We all make mistakes and loose our tempers... Maybe even more than once but I would think if you argue with the moderator about your suspension you are asking for real trouble.

Butch

I don't know about that Butch. I think they take alot of shit in their mailboxes. I'm not sure it's safe to assume they take it personally and act on it.

I have never gotten over my experiences in the first half of 2005, with the moderation here. I trust the mods that I KNOW. The others are unknowns that I treat with gracious caution. Rather like unexploded bombs.

poise -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 8:13:18 PM)

[sm=rolleyes.gif] I'm about to show my ignorance. Please swallow whatever might be in your mouth at the moment.
I've never really been one to visit forums, but was invited here a few months back. Every now and then,
I'd come across submissivemale22s' post that read "Awaiting Approval".. Well...uhmmm, I thought that
meant he was waiting for his Master/Mistress to give him persmission to post.
But hey...this was when I was vanilla! And you cant pile on me...Lushy says so[:)]

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 8:13:30 PM)

Please don't take my last post to mean I think they personally should be mindless zombies. I know first hand the bullshit that they have to deal with, the complaints, the mediation, the he said she said, the "This is OBVIOUSLY NOT OKAY's" and then at the end of the day they spent all their time putting out fires and not one moment enjoying this site that they love enough to stand up and take care of in the first place... It sucks I KNOW.

I think some Moderation needs to be done by the Posters. Asshats SHOULD be told they are Asshats, and Trolls be told they are Trolls, but if you really don't like them IGNORE THEM, if they don't have the audience they want usually they will go away.

I like the Hide button, I get to tell people who do not like what I have to say to click it. This way if I bother them it is of their own accord. A Persons Opinion should never get them Moderated, their actions should.

I have heard of people who said that when tried to plead their case, via email, they were told to cease and desist or they would be the recipient of a perma band.

Considering that moderation isn't used nearly as strictly as it has in the past, what do people think of it these days?

I think moderation should only be used in extreme cases - revealing personal information, threats of violence, banned users making new accounts, advertising on inappropriate forums, spamming, duplicate threads, etc.

For annoying, rude, or distasteful posts I highly recommend the "ignore" feature.

Lady HIB:

I am much happier with the current moderation. I still remember One and Three writing me vicious emails OFF the boards. Good times.

There are folks who create boatloads of work for the mods, and I feel sorry about that. It has to be hard to draw the line between PIA and amusing. I moderate elsewhere, and I am fine with folks as long as they do not totally attack others.

I think that the POSTERS could go a long way toward keeping the trolls away by not fucking feeding them!! How long did we have to deal with our Bosnian correspondent just because everyone got off on pounding their heads against the pavement?

I think the first poster is right on. We moderate for violations of TOS, and yes, LadyHIB, we appreciate self policing because believe it or not, we TRY to have real lives...

As to the number of this and that and whatever before you get kicked moderated, off the site........do ya really think you're gonna get an answer from us???Im the only chance you got to talk for the site, and all I can say is....it depends.....however,IGNOREis your friend, here, in vid chat, in mail...and saves my head from going gray quite as quickly(after all, yall need to cut me some slack, do I need to keep reminding you I am fuckin 99 years old!!!!!!)[;)]

I have been Moderators on lots of boards, this is the first one where there was public spanking.

I get the whole, "Stay on Topic" or "Continued derailing of this thread will get it locked" I even understand "-User Name- This is your first, last, and only warning STOP, if you need to contact me to find out what I want you to stop please click here"

I believe Moderators should be faceless, nameless, identities used solely for the purpose of order, When a Moderator is a Personality they show a real or imagined preference in what they say, If they joke around with "Mr. Smith" and laugh at them, and then turn around and Spank "Mrs. Jones" eventually "Mrs. Jones" might thing "Mr. Smith" can do no wrong especially when you see them do exactly what you did that got you spanked.

I think Public correction, other than being Moderated with the [awaiting approval], is asking for trouble, when you do this, anyone who didn't care for that individual poster now feels validated in their treatment of said poster.

Prime Example when Lobodomslave or whatever "Kevin" when he would get Moderated, he would come back and ask all the same questions, sure what he asked occasionaly was annoying but I have seen him dressed down for asking what I thought was a pretty interesting question.. The point is, is that when I saw all his moderation, I looked forward to being bothered by his post, there was a type of validation that came with his moderation.

Being directly commented on by a Moderator with a post that says they dislike your opinion, is in my opinion inappropriate because as a moderator they should be impartial to all situations and only uphold the order of the site, by giving such an opinion they tell everyone how the moderator is alligned in their beliefs, in effect telling them who they can pick on because the Mods don't like him either.

All that said, I always remember this is a free site and I am glad something like this exists, without it I wouldn't have as much fun as I do. The Mods, Admins, CyberGods, can do whatever they like, it is in effect their world and they get to be the sheriffs here.

QSM

However, Mr. Smith usually gets spanked too. I know that in all probability you were speaking about Me when you said something about a Moderator disliking your post. I DID state I thought that thread was snarky, yet I did not pull it, so apparently, even though I disliked the post. I freely admit it, I thought was a slap at the site. However, even though I am the Collarme cheerleader, I left your post up. I would rather do it in my Moderator nick, then be sly and come on with my regular nick and lambast your view, and then Moderate the thread therafter, like what previous admins and mods have been accused of. I personally,(although I admit I am human and can be wrong) think the more ethical way is to tell you how I feel about that particular subject as a Moderator than under an alias, that actually, YOU know. As I said, I said I thought the comment was snarky, I did not say I thought YOU were snarky, as I normally admire your posts. We have a right to our opinion also,at least when concerning the site, some of us cant help it, after all the time we put in, the site is a part of us, although truly, we try to put those out of our mind when making moderator decisions. Im sorry you thought that was a spank, trust me, there are quite a few,(including people that I have had long friendships with, but had to spank) that will tell you that was NO spank of mine.[;)]

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 8:52:30 PM)

Actually VAA although you were in there, I was refering to Many different Mods on Many different sites.

ETA: The Specific Public Spanking... Yeah that was in reference to what you said on the "So you've come to CM to ask a Question" Thread.

The Post may have been snarky, I think it was more a Satire, but in the end it was what it was.

Spank or not what bothered me is that, yes I know the Clark Kent to your Superman, When what you said came from the point of a Moderator it Validated other peoples dislike for me as being something that is okay with the Admin.

I am understanding that the way that I type comes across as ass'ish or whatever, I don't really know why I see a lot of people trying to read between the lines of what I am saying, When I try to do things to make sure no one misunderstands me it comes off to me as not being genuine and so I refuse to do that.

I LIKE COLLARME, I REALLY DO,

I happen to Dislike some things I see here, The thread I feel I got spanked in, sorry comment on the condition of my penis in a post it can't be anything other than a spank, maybe not your worst, but a spank none the less. An Admin suggesting you heavily take their advice and change your Font and Bolding style, is a warning, and warning from Admins should be addressed.

I really like the new FAQ section however it is a LOT to read and not all of it applies to CollarMe and there are things that get discussed on CollarMe that the Netiquitte thing doesn't really cover. I think it is a good baseline and happy that it is there.

All that being said VAA, I LOVE you, I think you as a Person rocks, I think you are Great as a Mod/Admin. I just personally think I would perfer seeing the two as seperate people, even though I personally know they are one. I have a personal preference when it comes to Moderation, I don't run the site, so it's gunna have to be just my opinion.

I still like the way the site is run... I didn't leave and I changed the font and bold of my posts... The site was worth staying on.

I would think this is not recently. I have people argue with My decisions all the time.

This is also the last time I will comment on this thread......I dont want to be too personally involved(tongue firmly in cheek) [;)]

I heart Rho!! And VAA! Thanks for being on the ball, ladies!

KatyLied -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 8:56:26 PM)

I am referring to things that happened when another mod was making what can only be described as prejudicial decision making.

' I suggested the font because that way MORE people could read your posts, because (when Im not taking things personally on behalf of the site, lol) I think your posts have salient observations. It was not a directive. As I said, because I may have misread the intention I left it. I also felt that it would be dishonest to remove my words, as other posters are wont to do when they get called on something, and remove the evidence in an effort to make the other person look like they are voicing discord for nothing.

Am I the only flippin person around here who doesn't know who the freakin Mods are?

Alpha, I understand that you can't answer the question.  It was just something that I was curious about.  Of course I don't know what happens on the Mod side of things (obviously) but it made Me wonder if there was a particular protocol to it.

Aww, thankies (basks momentarily in love for the Mods and then goes to do paying work, lol!)

KatyLied -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 9:07:07 PM)

I do not know who the mods of today are.  I heard much speculation regarding who Mod 11 was, still not sure on that one.

AQuietSimpleMan -> RE: How Many Strikes? (7/8/2010 9:13:04 PM)

Mod 11 was John Matuszak, The Secret is out now can we all get back to our lives?

I don't know....

does it make me weird that I don't want to know? I don't. It would add nothing to my good times here, and in fact might detract from them..

Just call me a mushroom... keep me in the dark and feed me lotsa bullshit

Mod 11 was a valued member of the staff, and it was her decision to move on to bigger and better, and therefore, it does not really matter, does it?
