So, Pete Rose and Gene Garber are ironic how?

truckinslave -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 1:07:34 PM)

No.
That was an example of a clean miss.

mnottertail -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 1:12:05 PM)

Oh, a clean miss on a pitch.
But still no irony missed, nor any sort of point or import.

Hail Mary's ain't gonna win the game, and politicians who throw shit at walls seeing what sticks are not usually bothered with very long.

Try that again, how precisely did the bill get to conference committee? Was the language in question in the original bill passed by the Senate? So when did the Senators have an opportunity to debate the bill?

What part of "original" do you have trouble understanding?

Try it again. You're still missing something.

The original bill was the state budget and did not contain the anti union stuff. The governor's allies added it in the conference committee.

Well, "That is the hope of the doomed, how is it they don't have standing, they are talking about somebody they know, themselves. " is certainly a homerun applied to 0bama0>

Wrong again KenDoll. It was both. They only CARVED OUT the revenue portions of that bill, leaving the CBA provisions intact.

Caught in another lie, or just stupid?

Collective-bargaining has only been lost temporarily. In the long run Republicans will be recalled, the collective bargaining loss will be reversed and Republicans will be saying it wasn’t worth it because they will never be elected for a generation of voters.

Gov. Walker Changed The Budget Bill After The Senate Voted

The power plant provision wasn’t in the document passed by the Senate on Wednesday. Miraculously, it was changed before the Assembly vote on Thursday to include it.

Uppity Wisconsin:

“Thursday, the fiscal bureau was forced to correct its memo describing the bill, after unearthing some more buried treasure. Seems there were a few things the original memo forgot to mention:

This bill was passed under the transparently false claim that it has no fiscal impact. The sale of state property and changes in eligibility for EITC have no fiscal impact?

What do you think this article proves? It doesn't support your claim at all.

For instance the word debate appears no where in it. Here's the lead which makes it clear you have no idea what you're talking about:
quote:

A group of Democratic Wisconsin lawmakers blocked passage of a sweeping anti-union bill Thursday, refusing to show up for a vote and then abruptly leaving the state in an effort to force Republicans to the negotiating table.

servantforuse -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 6:40:15 PM)

Internal polls in Wisconsin fully support Scott Walker and the republicans. I was in Madison today having a guiness with 3 members of the state assembly. I might ad, republican members. Not to worry. The law will stand up to court challenges. The state budget in Wisconsin will finally be balanced'..

slvemike4u -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 7:24:49 PM)

So all that was necessary to "balance the budget" was smacking down some teachers?...While on the other hand sweetening the pie for big business in the form of increased tax incentives.
Typical Republican blueprint for screwing the working man ,while enriching the rich.

http://www.wpri.org/polls/March2011/poll0311.html
Wisconsinites are deeply divided over Gov. Scott Walker’s plans regarding public employee benefits, wages and unions, according to a Wisconsin Policy Research Institute poll showing 51 percent somewhat or strongly opposed and 46 percent somewhat or strongly in favor.
apparently not so much in favour of what he is doing plus other polls have numbers higher,
The Wisconsin Public Research Institute poll is the latest in a litany that has (with one or two exceptions) sent the same message regarding his plan, both on state and national levels. Last week Rasmussen, whose results are generally kinder to GOPers than other independent pollsters, found that 57 percent of Wisconsin voters disapprove of Walker, 48 percent strongly and that 56 percent of independent voters disapprove of him. And nationally an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released last week found that 62 percent found unacceptable the idea of stripping workers of their collective bargaining rights.

servantforuse -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 7:58:30 PM)

We will soon see if those polls are correct or not. What the country is seeing on TV is Madison, WI, the most liberal city west of the Mississippi. That is not the pulse of Wisconsin. Scott Walker was elected for a reason.

Keep digging your hole deeper, youre just making yourself look more like an ass than usual. Anybody who has followed the issues knows what was in and what had to be TAKEN OUT.

"The hard feelings came to a head Wednesday night when the Wisconsin Senate, in a parliamentary maneuver, removed budget provisions from the bargaining bill so it could be passed with fewer than the 20-member quorum required for spending measures. Fourteen Senate Democrats left the state last month and camped out in Illinois to deny Republicans the quorum they needed to act on the "Budget Repair" bill."

NOTHING WAS ADDED.

DomKen -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 8:51:57 PM)

I think you are confused.

How did the bill come out of the Joint Conference Committee? The only way that happens is if it was added onto an existing bill that the conference had to reconcile different versions passed by both houses. That's why the Assembly passed the previous version on Feb. 25th, after the Senators left the state.

Reagan: "Where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost."

slvemike4u -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 10:52:38 PM)

It would seem that in Wisconsin freedom is,at the least,a tad directionally challenged.

tazzygirl -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/12/2011 10:58:03 PM)

lol.. just read a piece where the wife of one of the senators there, Randy Hooper, told protestors at her home that he no longer lived there... he is living with his 25 year old mistress....

apparently thats how afraid he is of the threats.

Are you going to cite those polls or do we just have to take your word for it?

Reagan was a hypocritical asshole.

His busting of the air traffic controllers union set the precedent for what Scott Walker is doing today.

I think you are spinning so hard you look like a tilt-a-whirl. This is from the bill as introduced in January, and which the SENATORS skipped out on. Reconciliation hasnt got a fucking thing to do with it until each house has a version.

"This bill limits the right to collectively bargain for all
employees who are not public safety employees (general employees) to the subject of
base wages."
