i had to slack off a little; not because of the glass issue, that healed up surprisingly quickly. the sprained ankle came back with a vengeance, even though it had been days and days since it actually happened.
last night i stuck it in a basin of nice warm water and this morning it's feeling a heck of a lot better. tonight i'll probably go out and see how much progress i've lost haha

I went to the Dr today about the fat feet problem. She gave me her definitive diagnosis: fat feet, unknown etiology. LOL I had gained 3 more pounds, since the fat feet are becoming the fat legs. She gave me a higher dose of diuretics. I really really hope that's the solution. She also tried to tell me not to eat so much sodium. I don't. She tried to tell me not to eat so much junk food. I don't. She tried to tell me to read labels since lots of foods have hidden sodium. I already do. It's amazing to me how these health care people want me to fit into their tidy little box due to my weight. I don't!!!

Hey Lillybopeep, try a little epson salt when you soak your ankle it will help with the healing and with the joints, if your ankle is swollen throw epson salt in the icewater.  FYI, its great for sore muscles and bruises.

Take it easy when you get back out there -- wear a brace or tape that ankle for at least 3 months.

You don't want to aggravate your ankle. But sometimes a little walking helps.

Okay, if you want to get in a lot of exerise paint a room in your house lol.  I just spent the weekend painting my bedroom  with outlining the ceiling and then putting 2 coats on same, then outlining the walls and priming same, then outlining and painting the walls -- i got a juge workout this weekend.  luckily i am tall enough wherein i don't need to use a ladder but that could be added exercise going up and down.  I had to move my furniture around as well but luckily i had those nifty furniture slider thingies.

My scale says i lost 3 lbs since i weiged in on Friday,, which is cool.  AND in the end -- not only do you get a good workout, you have a pretty new room at the end of your workout.

You know, I've been dying to finish painting the house.  Now I have even more incentive.

impishlilhellcat -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/24/2011 1:56:18 PM)

I'm coming here for motivation.

Now that I'm off work I've been back to eating healthy. I haven't quite made it back to several small meals a day. I'm barely back to three well rounded meals a day! I let my pattern get highly disrupted when I was driving two hours to get to work (each way) and eating only one meal a day.

I've been walking the dogs everyday and praying really hard that I get a treadmill for my b-day the SO knows I've been wanting one very badly. I've also been drinking lots of water. Unfortunately getting dizzy doesn't work so well with exercise sometimes. Nor am I allowed to drive myself to the gym so I've been working really hard to find exercise at home.

Yesterday not only did I Hike 4 miles, but I also did some swimming. My calfs hurt today, but I feel really good!

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/24/2011 4:01:17 PM)

Snorts, i still have my living room and kitchen to do and as the living room has 12 feet high ceilings, i seriously am considering hiring someone lol.   But i will do the kitchen.  My comments were so everyone else could do it and i can well umm rest!!!

Hell the prepping for same is a work out also, i scrubbed down walls, washed the carpets, cleaned and polished the wood edging around the whole bloody room lol but that was last weekend.

Impishhellcat, becareful of your dizziness  - and you are released from the doctor to exercise, sometimes raising your heart rate can harm your heal and recovery.   I don't know if your dizziness has been diagnosed, but seriously get a release from your doc as to what you should be doing. To me, if you aren't allowed to drive, i would think your doc would have issues with you raising your heart rate etc to the point it does when you actively exercise.

Sometimes, you have to simply allow your body to heal and the exercising will still be there when you are.

They haven't diagnosed it as of yet. It's been going on for about a month now. Course one test once a week for the next three weeks doesn't help matters any. She didn't say anything about exercising. I think she's inclined to think that it is caused by stress although I'm not really stressed at the moment other than a little bit of anxiety due to dealing with work and how to approach the doctor about a couple of tests that others have suggested(such as a CBC or looking at the pituitary gland or possible seizures). I'm not pushing myself as I used to just trying not to become a couch potato as I spend time at home. I'm trying to remain motivated I fell out of the mindset for a little while. Fortunately for me or unfortunately I have a relatively low resting heart rate and it really does take a lot to get my heart rate up above 80. A little walk with the dogs helps deal with the stir crazy quite a bit. If I can get back on the regular small meals mindset that would be fantastic!!

With swimming you can work just about every muscle you have.Even the ones you didn't know were there. The only one that might be hard might be your shoulders. But you would have to be totally under water to simulate the military press.

I drink a gallon of water (give or take 16oz) a day & always take a bottle with me when I'm out walking.  Learned that the HARD way when I was training for a marathon in Oct.

How did you do in the marathon?

I finished it & rec'd my medal[:D]

Friday night they had a new instructor for "Body Sculpt" class and did she work us!!  But I was very thankful and will definitely be attending more of her classes[8D]

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/25/2011 6:41:55 AM)

I skipped my walk Friday night but did my HHA.
I did 3.5 miles on Sat & Sun in the brutal heat. Good stuff!
My girl & I went to a Farmer's Market & purchased lots of fresh fruit & veggies to keep my snacks healthy & filling.
I do admit to drinking 5 wine coolers Sat. night & had an apple turnover from the Farmer's Market, but did really well yesterday & kept it healthy[;)]

Yes, I know. I think I felt the hike more than the swimming mainly because my arms and shoulders hold their muscle well. I have broader shoulders to hold the bewbage. Odd as it sounds my body especially my arms will put on muscles like you would not believe. The issue I struggle with the most is my core. I actually enjoy swimming quite a bit. This particular bout of swimming was more about cooling off and having fun though I must admit.

I love summer and the farmers market. Since I no longer have a garden it makes it easier to live off of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs! SO many things you can do. This little beach town here in MI has this AMAZING olive oil/balsalmic vinegar store. OMG you can make so many dressings... ETC... peach vinegar, walnut oil etc.. AMAZING!

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/25/2011 11:19:40 AM)

Wine coolers??????? How old did you say you are, Miss Potty?? [8D]

I had a huge 2-day pity party this weekend. Thank god I got that outta the way!! My niece sent me some yoga cards & I'm going to see if doing those exercises/moves will help to make my hip flexors happier. Someone mentioned something about "prehab" before hip replacement & it makes total sense to me. The better the shape I'm in before the surgery, the easier & quicker I will rehab after it.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/25/2011 11:28:34 AM)

There is nothing wrong with wine coolers.  When I need a alcohol fix, I have 1 or 2 of them.

Its the beer and hard liquors that I can't stomach (well, maybe a shot or 2 of amaretto).
