How then do you explain Jefferson's writing on what he meant in writing the Virgina Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom?

quote:

Virgina Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom?

Is this the same Jefferson guy that wrote all men were created equal but held scores of chattled human beings? That Guy???

You want to know what he meant on the subject?

Do you want me to use his words on freedom of Religion or his actions on the freedoms of religion?

Your funny.  I wanted you to do exactly what I asked.  Sorry if it doesn't jive with what your pushing.

I'm so damn tired of all this religion bashing. Can't we all just get along? I don't jam my religious beliefs down your throat  & you extend me the same courtesy. How simple is THAT?

How about you don't read my posts in a thread about Islam started by a third party?
How simple is THAT???

And, actually, I have said little or absofuckinglutely nothing about my religious beliefs.

Your opinion conflicts with mine.
27% of British muslims admittedapproval of the London bombings. That's a small minority in an election, granted, but I can't characterie that as "small".

Similarly, some believe that terrorists recruit, train, and raise money in almost total secrecy, that only a tiny percentage are aware of terrorist activities.
Which just isn't possible.

So there we have it he neither criticizes, nor endorses the building of said mosque.  Furthermore  I stand by my assertion in two other threads that ALL ORGANIZED RELIGION IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!  The world would be far far better off without religion as we move forward.

I guess what surprises me is all the HATE from the right about this.  Where were their complaints when a Mosque was built into the Pentagon??  I mean if one can be built there and they did not care (or could it be political) why should this matter.  It can not be seem from ground zero (and we all know the Right has NEVER lied or taken advantage of that place) and it will have no outside emblems about the religion.

Seems to me, just another thing to raise hell about instead of answering questions about their agenda and their plans to help the middle class.  We all know how they support the top 2%

numuncular -> RE: Obama Supports Mosque - OR NOT (8/14/2010 3:11:08 PM)

is there any motivation for being opposed to this other than islamophobia (which, if you read up any internationally definitions on racism is relation to combating it, falls well within them)

I find it fairly shocking that in a country founded partly on the basis of religion that many people are seeking to demonise a section of their population on this basis. odd odd odd, and you can be sure that the few islamic fundamentalists bent on the destruction of america will be incorporating news reports of this intolerance and hypocrisy in their recruiting videos.

I guess you misses all of the street celebrations going on all over the Muslim World, banging pots and shooting off machine guns as if the Pistons won the Title.

there were not celebrations all over the Muslim world. As a matter of fact the only street celebrations were in PLO controlled areas of the West Bank and Gaza and there was swift condemnations of the celebrations from most of the rest of the ME nations.

It sources to cons and Murdock.

I`m sure there are New Yorkers who are legitimately disappointed. There are many who support the mosque.

Fortunately for Americans and unfortunately for cons, rights aren`t subject to the whims of popularity or which way the wind blows.

It`s become part of the GOP strategy for next election, too. This for what ever reason(fuxnews) has become a national political football.

Some con 2000 miles away is going to dictate the Constitution.Jerk.

But urinating on the Constitution also just part of what neo-cons do.

This is more of it.

And,what`s the down side for republicans doing this?

Brit here: That isn't even remotely true, approval ratings were and are a mere asterisk.

Edited this post 3 times now, shouldn't type while watching footie.

while I agree with you, and I'm not an american so its not 100% relevant to me, i find it wierd it seems like a republican vs democrat issue, after all arent the tea party people self styled defenders of the constition, the same one that guarantees freedom of religion?

Owner59 -> RE: Obama Supports Mosque - OR NOT (8/14/2010 5:26:27 PM)

Tea partiers are sore loser disgruntled republicans and neo-conservatives.What defines them is they are kinda selective on which parts of our Constitution they support.

Here's your asterisk, from Londonistan: pretty pictures.

I disremembered.

27% said they would not automatically warn authorities of another, impending attack.
6% (100,000 British Muslims) said the attacks were fully justified.

What is it then?

Those for and against the 1st Amendment?

I`ll take that.

Good. Shows he supports the Constitution instead of bending it to suit political agendas.
