xxblushesxx -> Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:20:20 PM)

Ok, so I just got an email from domlongschlong (names have been slightly changed to protect the clueless)

I remember that he has cmailed me before because it's an...interesting name.

Interesting but...off putting, at least for me.

So, when you see a nic called fuckpuppy or domwithdick (both made up but could be real) does that change your perception of the person at all? Do you consider someone with a name like that, or is that a deal breaker? For me it is a deal breaker as far as dating goes.

I'm sure I may have turned down some interesting partners because of it, but I want someone a bit more subtle.

I don't want/need to see your cock until I'm interested in you. I don't want/need to think of you as slutbitch unless you are MY slutbitch and I gave that name to you because you are special to me. [:-]

Also, does it change the way you view their posts? If sucksalotofcock is posting in politics and religion, it's possible I would pass right by that post just due to the nic. Otoh, if domwithcookies posted there, I might engage because I would think that showed a sense of humour, and a willingness not to take one's self so seriously.

So is there a difference between putting yourself out there as just a vagina or cock and an ironic sense of humour?

I know this is a bit judgmental, but it is honest, and I am curious about others' thoughts on this subject.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:23:53 PM)

Yes, is absolutely does change my perception of them. It makes me think they're focused on nothing more than their goods and getting action for their goods, and I don't take them seriously.

I wouldn't refuse to date them or nothing, but if they wanted me to take them seriously and get into them, people would seriously be better off choosing a less kink or dick oriented nick name.

Yes, it does impact how I view them, is that fair? I think it is. I would suppose if I made a name (like cumguzzlingcunt) this would impact the quality of responses that I received....

DaddysInkedSlut -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:30:21 PM)

No, honestly I don't change my responses due to someones nick. We all choose our nicks for our own reasons, even those choosen for us are personal and their reasons are their own. Just like I want to be known for more than tits and ass or a certain kink I would hope I could give that same respect.

marie2 -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:31:39 PM)

Yes, certain names are an immediate turn-off for me, and "deal-breakers". I don't like the ones that sound sexually-oriented, or the ones that just scream "uberdom", humorous is good though.

On edit, I wanted to add basically what Julia said. The dealbreakers for me are the personal emails I get with those types of names.

But on the forums, I'll talk to anyone who makes good conversation. As odd as this may seem, I don't even notice most of the nicknames, unless they are people that I converse with frequently.

juliaoceania -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:32:48 PM)

Do not misunderstand me, when I am on the forum I pay little attention to names...

But when I get an email from thickdick4u.... yeah, that impacts the interaction. I am not looking for a "thick dick", I am looking for a man... the dick that is attached to him is of secondary concern

bamboozledbylove -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:41:21 PM)

a rose by any other name would smell as sweet

xxblushesxx is not exactly the kind of user name you want to stand behind when you throw rocks at others for their user names.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't call the kettle black. A rolling pot gathers no moss.

Before you get your panties in a wad over the mote in your neighbor's eye, remove the timber from your own.

juliaoceania -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:46:01 PM)

What is wrong with her name?

WyldHrt -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:50:15 PM)

Yep, certain screen names are an immediate turn off for me, including (but not limited to): names centered around the size or quality of his cock (HardUn4U), names that make it seem like he's just looking for a set of holes (NeedASlutBad, CumGuzzleMyJizz), or names using multiple honorifics (UberMasterSir81)*.

Is it fair? Maybe not, but I prefer a guy who can come up with something a bit more creative than leading with his pimel.

*no real screen names (that I know of) were used in this post.

DaddysInkedSlut -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 10:54:31 PM)

I can honestly say I have never been turned off by a screen name but I have been intruged by some and drawn to others. I have even found some mildly amusing.

gungadin09 -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 11:27:01 PM)

i don't think a name like that would be a dealbreaker, but it would definitely be a strike against them, for a return email. i usually ignore people i think are going to be boring, which is why i don't answer one liners, like "hi there". A boring/generic/over-obvious screen name would make me think twice about responding. Unless, of course, they had something really interesting to say. On the forums, i often don't notice the screennames.

pam

P.S.- the same goes for generic profile pictures (i.e. the frat boy on the motorcycle); i tend to pass them over.

xxblushesxx,

The men I converse with at length have normal screen names. They may be unique in some manner that reflects their personality or interests, but none have ever ventured into orifices or sexuality. I can't say I'd judge them negatively because of that, but I probably wouldn't put much stock into the individual being a likely prospect either. I prefer gentleman and that wouldn't be characteristic of the men I'd find engaging.

Now in terms of having a sneak peek, please don't show or tell me about your nether region. Some men are so enthralled with themselves they believe every woman is dying to know. I'm not. It makes me think he has little mettle to stand upon that he must rest on his other leg instead for substance. I prefer a man that compels my hunger by his presence rather than articulation. There's a difference. The latter takes finesse and its opposite is commonplace in my opinion.

MistressRoux -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/10/2010 11:48:43 PM)

Personally, I find it off-putting because it probably reflects their entire reason for being on here (or at least, in my opinion, it does). That being said, such a direct name could help a person find exactly their right match.

I have to agree.  I think the nic is important.  And no matter how much I like the name cumguzzlingcunt, I don't think adopting that name is going to do me any favors, either.

Eeep .... does "crazyml" fall into the "dodgy" category?

VaguelyCurious -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/11/2010 4:24:37 AM)

Depends what the ml stands for...:P

sunshinemiss -> RE: Screen names and their effect (7/11/2010 4:28:17 AM)

I don't even read the emails from folks like that...

What is bad about Blushes?  Or is it the X's?

Oh hell and damnation, you are going to find something wrong with Aylee, aren't you?
