So your "Happy Moving" statement was a passive aggressive way of saying 'Fuck you?" At least Hannah says it, directly - without the false pleasantries. By the way, I don't think it is Karma when a young couple loses their home because an old man loses his wife then his home because of old age. Well sometimes, yes, but not always, at least, not for me. While I certainly haven't enjoyed every move I've made, I've enjoyed a good many of them ... the excitement of moving to a new town/city, to start a new job ... I really enjoy that. It also helps if you've got the money (or your new job pays for) to employ people to take the shitty stuff off you; the packing, the humping of boxes and furniture, etc. Otherwise yes, that can be a real pain. One of the nicest I had was when, with 2 days to go, lacking at that time the cash to pay someone to just do the lot, and with my back playing up something fierce, I had a bunch of mates and a couple of exes turn up out of the blue to box up and lift everything for me, into the rented truck (I've got a "small" goods vehicle license, though not one for big rigs) and then I drove it to my new place about 150 miles away, a bit concerned as to how I was going to get everything out on my own ... ... to find another bunch of mates, and some of the first lot, had come over to help me move in. I bought lots of beers and we had an impromptu house warming party too. Nice :)

I've done it a lot of times so I'm a bit of an expert...there are ways to make it pleasant [:D] Like RF I love the anticipation of exploring a new home, new neighbourhood or even new city. It's also a great opportunity to declutter, or find all that stuff you thought you'd never see again. As for Hannah and Heather - you ladies will be fine wherever you go. A happy home is defined by the people in it, not the walls surrounding it. Good karma breeds good karma, and it seems like you have it in spades [:D]

I loved moving when I was younger. When I was married he was in the military and we moved around almost every year. I found it thrilling and exciting. I loved discovering new places and exploring. Now that I"m older though it's not as much fun. It's just a lot of work.

Granted, it's a lot of work. I thought when I bought this house it would be my "decade" house, but I've been here 3.5 years and I'm getting itchy feet, lol

When I bought My first house and moved out of what was a glorified shack that I was renting, that was a happy move. When I got the hell out of miami, that was a happy move. Some of the others, not so much esp when I loaded up the truck with what I could salvage and headed north from that first house after hurricane Andrew wearing chest waders and carrying a rifle. NOT a happy move.

She's taking the prospect of the actual moving so well because Hanners and I have ridiculously little to pack. Honestly it will take me a day, maybe two if I take my time, to get it all boxed up. Suze and Cheri, however, are a different matter. We're talking a 14' truck for Cheri's clothes alone. [:D]

Update, OK. We've decided we are taking the big house, we're just working out some of the details. mostly Cheri's parents, they are not entirely in favour of the arrangement, and she doesn't want to cross them, as she depends on them to finance her university. Because of their incomes, she's ineligible for OSAP (student loan), and she has to have been on her own for a while before they won't take her parents' income into account. My finances are also a problem, the others have all said that it doesn't matter, that they will split things three ways, but I'd rather pay my share somehow. Since I'm going to be taking my equivalency courses, it appears I'm eligible for some social assistance, but that is a bit of a sticking point with Hanners. I'm looking into some other options, at this point that means family, since steady employment is, unfortunately, not really a likely possibility (no experience, no high school). The landlord has agreed not to put the word out that the place is available till next week, to give us a chance to get things in order.
