thanks blacksword. :)

i'm thinking about trying snowshoeing, ooor at least getting out and sledding as much as possible; the hike back up the hill has to be some good exercise.
i'll probably get some new workout videos and try to find a cheap set of weights on craigslist.

you're right -- extra work, over winter, fun to be had in summer. :)

Hi Lilly:

I can mail you my "Hip Hop Abs" dvd if you'd like.  I just can't get into exercising w/videos.

Sounds like fun work. A lot of people sell equipment during the winter only to buy it again in warmer months. So you should get a pretty good deal. I recommend getting metal weights over plastic and cement.

Signing up for my first Triathlon on Nov. 7th!

Kind of getting into this being an athlete thing...

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/24/2011 4:43:06 PM)

Hey Lilly,

Shoveling lol.  People may actually pay you for doing it also.  Another good one is cross country skiing.  Its the live version of the eliptical! Also, if the snow gets deep enough, pull on some boots, snowpants and walk through the unshoveled snow.

Wow a Triathlon is awesome, good luck.  I can't even do an athlon!  So kudos to you.  Keep us posted on how you are doing in your training and how you do!

Kudos to everyone doing well and moving towards whatever goals they have made.

angel

i'll be out at 3 a.m. during Nebraska's customary 40mph winter winds. yaaaaay...

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/24/2011 4:55:58 PM)

Well there ya go, think of it as getting paid to exercise lol.

DonGiovani -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/25/2011 1:44:05 AM)

Pulled off a full 10 minutes of kettlebell snatches last night.

Gonna enjoy paying for it today!

I have finally figured out my problem. Actually I knew what it was it just seems to have manifested itself more ever since I started WW's. I am an emotional eater. I swear junk food when I'm stressed, hurting, happy etc.. is like a drug for me. I'm going through some major crap right now midterms, personal stuff, annnd moving... What do I do? Stop working out and turn to junk food! I abdicated from WW's for three weeks. I did force myself to get out and run a couple of times in the last few weeks and always walk the dogs. I need to get my butt back in the gym. I know I keep saying that, but I swear if I make it through this week I will make time somehow someway to use the recreation center at school. Oh yeah, and quit the junk food again!

Weight Watchers was amazing for bringing awareness into my eating...

impishlilhellcat -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/25/2011 6:23:03 AM)

I think WW has good and bad points. It brings awareness to eating. It absolutely made me think about what I was eating and how much. However, it doesn't deal with some of the underlying issues nor does it teach how to overcome some of those obstacles and downfalls that people experience. For example being an emotional/mood eater. That's been my greatest difficulty like I said junkfood is almost like a drug a for me and sometimes I can ignore the call and sometimes not. So, for the most part WW's works for me. It makes me eat healthier and portion control, but when I hit a rough patch and I can't ignore the stress or the call of junkfood I go rogue. Although for whatever reason being in the gym and actively working out hard helps kill those junk food cravings. Must be the release of stress.

I have a formula that works for me and most of those in our group; we call it our nutritional investment account and treat it as we would dollars, we budget calories, when we look at a menu we decide if we will spend that many calories on that meal. Most of us eat five or six meals a day and have a very low calorie budget so selecting the right food balance is important but no one in our group has excessive body mass and ironically the more disciplined we are the more energy output is available to us.

FR,

Why crash diets result in yoyoing:

Hormones feed hunger after weight loss, researchers find

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/29/2011 6:50:02 AM)

Exactly kalik, as I wrote elsewhere, I've been losing weight slowly but consistently 26 lbs to date over the last year or so. I have had no problems whatsoever keeping the weight off. The problem with going on a diet rather than making changes to the way and what someone eats it diets end when the weight is lost - and the weight comes back. I will be eating this way for the rest of my life making adjustments for things I need more/less of as I age.

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (10/31/2011 10:05:13 AM)

I did the Marine Corp 10k yesterday morning and while I'm happy to have finished I was a bit let down that I didn't do the marathon this year.  Getting my medal was great & the handsome young marine who had his pic taken w/me made it all worth while but I kept remembering how HIGH & EMOTIONAL I was when I crossed the finish line at the 2010 marathon.  I'm seriously thinking about doing the marathon in 2012.

Props! Any finish is a good finish!

And to toot my own horn today, picked up a new toy; 24kg (53lb) kettlebell AND ground out 5 minutes of Turkish Get Ups.

Yup... I'm a stud :D
