Wow, no posts since 6/30??  Guess everyone's in shape & doesn't need help anymore!  I still need help so here I am....I just purchased "Hip Hop Abs" from the "Insanity Beachbody" series.  It should be at my doorstep either tonight or tomorrow.  I'll give it the promised 6 days to see a difference!

I have that series.  You'll need a good sized space to do the workouts.  It's really designed to be used in a class setting in a fitness center, but if you can move furniture around so you have a large open space, that will work.  You also need to be in fairly good shape already.  Just the warm up that teaches you how to do the tilt-tuck-tighten signature move is FREAKIN HARD.  Or at least it was for me.

My house is pretty small and I have a lot of furniture so I don't really have enough room to do the exercises.  I also lack the endurance to keep up.  The exercises move fairly quickly, so if you don't have the signature move down, they'll be more difficult.  Spend plenty of time on the intro video until you can do the tilt-tuck-tighten move like clockwork.

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 12:23:31 PM)

Thanks Sylvere!  Good to know!  I'll move the coffee table before I start the dvd[:D]

**Eta, did you see a difference after a week**?

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 12:26:35 PM)

if it's not sore anymore, it should be okay with a bandaid =) amazing how little soreness there is now that the glass is out. ^_^

i'd like to know if HHA was an effective video, too. ^_^ did you notice improvements?

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 12:29:40 PM)

I didn't notice improvement.  However, I also wasn't able to do the workouts properly due to lack of space and endurance.  I'm building up stamina via cardio first while I try to figure out what to do about lack of space.

SorceressJ -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 1:11:20 PM)

Thank you, my sisters. Posts on this thread were EXACTLY what I needed to see today. I am so proud and grateful for all of you, and for your camaraderie and faith in one another and in yourselves.

I have personally just come off of several weeks of issues, both physical and mental. I am not able to do my Wii and other routines right now because 1. my living room is full of boxes that are being prepped to go to storage (so yeah, space issue for me too. luckily mine is an easy fix), and 2. because there is no air conditioning in my house, and if I tried to throw down in this heat like I need to, I would be ill (this is also a temporary thing. the new air conditioner should be here and installed in a day or two at the most. this is also about when my living room should become devoid of packing boxes. nice how that works out..).

Yes Pots, we still need help. We still need this thread, and each other, and we still need you to come badger us sometimes.
All hindrances are either imaginary or fixable.
Onward. [sm=banana.gif][sm=banana.gif][sm=banana.gif][sm=boxer.gif]

Good news though...I have to do PT and chiropractor.

I am down here in Austin for Lizard's doctor's appt.  She has to get her shot.

Oh...we got a new exercise bike/ellipatel machine.  Can't wait til I get home to work on it.

I have gone 2.5 months without Diet MD....I hate detox..

Wow, I'd completely forgotten this thread exists!

I've lost about 20 pounds in approximately 10 months, all by simply eating properly. Lots of veggies and fruits, little meat and grains, and voila the weight is coming off.

KeriB -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 4:00:47 PM)

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for a low impact, high intensity workout video. I have a slipped disc in my lower back and was swimming, but have moved to a city that doesn't have a gym or a pool that I can swim laps in. I'm wanting to loose about 30 pounds or so total.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 4:08:27 PM)

i dunno how "high-intensity" you're looking for but leslie sansone has some really fun "walking" videos that you do in your house. they're more like aerobics, and there's a bit of a christian slant when she talks, but if you don't mind that, she's actually really motivating. =p my mom has one and if she can motivate my mom, then that's saying something. my mom was riding with me when i had the reeeally bad car accident and she was chucked out of the car. she had a lot of really bad bruising that turned into all sorts of joint problems, limited range of motion, etc etc.
but she really sticks with the video she has by leslie sansone, and has fun doing it, and she's lost weight without aggravating her old injuries. she can walk further now without getting out of breath. i actually really like the video, too, and it does get your heart rate up.
you can buy them at walmart for like $10 -- super cheap. this one is 4 miles, but it's broken down in 1 mile increments so you can do however many of them that you want to do, or that you have time for.

So this is where everybody is!! Where the hell have you all been anyway?? So most if not all of you know that I haz teh arthritis in my hips & I'm on a major narcotic for the pain. I'm probably going to need hip replacement surgery. In the meantime, the pain is pretty well under control with the pills. I'm also experiencing more depression than usual. I just got put on a new anti-depressant. So it will be another couple of weeks before I know if that's working.

I guess I need to get my butt to a WalMart for the dvd & try some walking here in the apt. The guy upstairs brought me down an old small screen tv. I could also watch on my computer. I tried to give up caffeine, but I'm Norwegian. I don't know what the fuck I was thinkin!! So I've ordered a mass quantity of Stok's & that should help with my energy blues. I was posting here for awhile but it seemed like people only posted sporadically so I gave up. It's no fun trying to motivate yourself by posting to a thread like this all alone.

Y'all keep comin back, now, y'hear?????

Is this a girl only thread? I don't want a bunch of ninja women waiting to jump me for being privy to their workout secrets.

Well I started lifting again last year. Not a stranger to weights but this is the first time I am putting a bodybuilding diet together with it. When I joined my gym in Feb I was at about 31% bodyfat. I went from 290 pounds to 332 pounds. I have added a lot of muscle in the past four months and some fat along with it. Last week I started cutting my calories back. From 4220 to 2330. So far I have dropped about 10 pounds. But most of that is just water. My goal isn't a certain weight, just to get down to about 10% bodyfat.

As far as weights are concerned I want to be able to curl 250 pounds, deadlift 600 pounds, squat 500 pounds, bench 400 pounds and military press 300 pounds.

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/18/2011 7:26:42 PM)

Kick ass Blacksword -- looking at body fat percentage is a good thing to concentrate on especially with guys as they tend to build muscle while they lose fat.  Congrats on your success.

KeriB, those DVDs are called i believe WAlk away the pounds and she has walk at home.  I know this may sound crazy but you may want to see if your doc can refer you for PT and then what you should do is bring in tapes you are interested in and go through them with your PT so even if it's not something you can do, they can show you an alternative move.  I think most tapes are huge high intensity with higher impact BUT many have alternative moves for low impact.  You may want to look perhaps into power yoga.

Here is a link to view the Walk at home videos --

Good luck -- i have back issues and it sucks when you are trying to get in shape and get some exercise in.

I just checked & both of my new medications have "loss of appetite" listed as side effects. I do like not having an appetite, but of course my body's going to cling to this weight through the famine. *sigh*

Try swimming and/or aquafitness, angel. Both are gentle on back/joint pain but can help you get in shape.
