Lally your missing the point.

The site says in its terms of service pretty much hey some things are going to be offensive, I find this board that you calling out a profile youve judged it yourself as offensive.

Because its Only your opinion and judgment we get to see. YOU say its terribly offensive.

There is a report button their is a hide button, because you find it offensive doesnt mean Every person in the entire world will. Instead of saying hey i came across this profile thats degrading and demoralizing and says bad things about black people, you could have simply clicked hide and went on with your day.

You made it an issue and an issue not about racism, but about your personal moral code, and how the site should run its self by that code. And I dont follow your code. Im rather happy I dont.

I dont find the word nigger offensive, I dont find the word cunt offensive, I dont find many words or images at all offensive. Your telling me that no one in the world is allowed to use words that you find offensive which ALWAYS turns out bad...

Because power corrupts, and having the ability to say no more using that word... its wrong... and degrading... leads to well I dont really like... and...so forth and so on.

They are offensive to me, but cunt has the same level of offensive-ness to some people whether or not we agree with it.
The C word is hate speech to some people, just as the Q word is to others, depending on context.

That we give words so much power... what does that say about us?

But it is, some people get off on being called offensive and degrading names, Myself included.

Some people LIKE racist play and guess what if that person is seeking a person who like that kinda play its not your right or my right to say no to them as long as its consensual. Theres no proof stating that its just some random person calling every black person in the world a nigger, it sounds like he wants a relationship based on race that involves degrading play.

Some people like rape play, It again isnt your right or mine to say hey dont do it.

The thing with censorship is it doesnt stop and just one thing like a white person calling a black person a nigger. It never stops just there. And until the world can agree on a universal moral code, its always going to end up in disaster. Because no one has a universal moral code and when people start coming in and saying hey your calling your lover a nigger is just plain wrong, its going to lead to other kinks becoming wrong.

I agree with Lally. A photo lynching a young black girl is vulgar.

The idea that BDSM precludes ethics and personal dignity is ludicrous. Lally has every right to bring it up. BDSM as an excuse for outright evil is an extremely interesting topic.

The statement that "this is a BDSM board so anything goes" is preposterous. The sneering judgment that lally had no business posting about a profile offending her, might be minutely appropriate, maybe, if lally posted in something other than the Off-topic section. But she didn't.

It is lally's right to post if the profile upset her. It's also divi's right to ignore lally, report lally, go on about her life and "lighten up" herself.

Or alternatively, divi can whine about it. Over and over again.

This reminds me of the thread I read yesterday on Pro-ana where someone read about a slave whose master was starving her and she was now 67 lbs.

It was the same type of subject, are some things that are considered evil ok under the guise of BDSM or is everyone allowed to make their own choices.

Some people were very upset and thought there should be interference to save this slave's life (even though she was choosing to engage in the behavior) and others were dead set in their opinion that one's choices and kink should not involve others.

My thoughts?

People can do what they want but if you bring it to a message board or publically state it, then anyone who views it has a right to comment on their disgust of whatever it is.

I am also not in the camp that thinks being into BDSM makes everything ok to do.

I think you need to use some common sense when posting profiles or words since they have now escaped the confines of your brain into the real world and expect to have them commented upon.

SR it wasnt just the word it was the picture, it was the profile generally, it was the entire package. my value judgement i know, i reported it and i left it down to admin to deal with it. i believe the picture was the main aspect of their concern in the end.

i know its a big ask to believe me when i say it was grossly vulgar, grossly racist - i dont think that i generally come across an hysteric, i hope not.

it was admin that 'banned' the word ****er from cmails, if you dont believe me try sending it to me on cmail. it wont let you. the word has already been stopped, there at least. so that ship has sailed already and i suspect had done some time ago.

you can have every sexual, physical descriptive you want - no one cares about that. no one is stopping you from saying cunt- and actually no one is stopping you from saying ****er either - i just dont think that racism and sexuality should go together.

i have an inflammatory question to ask you. if you came across a pofile that was grossly and descriptively exploring their fantasy for paedophillia, what would you do.

i see both things in the same light. racism, paedophillia - both are morally reprehensible,

this isnt about vocabulary.

It would depend if the person is asking for age play or if the person is asking for the actual Act.

If someone was engaging in an illegal activity, then it would be very different then someone being racist.

Racism isnt illegal in america as of yet, and while its frowned upon, its not a crime.

Pedophilia, is a crime in nearly every country and is a jailable offense in nearly every country. But using bad words is not, and you have no proof the profile photo is of a lynching... and not of someone into breath play on a more extreme level. Or one made to look like a lynching that was aged.

I take from the opinion if we live by someone elses moral code most will be lost, because if i lived by my mothers moral code, there would be no blow jobs, their would be no sex out side of marriage, and there would be no masturbating. Because she believes all of these things are the most vile disgusting things in the world. You happen to have yours at racist words, mine is at rape in any way shape or form, and the person down the street is at movies depicting jake gyllenhaal. We all have different points of no return. and to say no one ever would be interested in such, youd be REALLY surprised. I just have watched censorship at its finest more then once, and it always ends badly when you try to interject your moral code upon someone else.
