I just wanna say... I'm dumbfounded to find myself on the same side in a debate on the Politics forum with Orion, Firm, and Thishereboi....

See, pot brings people together.

Woodstock, CM style.

Ok. Somebody needs to say it, and it might as well be me. Mature potheads can drive just fine, and do it stoned to the gills. Paranoia serves as a built in safety valve. Interstate 5, between Stockton and Grapevine, is the reason God gave us the joint. The same applies to Texas and a whole lot of the midwest.

Now this isn't a very good link, I'm afraid, but this 'puter is allergic to Adobe. If anyone can find a better one, please upgrade it.

Pot need's to be regulated in a way simliar to alcohol.I don't advocate harming public safety in the name of some fool's who get's stoned and drive's.Neither do I advocate drinking and driving.... Pot must be regulated to ensure public safety. It's commonsense.

How about if we just regulate stupidity instead? The roads would be a lot safer, all around.

I'm not advocating, just laying out the reality.

Yeah, California is "ahead" of the country but not in good things.
And I agree with you that we should legalize marijuana. I think they made it illegal in 1937 because some bum in Washington under FDR said it made "coloreds" violent or some such nonsense.
The Democrats have a ~long~ history with the KKK.

Your ignorance is overwhelming.
Do you only open your mouth to change feet?
Perhaps if you were to actually do a little research before you start shooting from the lip you would not embarrass yourself so often with such asinine posts.

The OP is right. This is an old topic. The answer is also the the same. This law will be meaningless if passed. Attorney General Holder has said he will prosecute those breaking Federal laws regarding this drug.

The president has already told the AG to keep his hands off medical marijuana users.
How many states do you suppose might have to legalize marijuana before the fed gets the msg.?

Legalize it?

Have enough studies been done in the substance to know its safe? Ive been told over and over oh pot its safe. Do they know its safe, where are the studies on its long term use?

If these studies have not been done why on earth would it be a smart thing to legalize a potentially dangerous substance?

Would it be all that difficult for you to go to google and find out for yourself instead of waiting to be spoon fed the data you seek?

The argument is that if we are not children, we should not be prevented from taking educated risks.

If they were actually educated risks youd have a point. This thread is proof of the paucity of understanding of the risks.

It is clear that you are the one with the paucity of understanding on this subject

~FR

Im surprised to see so many men want it legalized considering pot was linked to an aggressive form of testicular cancer a couple of years ago.

This from your link .

Ron, if you had HURT someone based on being drunk, they would sue you, the bar, and the bartender -- they don't sue the govenment because over the past 70 years people either have tried and failed or there isn't supporting case law for them to waste their time.

Or perhaps it is because before you can sue the federal government you need their permission.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_sue_the_U.S._government.

Note that this allows one to sue individuals not the government for that you need their permission as pointed out in the link.

The same voters that reelected Barbara Boxer and put Jerry Brown in the governors seat rejected proposition 19 Tuesday night.

We already do. "Drive responsibly and safely" doesn't work, so we have to lay out and enforce specific regulations, from speed limits to vehicle inspection to substance abuse behind the wheel to reading your text messages instead of watching the road.

And people, innocent as well as guilty, will continue to die at the hands of stupidity on the road.

I'm more than a little suprised that the liberal voters in CA voted this down. It was 54 % against, 46 % for. Not even close.
