And you consider "just shoot em'" as indicative of a serious answer? I will assume you do.....so a follow-up question.Since we are shooting the crossers unilaterly,can I assume you would also condone shooting,out of hand and absent due process everyone and anyone found to be hiring undocumenteds.....from the factory owner to the restraunt owner....the farmer to the homemaker who hires a nanny or a landscaper? You do desire to be fiar and even handed while you are piling up the bodies like so much kindling....don't you?

What kind of perimeter control do they use at Area 51? I know they don't have guards every 500 or 1000 feet, yet they seem to know exactly when and where someone has crossed the line. Whatever they use, wouldn't the same thing be effective along the border? I really don't know, but it is just a thought.

Assuming their is such an area...are there large numbers of disadvanteged and highly motivated folks looking to cross/enter so as to a) improve their lot in life....or b) make a shit load of money bringing drugs in? If the answers to those question are in the negative then I would assume there are no answers to be had by looking at Area 51's security [8\|]

The real problem with the border with Mexico is drugs. It corrupts their government, etc. We need to legalize drugs to stop the border problems. I bet that would solve about 75% of the difficulties with our relationship with Mexico. Drugs have destabilized that country politically and economically, and since our people are the ones doing those drugs, we are culpable too

we need to legalize anyone who enters because they will enter regardless. we need to legalize drugs because people will use them and it will stop the violence. when do we stop legalizing things because people cant seem to understand the concept that its "illegal"?

We have had an almost 30 year war on drugs, it has been about as successful as prohibition, and for the same reason... I like a drink now and again, mind you, but personally I would not miss any substance they illegalized, but I can see making it illegal leads to vice crime and worse. In my state Mexicans with guns have taken over public land to grow pot. I cannot hike in some areas because if a Mexican pot farmer saw me he would shoot my ass.... this is what our drug war has led to, foreigners occupying my state to grow an illegal crop that would grow like a weed naturally. This is fucking insanity, and I want it to stop. Now you can try to debate this to infinity with me, but I find debating with you tiresome and unproductive. It leads to dictionary contests when you can get your "point" across and a complete lack of regard for other people's opinions... and frankly, I just don't have the energy you do to invest in such squabbles... Now, go on, attempt to make everything I said look irrational, unbelievably stupid, etc... but living through it here in my state, which I love.. and loving my state the way I do... it is breaking my heart to see our wild lands environmentally poisoned and ruined because of a dumb moral stance about what people choose to do with their own bodies... Assume much? I rarely drink. I wouldnt miss it at all, except in my wallet. I do smoke, i dont do drugs. I advocate the use of medical pot.... great benefits. Im against the scientific community wanting to actually take pot, pull it apart, synthesize the components to add to other drugs.... talk about increasing costs all across the board for what a few tokes could do naturally. I have yet to see a good argument beyond that for legalizing any drug. If the "farms" are so well known in your area, the political and legal structure there knows too... and are on the take. should be comforting to know your local government cares so much about your safety.

The so called "war on drugs" is,has been,and will always be a complete failure.Unfortunately our elected officials lack the necessary political will to admit this simple fact.....having our southern neighbor practically morph into a narco-state is only the latest negative outcome to arise from this foolish policy.

Between the thousands of unemployed people in this country that can't even find a fucking job? Are you kidding me? What is the unemployment rate in some areas? 17%? All the people that have been on unemployment for years and can't find anything? We can get all the unemployed undocumented people that come here to do the jobs that Americans don't want to do to build the fucking fence. Hell we could get a few million workers by just picking up the men that hang around Home Depot, looking for work. Between the unemployed undocumented people we could "find", and the prisoners serving short sentences and including the military, the millions that are unemployed, and we have plenty of people to build the wall. The fact that in the year 2010, we can't figure out a way to secure our own fucking borders into our own country makes this country a laughingstock, we may end up deserving whatever comes our way, if we can't protect our borders and have some semblence of control into who/and what comes into our country. #2 This is more radical than #1! ENFORCE the fucking laws that are already on the books!! This is fucking insane and I realize it! Crack down on employers that hire undocumented workers! Stop allowing undocumented workers to have babies that are made citizens here. Enforce the fucking laws? Stop giving undocumented citizens the same equal rights and priviliges that American citizens have and that would stop them from coming by 75%. # 3- I don't think it is fair when people from other countries must go through so much to become a U.S. citizen, to even get a U.S. passport, and be turned down or wait years and years, and others can stroll in here and become citizens on the spot. Either give everyone in South America a pass, do something real about it, or give the fuck up. As a Mexican American told me the other day, this is our country, the white man took Texas and Arizona from us, this is our land we had for thousands of years! WE are the NATIVE AMERICANS! We are taking our land back! I think we should combine North and South America, and just be done with it.

What is unsure is exactly what all goes on there. The closest a civilian can get to the actual base is at Tikaboo Peak which is 26 miles away from the facility. If even one or two people try to cross the line and get closer the military knows immediately the point where the perimiter has been breached and they come running. If they can detect when one or two people cross the perimiter then I should think it would be equally effective detecting the "large number of motivated folks" that you speak of. So just maybe there ARE answers to be had by looking there.
