Dinner tonight was;

4 oz Salmon
3/4 cp Corn nuked with Low-Cal Margarine
1 Roma tomato w/ 3/4 cp Raw Spinach & 1 tbsp Tzatziki

12 oz G2 Sports Drink at 30 calories, trying to get over some dehydration from getting sun-sick.

Does anyone else have a 'go-to' diet ?
When i start to feel poorly, or notice my jeans are a bit snug, i go on my "red/green diet".
For about a week i eat nearly raw red meat, and red veg', and lots of dark green veg'.
i get lots of goodies that my body needs this way, and am able to eat more of the "good food" since i'm not full off of carbs.
Don't get me wrong, i feel that carbs are our friends. It's nice to have the energy to do stuff.
But its hard to get all those veggies in that we're told we should be eating...
Any thoughts ?

That was a great post, Fae. Duly noted and I'll have to think on it. Keep the excellent meal ideas coming, except.. what is tzatziki, please? If you already explained I must've missed it..

<-- likes tahini and sushi and stuff with weird names, especially if it's good for you..

ACK!!!! Your avatar goes through those words much too fast for my brain. Yowtch!!!

I loves tzatziki, even though it has mint in it. Although I used to make something very similar without the mint before I even knew the Greeks had done it before me.

In some of the other discussion boards where they focus on fitness and losing weight they have "challenges and competitions" amongst themselves to help them stay motivated and goal oriented.  Some are weight loss goals, some are exericise challenges, some are things like drinking all your water or getting your goal of veggies in etc.  Some of them are walking challenges.

Say for the month of june, you have a minutes exercise challenge -- people post today what their goal for exercising in minutes is for the month of June and then they strive to meet that goal in the month of June.  For example, someone who wants to do some form of actual exercise per day for 30 minutes would have a goal of 900 minutes for the month of June.  And every day they post how many minutes towards their goal they have done.  At the end since you all like posting pics and stuff you can "award" those who reach their monthly goal with some "trophy" or such which is a picture of the thing.

Just thought i would pass this idea along.

Might I suggest long walks in the evening if it's cooler for you, SJ?

Yes, walking is my friend. I don't do it enough, anymore. Speaking of which, I am really diggin' Lin's new notion of walking with other ladies who have physical issues of some flavor - WTG with the mutual support, there!
At the moment, though, my main impediment is not the fargin' heat, it's moonrise.. which has sapped what energy I have and replaced it with pain, odd swellings, and a deep lethargy.. all of which will be better in a day or two, and most especially when the new air conditioner arrives and I can breathe again.. [&:]

My apologies, SJ. Having not had the moonrise in several years I'd forgotton how draining it can be.  I LOVE menopause even tho it came earlier than the norm it's been nothing but a blessing!!![:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Last night I did my strength training which consisted of upper AND lower body work in addition to back extensions and crunches. It took 1hr to complete. I was going to do cardio at the gym too but the a/c was not working & they only had the fans running. I decided if I was going to suffer thru the heat I was going to do so outside where the air was a bit fresher!  Thankfully I did because as I was walking the dog we found a loose puppy and were able to reunite her w/her owner!

I've kept my eating clean and my calories high enough this week but I still feel very drained of energy today. Most of that I know is my lack of restful sleeping. I did still workout, just not as intensly as I would have liked.

After my warmup I did deadlifts, 10@95#, 10@115#, 5@125#

Then :
25 pullups (assisted)
5 burpee
15 pullups
10 burpees (supposed to be 15)
5 pullups
15 burpees (supposed to be 25)

Burpees always wipe me out. I need to do more of them.

Now I'm sitting down eating an apple and drinking a protein shake. In a bit I'm going to go sit in the sauna and then take a shower.

Help...any ideas about nutritious, soft foods?

YoungBlondeSlave -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/1/2011 10:20:03 AM)

I'd have to say my "go to diet" when things are tough is brown rice & salsa in addition to cold cereal & fresh fruit.

Reg. the veggies, my girl cuts up raw carrots & celery everyday for my lunch otherwise my veggie intake would be pretty non-existent, not because I don't like them but I'm just too lazy to fix my own food! Sad but true, my idea of cooking is making rice.[:)]

GhitaAmati -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/1/2011 11:18:48 AM)

Tofu
Whey protein powder mixed in milk/soymill/almond milk/pudding....
Hard boiled egg whites
Smoothies made in the blender with a mix of protein and fruit
Avocado

Malt-o-Meal. i think that has to be the most fortified of them all.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/1/2011 11:55:31 AM)

It is Trapped.  I love chocolate malt a mill when I can.  What did you get done?

I was pricing whey proteins today.  Walmart has a decent one for 19 dollars and it is in triple chocolate...[:D]

I will buy one since I am trying to get a semi-liquid diet flowing. (pun intended)

FelineFae -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/1/2011 12:26:04 PM)

Chaos would side with you that Malt-o-Meal should be on the sweet side. i was raised with it buttery and salty and savory. To me, the idea of the chocolate flavour is the same as topping mashed potatos with chocolate syrup.

trappedinamuseum -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/1/2011 1:01:40 PM)

What the hell is Malt-o-Meal?

Eating mashed potatoes and gravy now.

Malt-o-Meal is a hot cereal thing. You can find it near the oatmeal at the store. Looks like cream of wheat or cream of rice, that sort of thing, when cooked.

I don't eat hot cereal. It is a texture thing.
