A little further down in the second article :

"Post that the Muslim gunmen used rocket-propeled grenades (RPGs) to blow through the doors of the church and school, before burning Bibles and destroying every cross they could get their hands on."
Just sayin-

I do not neccesarily disagree with you julia. I support the right to burn the Koran, but do not support or condone it.
I do however, find it very frustrating that everyone gets their panties in a wad, when a non Muslim commits an act of sacrilidge against radical Islam. Just last month 10 humanitarian workers, who had been doing eye clinics in impoverished areas of Pakistan were ambushed and killed for carrying Bibles and allegedly being spies.  Supposedly because they had maps of Taliban areas, which of course are areas they gave aid to .  No one blinks an eye at that.

Even though he was "debriefed"  I'm STILL suspicious that they got set up by their driver.

Just a personal opinion.  That and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee at the corner gas station.

mnottertail -> RE: should they burn the quarun? (9/7/2010 2:13:43 PM)

difficult to whine about knee scrapes when the well is poisoned then.

if we weren't there in the first place, yeah, we could talk, but since we are blowing the shit outta their houses, killing thier cattle........ and a few of them all unwarrented like....

juliaoceania -> RE: should they burn the quarun? (9/7/2010 2:14:34 PM)

I do not agree with you that no one blinks an eye at that. I think we have little control over it. I may one day be one of those people who gets attacked for being the wrong person in the wrong place. Aid workers know the risks they take when they go to different places. Anthropologists have been killed and imprisoned for perceptions that they were spies, etc.

We are talking about conflicting values here, and we are talking about what our own people are doing, in our own country. We have a society that believes in freedom of speech, we also have a society that believes in freedom of religion. Right now these values are conflicting with each other in ways that concern us directly as a people.

I hate to say this, but if I get imprisoned because I am working in the wrong place, or executed, even, no one is really going to care.... it was a risk I took knowing as much. And then there is the point that people shouldn't necessarily care because it doesn't impact them as directly as what happens here.

I think this is a valid point, we have had an economic and political hegemonic influence in the region that is disproportionate to the influence that has been exerted by them here. And look, when they push forward to have places of worship and community, we freak out over it.

Then try "Muslims burn bible" and "Muslims burn church". Your search abilities are lacking and finding one example of two 13 year olds should have told you to search more.

Ha, the lefties don't want to piss off the people who hate us now would they?
Or maybe it's "piss them off even more than they are now?"
Get a clue, they don't like us now and no matter what we do they'll *never* like us so let's have some fun with them!
"Burn Baby BURN!!!"

mnottertail -> RE: should they burn the quarun? (9/7/2010 3:07:03 PM)

no actual cite in any of those, just some repeating of slop off a whacko religious website.

same sorta guys who brought you the poison koolaide (which by the way, I guess I could see why they did it in Guyana.)  But nothing with any truth that I can see.

show me some valid cite where it is illegal to carry one in say, Saudia Arabia....should be many many valid cites of that.

In any case, I could give a fuck, and it doesnt have much to do with anything...I don't guess you could swear an oath in this country on a Koran, even if you were muslim.

Even the kenyan had to go with the circumsized gods dick wiggler tome for the big one.

That same organization has been providing aid for 40+ years. During times that were much more unstable than they are now. And it was not an all American entourage, it was Aussies, Germans, Britons and 2 Afghanies.

You easily dismiss the killing of innocents, and put a portion of the blame on the US. A perfect example of what I meant by " not blinking an eye ".

I condem both. The Koran burning intenders and the extremists Muslims. You seem to be giving a pass to the extremist Muslims, yet not the extremist Dove  " Church ". I'm sure they have perfectly logical reasons for burning the Koran, in much the same way the murders of the aide workers had logical reasons. The reasons are not important to me, the actions are. There is no acceptable reason for either action, imo

mnottertail -> RE: should they burn the quarun? (9/7/2010 3:29:51 PM)

I give neither aid nor comfort to either of those, my enemies.

So, when the russkies went to clean that slop, and we did them like we always do, trained the guys and talked like we were gonna get them over on russia, and then dumped on them and they went down like a quarter hooker.........and now they aint buying our help nor are they cool with us running roughshod over their country (I don't see you inviting anyone from the middle east crying for peace into the succor of your home.....)

I'm giving a pass?   Nope, its in the void for me, and should be for anyone who wants to make that war over there, including you and those like you.

They didn't start the fire.........

So-called Liberals (aka Leftists) in Europe have enacted similar anti speech legislation,

In the UK they were passed by the right, not the left. New Labour made some amendments but the origianl act was passed by the Conservatives.

For the record, Ron : I have vehemently opposed  our presence in  both Iraq and Afghanastan from the get go.
You got the names and numbers of some Middle Eastern Peace Cryers looing for a good meal in Mass. ? They are most welcome in my home.[;)]
I do have Middle Eastern friends, ya know. I also am on the Condo Board here and I have hired and recommended Middle Eastern vendors more times than I can count. Think what you may, but don't presume to know the ethnic breakdown of my friends and aquiantences. I live in an extremely diverse neighborhood, and we live quite harmoniously together.

You can`t burn the Koran and say you`re just doing it against radicals. You`re outraging billions and billions of moderate Muslims as well.

I think you know that though.

And again, does the barbarity of our enemies mean we can be as barbaric?

If so,how do we define ourselves apart from the savages.

The idea is not to be douche bags,so people will want to associate with us.

MBMBN, how about we de-certify islam as a "religion" and reclassify it as a cult?
I'm on the condo board here and we hire mostly black vendors.

You are so damned ignorant... even cults have the freedom to be cults in this country...

We have the freedom to believe any way we like and to worship any way we want.

Popeye and sanity should fuck. It would be the first piece of ass those two have seen in years.

Would love to see what beds down with those understanding and intelligent men.

Popeye beats off to Howie Carr and Sanity holds a daily circle jerk with wilbur.
