Status: offline 		Years ago, my sister answered an ad for Aussie pups.  She went to the "breeders" home and saw backyard breeding first hand.  She didn't want to support the "breeders" efforts, yet couldn't leave the little 7 week old pup, curled up in mud under a trailer, behind.  So she took her.

The dog had serious issues over the years, that dog behavioralists could not resolve.  After numerous calls to Aussie rescue groups, she couldn't find one to take her (Sparky had bit her husband several times, when he tried to pick up their son) - the groups were full and felt since the dog was already in a home, it wasn't a "dire need."  She ended up putting Sparky down.  Very sad.

She lived out in the country at the time she got Sparky, so reporting backyard breeding was met with "Yeah? And what's the problem?"  Sad.

Status: offline 		They tried to sell me a pup, they thought since I got a Dobie (at the time I only had Kia) I would be interested in another "prestige dog", I took the card and chatted to the son, because something seemed fishy and he mentioned that they kept a boy for breeding but from the new litter they'd keep a girl because they could double the puppy output. I was shocked but tried to keep a straight face, he was walking the mother and she just looked malnourished and as if she had joint problems. Made me wonder who actually would buy pups from such a dame. I love Weimaraners, lovely dogs, talked to the RSPCA and they said they couldn't do anything about the breeding her with the son, hard to have evidence, so I talked to a police woman I know, who said to report them for tax avoidance and have them on the look out for neglected dogs as well, apparently better if an "authority" contacts the RSPCA.

To be honest, I couldn't care less if a person makes a bit of money on the side and doesn't tax it, but if it's the only way to get one of those bastards, you go with what gets results.
