FR

HA! Just weighed myself. I weigh 143 which means that in just under a year and a quarter I've lost 30 lbs. [sm=yahoo.gif]

Awesome Fire! ^_^
[sm=champ.gif]

I've been drinking a ton of Gatorade, and I'm finally back to sleeping normally, and I don't feel like a dessicated tamale wrapper.
I guess my body had gotten used to the weird dehydration I was having (bouncing back from being really depressed and not taking care of yourself for 2 years takes longer than you think, in a lot of ways) -- my electrolytes were so horribly out of whack once I started being healthy and exercising and drinking lots of water.

Thanks, Gatorade!
I'm kind of amazed by it all. :p

SEE jj?! I was right, huge jugs are needed to get attention. And in this case a woman is commenting. I'll bet the mens are too disgusted to do even that.

Yay Lilly. I'm not surprised though, my body is used to a whole lotta water and if I don't drink it everything feels yucky and I feel really tired. So yeah my guess is that your body was used to all that hydration and rebelled when it didn't get it.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/3/2011 11:18:53 AM)

Your boobs really aren't big enough to warrant a response. tsk tsk!

Actually, what I think happened was that my guts adapted to being dehydrated. :p Then when I started drinking water and working out more, I washed my electrolytes away. No matter how much I drank, I just felt worse and worse. The Gatorade saved the day. ^_^

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/3/2011 11:24:33 AM)

I think that your electrolytes were depleted by being dehydrated which is why Gatorade is teh awesome. I don't know about them being washed away by starting to drink water again but that doesn't sound right.

Yeah I'm ignoring the rest of your post <sniff>

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/4/2011 8:25:39 AM)

Putting on work clothes that I haven't worn since last winter really gave me an eye opener.
I feel newly motivated (well, if I didn't feel like a zombie from being up all night in the freezing cold).
Last time I wore that stuff, I couldn't pull the jacket down over my hips without it being REALLY uncomfortable and riding back up.
This time, it just slipped down, no problem. Plenty of room for movement.

That was really exciting. :)

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/4/2011 8:28:25 AM)

Don't you just LOVE it! I just bought new pajamas because the old ones fall off me. Granted I buy them over sized but there was a time when I didn't need to pull the drawstrings tight. YAY US!

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/4/2011 8:39:00 AM)

Yay indeed. :) Hooray for comfy new jammies ^_^
It's a nice feeling to get something new in a smaller size. hard work pays off!

I don't feel like any of my pictures accurately represent me anymore, but I'm also not where I want to be, so I don't think I'll take a new one.

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/4/2011 8:42:49 AM)

I disagree, I think posting one showing where you are now is a good thing. Nothing wrong with showing the new you, you worked hard to get there.

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/4/2011 12:13:26 PM)

lillybopeep,

Take the pictures even if you don't want to show anyone. Keep them on the computer or in a drawer or something - you will be glad you did as you continue to move towards your goals and you have recent ones to compare it too.

Congrats again on your success!

angel

Hey all,

Thought i would post this article as they are some tips from celebrity's trainers and many of them do sound like common sense lol but it's a good reminder during this holiday season:

http://shine.yahoo.com/the-thread/celebrity-trainer-tips-to-avoid-the-pounds.html

BOBBY STROM, celebrity trainer who has worked with Jessica Biel and Britney Spears and whipped Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively into shape for “Green Lantern”

"Give yourself one meal a week. Christmas dinner is only one meal, not a three day long event. For that one meal, say, 'I’m going to have some candied yams and pumpkin pie and potatoes.' That’s it. Doesn’t mean you eat like crap for the whole day. Before you eat something think, 'If it’s not worth it, don’t waste it.' If someone says, 'You have to try this cake it’s awesome!' Ok, maybe it’s worth the calories. But picking at a bowl of pretzels—that’s not worth the work you’ll have to do to take it off."

GUNNAR PETERSON, celebrity trainer who keeps Kim Kardashian and Sofia Vergara in good form, and helped Jennifer Lopez train for a triathlon after having twins

"Get a training partner for these six weeks who will help motivate you to get up and out of bed. And get it done early. Set your alarm for an hour earlier—or even 30 minutes. You’ll make better choices for the rest of the day. And at night, you’ll be less likely to stay out too late because you’ll have to get up early. Mindset is also incredibly important. You have to mentally set the table. You will not gain weight. You’ve got to know it to make better choices. Draw a line in the sand."

HARLEY PASTERNAK, host of ABC’s “The Revolution” who has trained Lady Gaga, Megan Fox, Katy Perry and Rihanna

"When you go to a holiday party, I want you to park your car three blocks away. And walk those three blocks each direction. If you end up at a buffet, don’t make one trip and pile everything on your plate. Go up and take one thing. I always start with vegetables. Then go back for meats. Satiety lags behind ingestion so if you eat slower, you’ll feel fuller and then by the time you go back, you’ll choose less. After the meal, go on what the Italians call a passeggiata-- a walk around the neighborhood."

MANDY INGBER, LA-based yoga instructor who leads Jennifer Aniston and Helen Hunt through their poses

"My indulgence trick is to eat treats that are only homemade. That eliminates a lot of the holiday sweets that are packaged. Also, speak to yourself in a positive way and reinforce what you are doing well. Don't focus on the cookie you ate last night. Focus on the fact that you did 30 minutes of cardio today. Write a list of what you are doing well like visiting relatives or leaving the party early so you could wake up and meditate."

BERNARDO COPPOLA, LA-based trainer and former pro rugby player who works with Matthew Morrison and the cast of “Glee”

"Enjoy yourself, but the next day get back on track with your nutrition. It’s all psychological. You’ve got to put boundaries in your head. You can’t do leftovers. You can’t say, 'It’s been four days and I’m still eating it' if you want to not add pounds. Add more cardio than usual to your workout so you burn more calories. When you’re weight lifting, after you do three sets of an exercise, before you move on to the next one, add 30 seconds to a minute of jumping jacks or mountain climbers."

ANDREA ORBECK, fitness and wellness guru who works with Heidi Klum and many Victoria’s Secret angels

"Learn to modify menus. Instead of cream cheese or sour cream, use plain yogurt and Stevia instead of sugar because it doesn’t create the same insulin response. When a recipe calls for butter, cut 1/3 of butter with applesauce instead. Stay away from canned options and instead of white flour use whole wheat sources so at least you’re getting fiber. Multi-task. While you’re standing at the sink doing dishes, use the counter to do a set of squats. Do 50 crunches every morning before you start your crazy day."

DAVID KIRSCH, NYC-based wellness guru who works Anne Hathaway and Liv Tyler out

"During this time people often start to starve themselves, which is actually the worst thing you can do. Make sure to eat five small meals a day. One can be a protein shake. Leave a few hard-boiled eggs on your kitchen counter to snack on. You want to keep the engine going. You don’t want your metabolism to slow down so you store calories. Also, you’re not going to be as smart about your choices when you’re ravenously hungry. Staying optimally fueled through out the day is key. If you overindulge, make sure you hydrate the next day and hit the gym regardless of how you feel."

NICHELLE HINES, the CRO “chief ride officer” at LA spinning gym Cycle House where Alexa Chung, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron like to break a sweat

"I tell clients, put post-its on your bathroom mirror or on your front door or on the mirror on the visor in the car, that say, 'If you’re not hungry don’t eat' and 'respect your temple.' It’s a constant reminder to breathe and make a conscious decision about what you put in your mouth. So many of these things happen without even thinking. Also, so often you think you’re hungry but you’re not—you’re just thirsty. It’s incredibly important to hydrate."

SUE MOLNAR, Soul Cycle Master Instructor where Kelly Ripa, Jessica Alba, and Chelsea Clinton ride

"Think preventatively. Instead of chowing down and then trying to go to the gym to work it off, go to the gym before you eat so you’ve already raised your metabolism. If you exercise for an hour it’s not just about that hour, you’re still burning more calories throughout the day. If you can get to the point where you're doing a really vigorous hour of exercise in the morning during the holidays, your reward is that you just get to eat what you want and not feel guilty."

FRED DEVITO, executive vice president of mind body fitness programs at Exhale, a favorite spot of Cameron Diaz and Brooke Burke

"Never arrive to the holiday meal famished. Nobody can make good choices when they are starved. Have a small protein-rich snack before you go, such as an apple with nut butter or hummus and crudité. During the meal, pick one or two of your favorite splurge items and enjoy them in moderation. Fill up the rest of your plate with lean protein and veggies. Skip liquid calories. Liquids don't fill us up the way solid foods do so the calories add up, but don't offer satiety. Stick to water, herbal tea or make a holiday spritzer, adding a splash of cranberry juice to seltzer."

HILARIA THOMAS, instructor at NYC studio Yoga Vida (and girlfriend of Alec Baldwin)

"Every single day do a little bit of yoga. Sun salutations, boat pose, forward bend, back bend, twists to each side to stretch out your belly, then finish in shavasana. You’ll be more in touch with your body and your senses so that when you put something in your mouth you'll have less of a chance of over-eating because you’re listening to your body and respecting your body. Your body does not want to be stuffed. It’s traumatizing. The connection will help you avoid 'mindless eating' while you’re sitting with people who emotionally stress you out."

LillyBoPeep -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/5/2011 6:31:32 AM)

Those are great tips, angel. :)
Doing a sun salutation in the morning helps me wake up.

Digging out winter clothes, I found my favorite sweater from high school and it fits again. :)

barelynangel -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/5/2011 6:42:19 AM)

Oh isn't that an awesome feeling!!! Kudos girlie!

You know, i do need to start doing stuff in the morning, i don't leave for work now until like 8:30 but i usually am working before hand responding to emails and such. grins, my boss says my fault is -- i need to learn to work an 8 hour work day lol. So maybe i will start incorporating the gym in the morning -- yeah sounds good doesn't it lol

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/5/2011 7:16:11 AM)

I finished my 5k on Sat and the pic of me crossing the Finish Line is very unflattering so it won't be shared!  The pic was taken just as I gave a great big sigh of relief and I wasn't smiling[>:]

The elf costume wasn't worn because I couldn't find anyone to run w/me and since I decided to walk to the race and the padded socks that I bought weren't as padded as I'd hoped that they'd be I decided to just wear my regular clothes.

Next year I'll get started earlier finding folks to run with and if that happens I'll run in costume by modifying the elf shoes to fit over the running shoes.

I carried a full 26in tv set (not a flat screen) by myself down 3 flights of steps yesterday & out to my car and today my biceps are feeling the strain!!!

Tonight I'll be in the Step & Sculpt class doing a mile on the treadmill beforehand.

Yeah it is -- I missed this sweater. ^_^ It's a marshmallowy light blue, kinda stretchy sweater from the GAP (back when you couldn't be cool if you didn't have at least one thing from there :p) that's cut to be a bit form-fitting. Lightweight, but suuuuuper warm. It had gotten really unflattering and uncomfortable, so I quit wearing it. Now it fits better than it did when I first got it. ^_^

Good idea -- it gets your energy up so you feel better throughout the day, rather than feeling like you're playing catch-up.
Maybe before you get to the emails, you could start with a few exercises, stretches, lunges, something, I dunno, just to help you get into a habit. ^_^

VP -- sorry your elf costume plans didn't work out, but it sounds like you've got a good plan for next year. Good for you for completing the race. ^_^

My muscles are still feeling the burn from shoveling heavy, wet, super-dense snow at 6 different business. Some of those sidewalks are ridiculous. Then, we even had to dig out one of the plow trucks.
I am going to do cardio today, though -- don't want to let the achiness make me stop moving.

The angry marching band knee was super unhappy last night, but I haphazardly balanced a hot bowl of soup on it and found that that made it feel so much better. I also took an extra dose of my joint supplement which also seemed to make a difference. I think, though, that I need to just break down and have it looked at.

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/6/2011 5:44:41 AM)

Last night's class was a great workout!
Tonight it's laundry time so I'll be working out at home[>:]

VirginPotty -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (12/7/2011 8:05:14 AM)

Tonight I'm starting 3 classes again.....3-2-1, step aerobics & core conditioning.
I used to do all 3 back to back Jan-March then could only take the 1st class.

I had to stop because my then girl wasn't working Jan-March so when she moved in w/me she was home to take care of the animals.  Once she started working in March I went home to take care of the animals.  Now that they're all gone & I'm left w/my 2 adult cats I can start taking the extra classes once again!

I remembered to pack extra food today to keep this old body fueled.
I just finished my steel cut oats, 10 grapes & 1 boiled egg.
