Yes but they claim it is because they are truth and Fox is biased.

Who claims to be 'fair and balanced'?

BamaD -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 1:53:00 PM)

Who regularly brings on people with views in opposition to their "view" that would be fox.  And if you thought they give conservatives a pass you didn't see Wallace rip both Palin and Gingrich.

BamaD -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 1:55:57 PM)

Go back to my first post nothing Fox msnbc or any of the others have done compare with CNN knowingly helping the Iraqi propaganda machine.  Until that happened I was a devoted follower of CNN and HN

Hillwilliam -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 1:59:38 PM)

I'm not a devoted follower of any one media source. I watch different ones. sometimes it's actually a lot of fun to see how the difference in 'spin' affects the same story as seen on Fox and then watch MSNBC or vice versa.

Neither of them are unbiased.

Seriously, if someone comes up to you and the first words out of their mouth are "I swear to god I'm tellin the truth about this" Your first thought is gonne be "this in front of me is a lying SOB".

So when a media source says "Fair and balanced"............................................

"Wingnut Debt Ceiling Demands" was actually placed directly above a picture of Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, and Florida senator Marco Rubio:

You're right, they posted that headline and a picture of three wingnuts.

After a decade or so of fair and balanced phrasing like referring to anyone off far right of center as communists and socialists, they probably just snapped. The probable difference will be that the CNN contributor will be either dismissed or dealt with as a conduct issue. As opposed to if they worked at fox, where they would get an email from the news director for their "use of hard hitting journalism techniques, in a fair and balanced way".
   Thanks for posting a non-story.

They mean that they'll bring on an occasional dissenting voice to be shouted down by the consensus' mouthpieces.

Hillwilliam -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 2:08:22 PM)

As far as the CNN stories during Iraq I, I tend to give them the benefit of a doubt for some of them. The reporters were in Baghdad and the ONLY source of info they had was what Hussein gave them. Are they seriously supposed to have access to the US side when the military lines are a couple of hundred miles away and all the info they get is censored by the Iraqis?

They reported what was given to them. It was wrong. dont blame the reporter, blame the lying assed source.

Owner59 -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 2:08:57 PM)

If there`s any new bias it`s toward corporate interests and against consumers.

Which mirrors the GOP.

This paranoia tripe about a liberal news bias is b/c cons seem to look so awful in the news.

They can`t imagine that their public image is their own doing or why it is that their agenda looks so bad(to Americans),so to them, it must be a media conspiracy.

Asses.

You're just upset because your sainted but goofy heroes got called what in essence they are ... GOOFY.
At least they're being named for a lovable Disney character that'll still command loyalty from your brethren here on collarchat.

Sanity -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 2:11:09 PM)

You will find plenty of individuals who are in complete denial or are just plain ignorant of CNNs heavy bias, so yes -  its good to point such good examples as this in the name of raising awareness.

Good find Willbe,

Whats the last time there was a CNN bias thread anyway?

I find it incredible that people here (on CM and in the US) think there is such a thing as an unbiased news network on TV/online.

How naive can you get?

It's sad that in the US it is virtually impossible to find truthfully written, un-spun political news. Fox, MSNBC, CNN, are all biased. My advice is watch the network which makes you cringe/vomit the least, and the other for pure comedy and entertainment.

As for the headline issue in this thread, at least the journalist that wrote it was writing what he believed. No-one says you have to agree with him.

I just said they were biased not 5 posts ago. I don't think you're going to call Me a right winger by any stretch of the imagination but there are those on here who do.

Their actual news is straightforward, as it should be. The bias thats on FOX NEWS is commentary, and it is labeled as such - and they present both right, center and left views.

Ive seen Shep Smith let it slip how he leans somewhat to the left on at least one occasion...  Greta leans a little left to me...

Just tired of the folks on the R side whining that "everyone picks on Fox and nobody believes poor us when we tell em that CNN is biased"

As I said before. There is no such thing as an unbiased news source.

I would say though that they were far less biased before a guy named Rupert Murdock started messing around with the media of a foreign country aka the United States. But that's just me. Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, guys like that... they seemed to be interested in offering two sides to as many arguments as possible.
   I miss those guys.

Sanity -> RE: CNN tries to hide its bias, but too late (6/14/2011 2:24:32 PM)

Thats pure strawman fallacy Hill.

Do you find it so difficult to argue with what people actually write that you have to invent boogimen to argue against?

Although I admire Roger Ailes for his success, I don't trust him or his people aside from Cavuto. CNN, I like a few and dislike a few, but I like their political analysts. msnbc, I rarely watch at all.
I think that to some degree in the political arena, some bias shows, but I also think they try hard not to reflect it. In and of itself, the training to be a journalist, is that of an unbiased nature. I think the longer they are on TV, the more likely bias will show because of how familiar they become to us, and we want to hear them agree with us.
I think in some cses we hear what we want to hear as well, it's not always what is said, but what is heard!
