Yes, you are quite correct in saying that America should be above this shit, that is as far as many of the rest of the world are concerned, the land of the free, the land of opportunity, the new world all things that America has been called in the past. America is only young, but built on a bunch of people who sought to give every citizen freedom from the oppression and tyranny their ancestors felt in the countries they came from, your American constitution is admired by many the world over.
For America to continue with this racist behaviour, this intolerance towards others, you are very much in danger of changing America into the very type of country your ancestors emigrated from, I bet your founding fathers are spinning in their graves at what America is in very real danger of becoming, that very thing they knew about from history that they sought this new land made up of other lands not to be.
Does it not give the American people pride that they are American before anything else and quite possibly all they need to be as to be anything else before American is going down the old paths of tyranny and oppression. Follow this root and there will be woe, America will just be another country that rose to stardom on the backs of great ideals, but became a victim of itself and collapsed into nothing. To illustrate this, look at the people of any one great civilisation, what they are now in comparison to what they were, some border on third world.
America the land of hope and freedom, do you want to see that replaced by America, ugh, why would I want to go there and all the economic possibilities that will be flushed along with your good name.
