a little frisky/flirty but never anything really out of line. DC-TNG is less structured and more social focused. They meet at a lounge.  I have not been to either in a while but I have not heard of anything wack happening at a meeting or at the crucible that wasn't quickly handled by DM's or leadership.

I don't think women have fought over sitting near me since SAT prep class. If I only knew then what I think I know now.

Still yet to go to my first Munch officially (that is tomorrow) but have had an "unofficial" munch.. a party that coincided with my birthday, plus a meeting with 4 of the regulars the week before.

Must have gotten lucky with my local group. they're just regular people like everyone else.  Way I did it was go to Fetlife, join your local groups munch grop page, and just introduce yourself and say you've never attended on before.  from what I understand, most groups do a Meet and Greet service where one of them will be happy to meet you in the car park and walk in with you so you don't feel like a little lamb wandering into a loins den all on your own.

Oh and while it may be possible that some creep sorta ambushed her between the meeting room and the bathroom (I am pretty familiar with that hotel) or sometimes they might be in a ballroom downstairs depending on where the hotel puts them, I would have little doubt that whoever was running things there would be quick to respond to a complaint.

The kind of behavior you describe is exactly the thing we who love BDSM hate most. Most events have moderators of some sort as well as a standard of behavior. It would be wise to find out who they are, where they will be, and what is expected of patrons. If someone is spoiling the party for others, LET SOMEONE KNOW. It is seldom tolerated by the community.

Well, went and did my first munch.. really it is nowhere NEAR as scary as you convince yourself it is.  well worth the effort to go to at least one... if you go then you can decide it isn't for you.

but the people I was with it was a friendly relaxed newbie friendly atmosphere.  I would recommend it to anyone,

Get on Fetlife (or I believe there is a board here aswell) and search your local area, find out hwats going on, then introduce yourself in the local munch thread or the area thread.. you have nothing to lose but an evening of your time.

Okay so..... Where was this Munch?

I have now contacted some 15 friends in Maryland and all have told me there is no Munch or Play party that takes place in a Hotel. There wasn't even a Kink Event that took place or at least one of them would have been there.

I am sorry from the people in the scene that I know, their activity, their involvment in the lifestyle, I am being told what you describe "COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED" at least not the way you say it did.

Of the three who lived in the Baltimore area when I commented on how you said you waled away and your Man was swarmed with submissives, I was laughed at. I was informed perhaps if hell froze over. And that if this had happened there are some 200 Male Dom's that have been searching for this place for about a decade.

So Please I have a bunch of people interested in the Baltimore Maryland area wanting to know exactly where in the hell you were.

im glad the guy was reported. A munch like that i do not want to be part of. i think the organisers should be ashamed and embarrassed. The whole point of a munch is it a relaxed social gathering, there is no in scene BDSM except conversations about it, violence at a munch, no im sorry that s just ludicrous

Bump.

I am looking for a reply here because so far a lot of people are annoyed that someone would present the Baltimore area as one where people are subjected to such behavior. 2 area Munches are conserned because they worry about the fact that all the people involved were NEW and that is not what they sould ever be introduced to.

Seriouly OP are you going to offer Details or Admit that things didn't exactly happen the way you are saying they are?

No munch that I have ever gone to had demonstrations. Now they were educational opportunities, in that discussions on safety, and bdsm topics were discussed, but they made it abundantly clear, that toys and demo's and stuff were not allowed, since this was a vanilla establishment we were dining in.

But then of course, every si ngle munch out there is different, so I am not qualified to speak on any other than what I have seen with my own eyes.

likewise- no idea what it was, but the hosts repeated that is was a munch with educational opportunities. and the demos were rather "clean" and were done with dummies. i was a tad but disappointed with that. i was hoping for people, but i'm a pervert lol

Actually, depending on the hotel, you assume wrong. There's several kink friendly hotels, who rent out their ball rooms and conference rooms to kinky conventions, and they know very well the event is a kinky one. I had one staff member at the Double tree show interest in the floggers I had made and was carrying after a make your own demo class.

The last kinky convention Daddy and I went to, the hotel staff  catered a munch in the hotel's lobby. The hotel was small enough that the event booked the entire hotel to itself, there wasn't a non participating guest  on the whole property for the duration of the event

And no. You don't have to be 21 to be allowed into a play party. It's based on the hosts or event's wishes. TNG is specifically for those under 21. 18 to 35 to be exact.

i'll keep the meeting+lunch=munch in mind. after my first expired- anything would have been better than that, which this event was. maybe i was wrong, but i assume it was nt just a play party. 1. i think the hotel would have a problem with those kind of activities taking place. especially since there was staff from the hotel involved. 2. i think i would have to be 21 to be allowed in.

Why, in the name of all that is holy, would you take vanillas to a munch?
Not very nice to your fellow perverts that, having nervous normans inflicted on them. Lots of people at Munches are new, how did it go down with them to be seen as a freak show?

That's the basis of TNG.  They believe that the under-36 crowd has a lot of cultural affinities in common.  Some of them also feel "left out" from conventional events because they:
1. Are too young.
2. get hit up on a lot by older.
