when I was there, pounds was used as a monetary demonination.

I know STONE was used as a weight, but I dont recall ever seeing stone as the tag on food.

we use a mix of both.

We weigh ourselves in stones and pounds.

Our food and drink is in metric units.

Distance is still in miles, not kilometres.

We're an eccentric race :)

Oh, and a pound is exactly as Greedy said - about 0.454kg. A kilo is about 2.25grams, as a rough guide.

Really? I thought they used the metric system in Britain, cause all the road signs I saw and my speedometer was in Kilometers. And I bought meat by the kilo and my milk by the milliliter.(I swear the store only sold those smaller cartons)

They use both, you buy milk by the pint (I think, I'm mildly lactose intolerant so I don't buy milk) and beverages are usually also sold by the pint in pubs, when in the supermarket the water, wine and coke is in liters, distances are measured in miles and and I don't recall seeing any road signs in kilometers, also my cars speedometer is in miles with kilometers as well, warning signs in yards. It can be a bit confusing...

For example most supermarkets have 2 prices for loose fruit you pick out yourself, one for lbs and one for kilos as a lot of older people are used to pounds.

I have produced this list as a Public Service to help those on here who sre sincere, enjoy:

Easy Tells:

The girl violates the laws of physics. This describes about thirty percent of profiles. That she’s 5’4” and 60 lbs should be a warning.

The race and photo do not match. The number of blond, blue eyed, fair skinned native and African-Americans is fascinating.

There is an email address in the profile. No one serious would broadcast such information.

The phrase "retire from the lifestyle" is in the profile. Being in this life style is not like being a bus driver where you leave after twenty years.

More challenging Tells:

Conflicting interests. If you see a girl who ‘lives for’ intellectual discourse and astrology, that is a warning. If you see spanking as a hard limit, she probably is not too serious about the lifestyle. A lot can be learned from the interests list.

There are significant grammatical or spelling errors in her profile. Remember, she is supposed to be a woman, and women are usually careful. This is a good sign you are dealing with a man.

She expresses an interest in cock photographs. If she does, you are talking to a gay man.

On her profile or within thirty seconds of communicating, you have received pornographic photographs. Truly tasteful erotic photographs do not automatically indicate a fake, but pornographic photos provided very quickly are a giveaway.

She looks like she could pass for a supermodel. While I know it is challenging for supermodels to find straight dominant men in the fashion industry, most have not turned to collarme so they can serve you without limit.

Potentially difficult tells:

She thinks it is cool you are over thirty and live with your mom. She does not.

She thinks it is cool you are over thirty and still go to Star Trek conventions. She does not.

Obviously this is very incomplete and I would hope there will be numerous additions.

She wants to be a slave, but she lists she is actively seeking switch males. Does this really make sense to you?

I hope this helps separate the wheat from the chaff. There are some wonderful girls on here, but there are swimming in an ocean of frauds.

This is almost as useful as TV guide!!!! Impressive I say!!!!...... damn what did I do with my remote!

Hmm... I think you were in a different Britain. None of our road signs are in KM, and the speedometers are in KM and MPH.

We do now sell food and gas using the metric system though ( Thanks to our membership of the European Union). When it comes to gas, I miss the Imperial Gallon - so much superior to your diminutive American Gallon ;-)

isn't the british ton different from the american ton? like 2400 vs. 2000 lbs?
and then there's the tonne, which is metric? =p (i think?)

You can disagree or even insult me all you wish as it really has no meaning here, but I certainly never meant to demean intellectual discourse as an interest because that would be absurd. It was conflicting interests that were the issue.

I have an interest in astrology, and I can quite certainly assure you, I would wipe the floor with you in any sort of "intellectual discourse"

*blink*  Bunnykins, I think you confused me with someone else.. remember? I have no head for maths...LOL

(I'm still confuzzled as to what stone translates to in pounds)

but, we are all obviously fakes, because we have multiple, "conflicting" interests, so  guess none of it matters  (I'd still like to know, though... )

I could be wrong, but I think Great Britain remained on (or returned to?) the scales that the US uses. the EU went to metric...

again, I could be wrong

Yeah I was too busy with other stuff(sexy British accents) to ask about their measuring system, however I think they were using the Euro(?) at that time instead of pounds British sterling, of course the Euro was rally the only currency I dealt with at that time cause I was too embarrassed to display my lack of ability to calculate the British Exchange rate for change and stuff.

Woah, you try paying with Euros anywhere, LOL, they are likely to stone you, of course unless you shop at Harrod's and you enjoy being ripped off

Darling,

We have our own scales thank-you-very-much ;-)

In the UK food retailers have to show metric weights and volumes, but we still use the fine Imperial pound when baking.

Could be I am mixing up the signs in my head from Europe with the British signs. I purposely avoided doing any kind of math there as I was too embarrassed with my shoddy American schooling and being unable to convert US to Metric without use of my fingers.

But I do distinctly remember getting milk or creamer in a carton that was stamped ML I remember cause I thought it was funny for some reason and it could have been an import.

I actually agree with Iamsemisweet.... people are generally not as brave in person as they are anonymously.... but again... there are those that don't hid behind that facade as you say.

HEY.... maybe we can develop a guide to uncover those assholes!!!! in the internet that don't hide behind that facade in public!!!!

Some of us like studying it from a historical point of view, and how entrenched it was in the world view of people in the Dark Ages and through the Renaissance and into the Reformation period. It was on par with alchemy in regards to the evolution of science... astronomy and chemistry coming out of both of these disciplines.
