Was it this sort of research that led you to tell all of us that it was conservatives who freed the black man from slavery?
And yes I am still waiting for an explanation to that rediculouly stupid statement!

Lots of other people vote based on a bill of goods, without an ounce of good faith behind the lie they believe in. People who actually thought the Dems would end the war in Iraq back in '06, for example. Or took the leap of faith to vote for the guy who got the big job.

Exactly. And an ever-increasing majority of people who voted for Obama on no value higher than their own self-interest have gotten exactly what they voted for...thrown under the bus by someone with no value higher than his own self-interest.

And how was bush different? You racist piece of crap.

This is the argument you would expect from a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" individualistic American. I find it rather funny that Rich doesn't agree with it....

You're in graduate school and you don't know that America was founded by and became the envy of the world because of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" individualistic Americans? What a waste of grant money, i.e., tax-payer (my) money.

Look, I'm still feeling out people's personalities, so forgive my lack of understanding.

Why do you do that?  Maybe I'm missing multiple posts over multiple years, but why do you keep claiming that Jim is a racist?  I'm not trying to be cute or funny or anything.  I genuinely want to understand.

TheHeretic -> RE: Whites, Independents Deserting Obama... (7/22/2010 8:04:29 AM)

So, Mike. Are you actually suggesting that people who don't "think right," and have the proper, ie. liberal, worldview should be allowed to vote?

I find that rather troubling, my friend.

You are right about everything and Americans need to start voting for progressives if they want real change.

I know your angry with him but be careful not to let Repugs get in again as they will be much worse.

He has sold out each platform he ran on. He ran for the center as soon as he was elected. The only promise he kept was about the one thing I was against, which was escalating our involvement in Afghanistan

He didn't do effective healthcare reform

He didn't close Guantanamo

Don't ask don't tell is still on the books

Wall Street reform has no teeth

He keeps trying to seem "nonpartisan", which believe it or not, the American people ARE partisan against republicans at this point... he squandered his mandate by kissing republican ass and letting them call the shots

I told myself if he did not get socialized healthcare reform in this country with a public option I wasn't voting for him again... I'm not

Americans voted for conservative change after the debacle of progressive Woodrow Wilson.

I know you bow to Obama but you're not an American. Shut up and stay out of OUR business.

Read the post again Rich...What I'm suggesting is that its a shame that fucking assholes like RacistJim can vote.
And you know damm well I'm just poking a racist.
AsmodaisSin...there is a research button on folks profiles...check his posts, his racism is over the top overt....the prick is practically wearing a white sheet and hood as he posts.

BamaD -> RE: Whites, Independents Deserting Obama... (7/22/2010 8:35:08 AM)

Just like during the Clinton administration the first thing Obama's people do when he is critisized is declain the critic to be illigitimat, then they say the critisizm must be false because no ligit critic says that.

It is the kind of logic that proves someone is a pervert because the person making the proclimation has stated that anyone who does anything other that straight missionary is a pervert therefor since the victim has admitted to lets say oral , he can't speak on morallity since he is an obvious pervert. Sounds stupid in those terms but the left uses that logic on a regualr basis and gets a pass

I vote based upon what I believe about a candidate...a belief/disbelief developed by paying attention to what a candidate says/does during their campaign AND researching what they have said/done in their past. "If you have no record to run on, you paint your opponent as some to run from." -- Barack Hussein Obama, 2008 DNC Nomination Acceptance Speech. That one statement should have told every objective thinking person that Obama himself didn't believe he could win on own record.

What in the fuck is going on that conservatives and Republicans consistently take things out of context to try to prove their points?

Are you that weak-minded that you cannot come up with legitimate reasons to criticize Obama but have to resort to this nonsense?

The full quote you are misleadingly referring to:

Transcript - Barack Obama's Acceptance Speech - Text - NYTimes.com

But this, too, is part of America's promise, the promise of a democracy where we can find the strength and grace to bridge divides and unite in common effort.

I know there are those who dismiss such beliefs as happy talk. They claim that our insistence on something larger, something firmer, and more honest in our public life is just a Trojan horse for higher taxes and the abandonment of traditional values.

And that's to be expected, because if you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters.

If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.

And you know what? It's worked before, because it feeds into the cynicism we all have about government. When Washington doesn't work, all its promises seem empty. If your hopes have been dashed again and again, then it's best to stop hoping and settle for what you already know.

The way I see it, you, the 46% who thought you realized Obama BEFORE election day, repeatedly warned us, the other 54%, but isn't it great to be in America??  We don't have to listen to you.  By the way...I wouldn't have been happy with a flip-floppy McCain who changes his mind every day on the issues...or a flighty Palin...who follows the money, not her principles.  Or maybe her principles is her money??

And what bus do you mean? LOL

You're absolutely correct...you didn't have to listen to us BEFORE the election and you don't have to listen to us now. However, the way I see it, because the majority of you didn't listen to the minority of us BEFORE the election you have become the minority and we have become the majority. It is indeed great to be an American!! By the way...Obama wouldn't have made so many people who voted for him so unhappy they don't support him anymore if he hadn't either broken as many campaign promises and/or flipped-flopped on so many issues as he has. Better Palin's principles is her money than Obama's principles is fundamentally transforming the United States of America into the United Socialist States of America.

Well, the independents have to vote for SOMEONE.  Or else not vote.  They may be disenchanted with Obama now, but we'll see who they vote for when they have a choice.

pops has already stated that he hasn't voted since the late '80s. That's pretty independent, though if he can't be arsed to vote he has a bit of a nerve spending all this time whining about the people who those can be bothered with democracy have voted in.

as well they should.

The fallacy only occurs if personal attacks are employed instead of an argument to devalue an argument by attacking the speaker, not personal insults in the middle of an otherwise sound argument or insults that stand alone. "X's argument is invalid because X's analogy is false, there are differences between a republic and a democracy. But then again, X is idiotically ignorant." is gratuitously abusive but is not a fallacy because X's argument is actually addressed directly in the opening statement. "X is idiotically ignorant" is not a fallacy of itself. It is an argument that X doesn't know the difference between a republic and a democracy.

thanks for your ad hominem.

How's it feel to be run over by the Obama bus? LOL

And if you would have warned us about Reagan, Nixon, Bush and Bush, we'ed a listened to ya.  As it is, your track record of ruining the country is so inured in our minds that there is no saving grace by listening to you.

If we had warned you about Reagan, Nixon, Bush and Bush you could have at least found out enough about any/all of them BEFORE their respective elections to decide whether to vote for them or not. Not so Obama who by any/every measure, in less than half a term, has already ruined the country more than all previous POTUS's combined.
