And in 90% of the cases, that is exactly what is happening, b/c Dad works, Mom works, everyone is so busy.....who is responsible for making sure kids eat right? It's easy to blame the mother, but a mother who has to work has way too many responsibilities, too little time, and is pulled in all directions. The more kids you have the worse that is and being a single mother -- worse again.

I suspect those decrying the cost of a lunch, if you were that single mother with 4 kids, you would so much less likely to be willing to play the blame game.

I have a problem with this statement. My thinking--and I was a single mother of one--is that if you make babies, you now have to take care of them. I made many sacrifices in order to make sure that my daughter got what she needed from her parent, even though I was working & for a few years, working & going to school, she was still my number one priority. I know this isn't a popular thought, but I think if you can't take care of them, you shouldn't be making them. There are so many ways to prevent making babies these days. So why are these people who aren't making their children a priority getting a pass from you??

edited because he was just following whathisfaces train of thought.

but you are correct, one thing has nothing to do with the other.

So you dont think the idea of how we spend taxes should be related ?
It doesn't matter what subject I think should be related. The OP was about a school forcing kids to buy lunches, it wasn't about taxes.

I`d rather that we spent more on health and education than on an inflated war machine, thats for sure.
I'd rather they focused on cutting out the billions of dollars of fraud in the CMS programs. Think either one of us will get our wish?

What's way off in the future? Five Years? Maybe Three?

It's likely a child born in 2011 will spend their twelve years of primary and secondary education without textbooks as we know them today.

I-Pads, Kindles, Nooks and others will compete for that business

I can scribble in a textbook much faster than on a screen.  Same with highlighters.

Oh I see, we can only wander off topic as and when it suits you. I wasnt the first here to mention taxes, that would have been your right wing buddies. I notice you didnt tell them they were off topic. Kind of sums you up.

You claimed it was on topic and I pointed out that it wasn't. What a pity you couldn't just admit you were wrong without throwing in a few juvenile insults. As to telling them to stay on topic or telling you to, that's the job of the mods, not me.

edited to add: And I pointed out in my first thread that someone else started it. But I guess with your selective reading, you missed that part.

Yada yada and your miss perfect. People started questioning school meals as being a waste of money. I pointed out a bigger waste of money. If you cant see the link then boo hoo. BTW, loved the irony about juvenille insults.

I am sure someone pointed this out already, but it is spelled School.

Instead of lunches maybe we should be worried about the quality of the education.
