He's an oddball.  Never held elective office, a black man more conservative than mainstream GOP.  He's got no chance in Hell, but hopefully he'll add some flavor to a bland GOP race.

Black President, black GOP challenger... amazing how much has changed in just a few short years.

Black GOP primary challengers is far from a recent change.

Alan Keyes.  Good point.  He's pretty forgettable... Let's see if Cain can get further than he did.

You CAN'T be fucking serious.. Sir Winston Churchill wasn't being 'Churchilliian' or Churchilling Out' about ANYTHING to do with American Liberalism. He was talking about a formal party in the UK called the Liberal Party.
But I dunno, perhaps you've got some wealth of understanding that links the two movements together in some deeper way than there being a coincidence between the naming of a party in a kingdom and an ideological movement in an entirely different country. But I think  your use is a lot more like defining US Republicans as Socialists because the call China the People's Republic of China.

Is that bad? I don't quite understand why common sense combined with someone who stands for the issues which are important to you can't be found in one body. Wouldn't you vote for someone who did both for you?

Or, maybe it's just me. I'm bi that way.

Nope, not bad in any way. In fact, the REAL purpose of democracy is not to force one to chose a party, but rather to choose a path to the future the gaga fit one party with righteousness or another is so more likely for those who don't want to be bothered forming an ideology of their own. That's why we can register how we want and vote across party lines, right?

lol your a pretty good example of a unthinking liberal mind rushing to hostile judgement. Its one of the most famous quotes around and has always been read as talking about general conservatism and general liberalism as broad value systems, not as political parties and how youth is attracted to idealism but with age people see the world differently.

I find it interesting that the same people who claim any disagreement with a leftest black is dismissed as racism are the first ones to attack black conservatives as tokens Uncle Toms and race traitors.  They say that GOP needs to include more blacks but then says they don't count because they are GOP.  Only leftest think they can have it both ways.

I consider myself left leaning... show me where I have ever come close to saying anything like that.

You mean other than back on page 2 of this thread where you congratulated my honesty for using the term 'racist' to describe Republicans?  I mean, come on, at least pick another THREAD before making ridiculous statements like this.

You know, tazzy, I really should warn you... I may be new to this forum, but I'm not new to political forums in general.  Indeed this place is a pale shadow of the forum where I cut my teeth.

The simple truth is, my earlier statement wasn't an attempt at sarcasm - it was mockery.  Your response was EXACTLY what I was hoping for.  See, liberals have a HUGE blind spot for their own bigotry.  Simply put, it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to believe that liberals can be bigots in any way.  Even when they use pejorative terms like "tea-bagger" and "Yukon Barbie."  It comes from never really engaging in any self-examination.  If you were capable of understanding why using 'tea-bagger' as a pejorative for Republicans is homophobic (and it is), you wouldn't have fallen into my trap.  Instead you've been drinking the liberal Kool Aid for so long, you've lost touch with even the left's own claimed beliefs about what's hateful and what isn't.

I was a registered independent until the Democrat primary when Gore won. We have closed primaries here, so I wanted to have a voice in selecting a nominee. I was a registered Democrat for about 6 years. I am now a registered Green, but I tend to throw my vote behind alternative candidates.

I resent the idea that anyone "owes" their vote to one of the two major parties, and you see a lot of that from those democrats who are very active when they encounter registered indes that lean left... like we should not have options. I am for more options...

It seems his answer to dealing with the huge US debt we have is to lower taxes.

From what I read, that's not exactly accurate. He wants to do away with all fed income tax and lower corp tax by 10% while instituting a national flat sales tax of 23%. This would effectively lower taxes for the wealthy but it is likely to be detrimental to the working poor, college students and those on a fixed income who are barely making ends meet and still have local sales tax and state income tax to pay. For those with minimal or even zero tax liability, this will increase their taxes. So, the plan is to actually lower taxes for the rich and raise them for the poor for those who can least afford it.

With over 50% of working US Americans living paycheck to paycheck, we simply can't afford him. He really didn't have any answer at all as to how that was supposed to lower our debt but did say he would surround himself with those in the know which is going to be exactly the same folks who have been entrenched in DC for a very long time.

Obama already found out how hard it is to get shit done and said as much. Cain will, no doubt, run into that road block as well.

As for the crack about his BC, on that score, I agree whole-heartedly with Obama. It's trivial and silly and we can certainly do without it and get on with the business of trying to pull this country out of a pit that has our unborn already in the poor house.

Didn't see you mention anything about the prebate, which is a check everyone gets to offset their taxes in this idea. You are only taxed at the retail level, and some things such as foods would be exempt. The idea is that those people that pay $200 for a pair of sneakers will pay more tax than those that pay $20 at Wal Mart. This does not include capturing all the taxes from those that have jobs that do not report income; such as legal jobs where there are a lot of cash tips going on, to illegal jobs such as drug dealers, prostitution, etc. Those people will eventually need to spend that money, and get taxed, rather than now where they avoid taxes.

I don't like the lowering of corporate taxes.

You really did not give an accurate description of the 'Fair Tax", and I recommend anyone that wants more information go to fairtax.org.

If it is not something in the corporate interest, then it will be difficult to do. Have you seen any of his comments about corporations and PACS being involved in politics? I am not sure what his stance was on that.

Until we cut the puppet strings of the corporations, I do not see much of a difference in who is in there, except in very small differences.

Cain would likely be just another corparitist, just like most other politicians are.

How cons are trying to gain traction on race by featuring this black nut or Cornel West`s criticism of President Obama is telling.

Why all the focus on the guys racial make-up?

Why the need to?

You really have to ask that after we elected the current president based almost completely on his racial make up?  Or do you really want to try to make the case that a community organizing Senator from Illinois was better qualified and had more experience than either Hillary or McCain?

Wow,a double hit.Someone has some thin skin.

I know I didn`t vote for him b/c President Obama was black(actually half-black half white).

I seem to recall that the racial slurs, race baiting and racial code words came from the rightists.

I voted for President Obama b/c he was a super-star....like Paris Hilton......

Isn`t that what the cons told us?

No seriously, why Obama?  Hillary had more time in the Senate, and the White House (granted as First Lady), and the first woman president would have been every bit as historic as the first black president.  What qualifications and experience did Obama have that Hillary didn't?

As for your memory of racial slurs and race baiting, you're going to have to provide some examples.  I don't remember anything coming from the right...  at least not on the scale of "tea bagger" or the ubiquitous photos of Bush superimposed on photos of chimpanzees.

Honey, you are posting on a BDSM site! Do you honestly believe NO ONE here knows what teabagging means in the sense most of us take it?

You have GOT to be kidding me. Regardless of how people feel about a political party, there isnt a single kinkster who didnt know its meaning.

Your trap? You left your door wide open, and you got embarrassed by the response. Dont lay it at my feet, I didnt make your post.

Now, the question to you is.. why is that term a pejorative to Republicans?

http://theweek.com/article/index/202620/the-evolution-of-the-word-tea-bagger

Oh, and one more point... something Im sure many here will understand....

I adore cock, I enjoy cock... there is nothing about that whole region that is a turn off for me. I have tea bagged a few men in my life... I am hardly male... and they were hardly gay. To them the idea was met with eagerness... To say the tea bagging is a homophobic reference is indeed showing your ignorance.

So who am I being bigoted against? Gays? Republicans? Those of the tea party?

Should I get just as mad if someone calls me a bra burner?

Can you connect those two ideas?

Tea party members were talking about sending out tea bags to those in congress.

Women used to burn bras in protest.

Tea bagger? Bra burner?

If you WANT to see bigotry in something, you always can find a convenient excuse.

Oh, and one more point... something Im sure many here will understand....

I adore cock, I enjoy cock... there is nothing about that whole region that is a turn off for me. I have tea bagged a few men in my life... I am hardly male... and they were hardly gay. To them the idea was met with eagerness... To say the tea bagging is a homophobic reference is indeed showing your ignorance.

Tazzy, this cabal guy already has me bored.

Yo buddy,
We already know what you`re going to say.lol

We`ve already heard all the neo-con poop repeated ad infinitum here.

Dont judge me because I sin differently than you.
If you want it sugar coated, dont ask me what i think! It would violate TOS.

Funny I remember things being considered racist attacks when people said things like I disagree with him cause I think he is too far left.   Just cause you like how far left he is does not mean that I am racist when I don't.   Any disagreement with Obama has been met with cries of racism yet nobody has any problem with any insult aimed at Cain double standard ????   Obviously!
