How sad is it that I remember when those things first came out?  And the cartoon too.

Those were some of my favourite toys.

In the last 8 months I've lost 35 lbs (varies from 35 to 38). I've lost 27 1/2 inches, and gone down 4 pant sizes.

The real success (for me) is maintaining the weight loss by watching my calorie intake and exercising four days a week.

I don't eat pork and "when" I do eat meat it's usually chicken. I stay away from cheese cause it's high in fat (I do lubs me some good sharp cheddar though). I drink 64 to 70 oz. of water a day (huge help).

I make sure to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I do my damnedest to stay away from snacking, but if I do, I snack on something low in calories (most of the time [8D])

I'm also mindful of not eating late at night. To avoid this I try and get to bed at a reasonable hour for me.

The one big key for me is not giving up if I eat something that I shouldn't.... I use to say "fuck it" far too often if I strayed from a diet. I use to say "fuck it" if I missed a day of exercise. I refuse to set myself up for failure, so allowing myself to be human and get side tracked occasionally is perfectly fine.

I've been rather stagnate for a bit as far as weight loss and I really want to drop another 15 lbs. I could say I want to drop another 30 but I'm being realistic at the moment and I think another 15 is doable.

I only have a couple of weeks left to work until summer break. I plan to keep myself busy, and as active as I can be. GOD help me, I'm going to attempt my first garage sale this summer which will take up a lot of time.

Any one wanna buy a nice 7 piece oak dinning room set with matching hutch? [:D]

WAY TO GO, girly!

I have the same issue with just saying "fuck it". I have done so in the past for different reasons, most of which were directly stress and/or apathy-related. Now, I know it's not as though my life is now so easy and drama-free that I shall no longer be subjected to the same or simiar impeti, but the attitude and perspective I have for all that has changed, and I am far less inclined to just say "fuck it" anymore..

health and fitness! whoo!
today during the jog, i started getting the urge to quit -- i tend to get insecure and pull the rug out from under myself. however today, i decided i was going to run a long stretch to a water fountain before stopping, and every time the "omgz i don't want to do it anymore!" thing popped up, i'd just say "nope, keep going."

i'm not used to pushing myself because most things come very easy for me. if i want to learn something, i generally just do it. so this whole experience of MAKING myself get out and do something that i'm unfamiliar with, like exercising outside where other people can *gasp* see me, it's quite an experience.

i think i might try to find a scale on craigslist and actually see how much i've lost.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 6:27:41 PM)

I got a digital scale at Walmart pretty cheap.  I think it was somewhere in the $20-$25 range.

FelineFae -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 6:28:46 PM)

i'm going to insist that the 48 oz of water in my bladder be deducted tomorrow when i'm weighed at the dr.'s office for the ultrasound.
It only seems fair.

Yeah, even the schnazzy one we got, that measures BMI and hydration quotients as well as weight, only cost $29.95.

I love threads like this -- its awesome to see people rededicating themselves to getting fit and back into shape or losing or gaining as someone said they need too.  So kudos to you all.

I have been on a journey since January to get back in shape while i am pretty much on track and happy with my success-- my biggest vices are not letting stress lead me into temptation and getting up in the morning to exercise. I focus mainly on low carb/high fat eating and watching my percentages of fats, proteins and carbs.  Right now, my macros are pretty much along the lines of 60% fat, 30% protein and 10% carbs.  As i lose the weight, the fat will go down as the carbs go up slightly.  I am still trying to wean myself off diet coke but well that is not happening very well.

I am hoping to get some professional pictures taken at the end of the year so that keeps me working hard to get back into a semblance of good shape.

So kudos to everyone for making the decisions they have.  I am a quote girl so to share some of my favorite Tony Robbins sayin's:

A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided.

And my true favorite:
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

i'm not really changing my diet too much, just eating less and exorcising more.

Was this intentional (vs exercising)?[;)]

Actually, I'd like to excise my adipose flesh!

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/24/2011 10:04:10 PM)

I had the opportunity to talk with a man last week who has back pain also, but his problems are worse than mine. And he helped me to remember who I am, that I don't let shit like this stop me. I need to lose at least 70 lbs, but would really love to lose 100-110. I came back from being run over by a car by being determined. Yeah, it took me two years, but if I didn't ever tell anyone about it, I don't think they'd ever know. I walked on hot coals. Twice. And didn't get burned. The lesson that the fire walking taught me was if I can do that, I can do anything I set my mind to do. And I don't want to be a crippled old lady, so I'm gonna lose it.

Besides, I want the horsie with the Spidey mask [8D]

Good morning, campers. If everyone would clone the pony in their lap and pass it down the row to the person behind them until -EVERYBODY- has one.. that's it, thank you, well done.
Welcome to the First Day of the Rest of Your Life!*yawns and grins*
Whatcha gonna do with it..?

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (5/25/2011 6:03:09 AM)

Yayyyyyy, a new CMBL's thread!!!
[sm=cheering.gif][sm=cheerleader.gif][sm=cheering.gif][sm=cheerleader.gif][sm=banana.gif][sm=alien.gif]

When the original thread was posted last year I wrote about my marathon training ups/downs.  I completed the Marine Corps Marathon Halloween 2010 thanks to the help of CM posters encouraging words.  When I posted on Facebook about being so discouraged in June 2010 that I wanted to sell my bib # on Craigslist (I even posted an ad & rec'd several responses to buy my bib) a CM'er send me links & encouraging words that made me realize how hard I had worked & the fight wasn't over.  I removed my ad & kept my bib.  Thanks to those words I was able to complete the MCM & display my medal proudly in my room to look at whenever I feel that I can't do something!

The reason for the above post was to let the old/new posters on this new thread KNOW that CM'ers will help you here & the other side!  You just have to want to do this for yourself! Don't lose weight ONLY for your other half, the accomplishments from the diet/exercise won't last long. You have to do it for yourself!  Sure, the other half can be in the equation....I want to look good for him/her AND myself.  Make sure YOU are in the equation too!

The hardest part is getting started & then keeping on track.  Follow the AA philosophy..."One Day at a Time".  Don't forget to stay HYDRATED!!!!  Ideally when you start a workout program 1 gallon of water a day is recommended. No not all at one time but throughout your day keep drinking water.  Love coffee in the AM? Drink a bottle of water before & after the coffee.

Ron (mnottertail) was a wonderful resource (and a$$ kicker) in the last thread!  When SJ said she was starting this thread I was hoping that he would post his wonderful words of wisdom & kick a$$ here too![:D]

I kinda see where LastThoughts is coming from. There are times when I tell clients to stop with the kidding amd focus and as long as they consider gym time to be joke time, they're never going to get anywhere.

This is so VERY TRUE< Ghita!  When I was working out w/a PT doing "Boxing for Fitness" he & I had a great rapport and at first he put up w/my joking around but after I recruited a friend to join us (who was VERY easily influenced and not very motivated) he let me know that my guffaws at my less than favorite exercises would not shed a good light on her nor will it put ME in a good mindset to complete the exercise.  I still use that philosophy whenever a Group Exercise Instructor tells us to do things I don't enjoy. I mentally make that my favorite exercise.

**Eta, when I'm working out on my own I put on my headset & pump up the music. I don't want to chat w/anyone. I figure if I have enough breath to chat I'm not working out hard enough. Same w/reading on the stationary bikes or other equipment, hard limit for me!  I need to focus on the workout.  If I can read I'm not working out hard enough.  I'll get nauseous if I try to read while working out on the machines.  Ladies & Gent's, Perv's & Pervette's, it's ok to kid around before & after your workout but please try & focus on the muscles you're using during weight (strength) training in addition to cardio.  I know that there are many that can't push themselves beyond a slow stroll & that is fine. Go out walking w/a friend or just you & your audio (some like music, some books on tape...whatever works for you). You're doing SOMETHING to help yourself and that's great! I'm sure that doing that slow stroll will make you feel like you can pick up the speed for a short while, then a longer while.  If you have conditions that prohibit weight lifting or cardio try water aerobics or even just walking thru water.  That's a great workout in itself!**
