Well, I was down to 122 lbs during the last CMBL thread, but a bout of birthday blues/seasonal affective disorder combined with painful ovarian cysts killed my drive to exercise or made it impossible when I did feel like doing it.  So now I weigh enough that my size 10 jeans are getting tight again.  I realize that doesn't sound like much, but I'm 5'3" and wear my great-grandfather's baby ring on my little finger.  I weigh too much for my height/bone structure and it's causing my GERD (acid reflux disease) to bother me a lot

Time to get back on the horse, but I need a kick in the ass.

Ok, first real post now that horses to get back up on have been duly cloned and distributed:
(P.S. there is no format here. Present yourself and your story however you like, and tell only that which you feel comfortable with. That is all, carry on..)

I am 44 yrs, 2 months and 9 days old, as of this writing. I am approximately 5 feet 7 and a half inches tall with a long waist and fairly even distribution of my weight, even in excess. When I weighed yesterday, I was running about 216, having lost 6 lbs. so far. I have never been truly obese but have been above the set norm since childhood (although now, looking back at the old photos, I can see that I was -NOT- a fat child. I passed the 100 lb. mark at 8 yrs of age. But I digress..).
I have been re-embarked on a program of personal improvement with specific regard to health and fitness for a few weeks now. I do not have exercise equipment in my home nor do I go to a gym (not anymore), but I do have a Wii with multiple programs on it that I use for exercise, which I use daily if possible and for a morning and evening session if I have the time for both, and with which I am very satisfied. I did not do my morning routine today due to time constraints, but I intend to make up for it this evening.
I also like to get out and walk, which costs neither money, gas nor electricity.
I have a good electronic scale which measures pounds/ounces, hydration and BMI (basal metabolic index), and a function on my Wii which does most of that too.
I am drinking CRAPloads more water and working up sweats in my vegetable garden.
I feel fantiddlyastic.

How about YOU..? [:)]

No worries on the meds i'm dropping, they are SSRUIs that are suppost to keep me from having nightmares, but they're not working anymore.[>:]
Otherwise in health, i've been laid up with a cystic ovary and i'm bloody tired of being sick.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: about food.

What Himself and I are also doing for our health and as a matter of personal principle is eating as organically as possible, where money and availability allow. We are confirmed and unapologetic omnivores. Milk, eggs and meat from local free-range providers and organically-raised fruits and veggies from same/farmer's markets, or at least the closest alternative that we can find in the grocery stores.

Better yet, if you have the space like we do, grow your own! Then by gods, you KNOW where it came from and what's in it..

Less artificial crap that you can't pronounce and that isn't good for you or the plants/animals infested with it is a goodness, and so is not supporting governmental fuckery and the horror shows in every stockyard and meat-processing facility they have their hands in.
All fast food across the board is pretty much right out, with the exception of Subway.

In just a few weeks of this we have noticed a marked difference in the way we feel, so I can bear true witness that it does in fact make a difference. This does not mean that YOU have to do it this way, but we personally advise the simple common sense of less crap and junk food and more natural foods, for the sake of your health in general as well as weight maintenance/loss.

Just sayin'.

I need to saddle up here, too. An immediate goal is weight loss. My nephew bumping the date of his wedding up bummed me out, 'cause I was going to use that as an incentive. Oh well, I guess it's back to just doing it for myself.

I would like to get into an exercise habit. Once that is established I would like to work on better nutrition (mainly portion control). I haven't eaten beef or pork in years and years (reasons: 50% health - 50% philosophy).

I just really want to treat myself well, instead of just "treating myself"!

ETA: I could lose 50 -70 pounds and I'm 5'5".

(((HUGS Fae))) ..it's times like these when I am especially grateful for my lack of feminine issues of that nature. Bless your heart, you are too young (and GORGEOUS, check those stats, gang!) to feel so bad. In my lack of useful suggestions, I hope that love and inclusion will suffice..

FelineFae -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 3:15:30 PM)

Now how's that gonna motivate me to drop my extra 11 pounds ??? [;)]

I know they say not to talk about big numbers on account of how daunting they can be, but nothing is daunting unless you allow it to seem that way. I am looking to weigh a nice, solid buck and a half (150), which means a loss of not quite 70 lbs. I have not weighed that little in the near part of 20 yrs.

I can do this.
I -AM- doing this.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 3:17:27 PM)

Here I am!!! We can start now. [8D]

I just got back from the Dr & she diagnosed me with a butt-load of arthritis & said I have to lose weight. I don't like these physical limitations one little tiny bit!!!

Now for the challenges:

I need to be on a calorie restricted diet & I have no idea how to count calories.

And I currently have pain that precludes my exercising very much.

Then there's the limited amount of money to buy real food.

SorceressJ -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 3:19:14 PM)

Love and the support of your peers can be a hell of a motivation, Fae.. [sm=hearts.gif]

mnottertail -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 3:21:02 PM)

OK, go fruits and vegetables.  eat all you want.  Farmers market if you got em, and dont worry about counting calories if that is the case.

or...

http://caloriecount.about.com/ and do your cheese and crap and....

Hey!  Just eat lutefisk!!!!!! that will restrict you.

FelineFae -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 3:22:52 PM)
