ORIGINAL: HeatherMcLeather In person I am very quiet and contemplative, I listen far more than I speak. And just as you say, there are people who take this as some sort of evidence of my being a little slow. They are very wrong. You know, I think this has something to do with being introverted, because it happens to me too. I get underestimated all the time by people who don't know me that well. But new acquaintances invariably decide I'm really smart (probably because I'm male). Anyway, quiet, completative people are significantly rarer and they don't need more than a handful of close relationships each, which means most people haven't experienced us enough to know better. More experienced and more intuitive people generally tend to know what's up. quote:
ORIGINAL: sunshinemiss I have found that when I am kind and loving, people think I'm weak. I also get randomly hugged a lot. But I do like hugging people, even if I feign disinterest in an effort to seem more blasé (which, unsurprisingly, makes them want to hug me more). On the other hand, this is actually a good thing, because I'd rather be remembered as kind, thoughtful, quiet, contemplative, etc. And I also much prefer to be subtle rather than overt when trying to influence a situation, so it works out well. Not everyone needs to immediately be made aware that I get off on being cruel.
