Seriously Tim.....really? Where did I advocate getting stoned and driving?
Kick back in my own home.....smoke and have a drink, sure thing.I niether condone nor participate in driving under ANY debilitating influence. Not alcohol, not prescription pain pills....and not reefer!
p.s. Yes I do walk proud and for a myriad of reasons  ...the above being simply one of them.

O well.People are going to continue to do what they want.I am a law abiding citizen in every respect.I don't drive under the influence and I keep to myself.I don't bother anyone else with what I do.So,if America want's to keep wasting billion's of dollar's a year on this bogus war on pot, then go ahead.Waste your taxpayer's dollar's.Let law enforcement continue to waste their time on this, instead of focusing on catching real criminal's who really does pose a threat to society.Continue to waste valuable time and resource's.I am going to continue to live my life just fine, like so many other people do.

Do you smoke pot?

Then you aren't "law abiding".

Will you accept.....for the most part law abiding?
Do you ever change lanes absent a blinker? Exceed the speed limit ? Make an illegal u-turn?
Would any of those actions justify removing you from the ranks of the "law abiding"?

None of us are "law abiding" in the ultimate sense.  There are laws that everyone violates every single day, just that they aren't aware of them, or "the powers that be" aren't out for the individuals who are breaking the law.

I sometimes choose knowingly to disobey a law, but generally I am law abiding and yes, I accept your definition.

I was just making a point to Charles.

I thought this new wave of conservatism was about stopping big government from wasting tax payer money and infringing on personal freedom. That sure is a crock of B.S. The only proposition that reduced spending, created a new tax source and give people back a little personal responsibility was defeated by moronic fear mongering. Driving high is illegal and not too hard to detect, even without a breathalyzer. Show up to work stoned, get FIRED! Personal responsibiliy is about making choices. Freedom is about being allowed to make your own choices!

Anyone consider the economic benifit of hemp as an Ag crop? Or how legalizing marijuana might tarnish it's mystique and make it LESS appealing to rebellious teens?

The thing is, it was a poorly written prop. and I'm glad it failed. I'm just sick that it failed for the wrong, moronic reasons.

Legalize it?

Have enough studies been done in the substance to know its safe? Ive been told over and over oh pot its safe. Do they know its safe, where are the studies on its long term use?

If these studies have not been done why on earth would it be a smart thing to legalize a potentially dangerous substance?

That explains why alcohol, motorcycles and anvils are illegal.

I'm more than a little suprised that the liberal voters in CA voted this down. It was 54 % against, 46 % for. Not even close.

For the math challanged 5% is not a mandate

54% to 46% is an 8% loss, not 5%. CA is a liberal blue state. They voted prop 19 down, not conservatives.

You mean the wrong moronic reason that it was poorly written (including it being nearly impossible to fire someone simply for "showing up to work stoned").

sounds like a good reason to me.

I'm from the Netherlands and it is partly legal up here. In every city there are multiple places where you can get all kinds of soft drugs, which is a good thing. The use of drugs is lower in the Netherlands than it is in surrounding countries where softdrugs aren't legal. There are also less drug related problems up here. Altough you can get drugs very easily up here (not only the legal soft drugs, but also hard drugs like XTC and coke), it still has a negative image and people don't like to be associated with it. A lot of young people try softdrugs at some point of their lives, but only a very small percentage uses it at a regular basis or becomes addicted. In my opinion, governments should not apply all kinds of rules that have no point at all, but only limit people in their legal options in life.

54% minus 5% equals 49%.
46% plus 5% equals 51%.
This is pretty basic arithmatic.
