Shit, don't  stop there, boy.

Let's take your 'thought' process to the logical conclusion.

Until you can convince everybody here that you had oral sex with a man last night and kissed him deeply this morning, the only conclusion one could possibly come to is that you are irreparably homophobic.

Its not everyday that I come across being stalked  and trolled by some terminally adolescent and commensurately inept spitball thrower, but this is just too funny.

Kudos for giving yourself a verbal smack down.......saves Arp the trouble.

Right.

Whatever that means.

If you say so, etc.

Who let Ed out of P & R? His veiled attacks are commonplace there but disapproved of in the rest of the site.
Play nice little boy, or go home.

If Arp, arguably the most mentally disturbed member on this site (such insanity being even far beyond that of the twit who calls himself  'sanity') fulfills your notion of either comprehension skills or any notion of decorum or simple good manners, then you are welcome to it.

Pardon me obtaining as much distance from you and your ilk as possible.

Edwynn -> RE: Gagging at the thought of a cock? (8/31/2011 4:16:31 PM)

Foot shaped?

Well damn, if you'd just said that in the first place ...

I think that Arpig has made it plain that he is quite happy with his own in that regard.

Doesn't anyone gag ON a cock anymore?

One needs to have some level of gag reflex remaining... some of us might not fit that requirement anymore ;)

What is Cheri arguing against, exactly, or is that asking too much?

I think you missed the part where she was wanting to start a discussion... about opinions, thoughts, ideas, hypothesis(es?)... not start a debate.  Perhaps that is were you went wrong and managed to start 5 pages of angry shit storm.  You posted a statement/accusation/question (whatever you chose to call it) and she responded in kind supporting her statement and view.   That doesnt change the fact that she was asking for a DISCUSSION not a DEBATE.

My 2 cents...

Interesting article in Discovery magazine a few years ago (2007 or 2008) about a gene that leads to hyper fertility in women, also leads to homosexuality in men (kind of like nature balancing the scale).   <snipped>

quote:

ORIGINAL: SuzeCheri

Huh, that is an interesting sounding article, I think I'll get the Google-fu master to try find it.

<snipped>

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/discoblog/2008/06/18/are-highly-fertile-women-more-likely-to-have-gay-sons/

You're most welcome.

And more detail:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn6519-survival-of-genetic-homosexual-traits-explained.html

These articles explain that gay sex (actually male-to-male attraction) is probably a balancing influence against highly fertile women (who are related on the mother's side.)  So, maybe, just maybe, the predisposition to avoiding male-on-male sex is genetic but in reverse.  That is, "Go GET 'em, men."  If you're on a branch of the family tree that isn't so fertile, and you are male, there is a higher likelyhood that you will be predisposed toward attraction toward females and probably, (at the same time) a homo-phobe attitude toward men.

(In my own case, I have two female first cousins that have between them 11 kids.  Furthermore, in my generation of ALL the descendants of my great-great grandmother, there are only 4 males out of 62.  She had 6 girls and one son.)

Thanks for finding those articles ;)   I hope I didn't do them a disservice by discussing them from memory.

So why do you think there is such a strong reaction? Why, in your opinion, would anybody find it repulsive?

i'm not the best person to ask. i find sex, in general, repulsive. But the answer would be a latent prejudice against homosexual men, or (as other posters have said) a simple lack of dissociation.

And why is this attitude so predominantly a hetero male attitude?

My guess would be cultural pressures. Somebody mentioned ancient Greece, where male homosexuality was accepted, even expected. i think the same is true of female homosexuality today. Girl on girl sex is cool, guy on guy sex isn't.

Would you feel you couldn't become as close a friend with a person with a different sexual orientation as you could with a person with the same orientation as you?

i don't feel that way.

Also the format of the statement bothers me, it's as if what doesn't turn you on has to be repulsive merely as a consequence of your sexual orientation. Do you see it this way, or is it a consequence of personal bias & prejudice?

That's hard to say, out of context.

Yes, I am sure that the statement of  "And why is this attitude so predominantly a hetero male attitude?" was intended solely as  a mere starting point for discussion, and not in any way seeking or trolling for validation of preconceived notions.

No one could disagree with you on the "not seeking debate" thing there.

But while we're here, one of my pages of "shit storm," as you so eloquently phrase it:

 http://www.collarchat.com/m_3826472/mpage_5/tm.htm

- Just to completely blow up what everybody keeps trying to drag me into and accuse me of, in my former mode of income I worked with or near or close to or alongside of more homosexual people than most could ever expect to encounter in several lifetimes (live shows, entertainment of any medium, TV, film, etc.)

On occasions of  going out for a drink after work or something to eat between shows, we all sat together, except for one or two sometimes, no separation of 'straight' or otherwise.

Lesbians are no different than anyone else in most regards. Some few did not like me (like some straight males or females did not like me) and some did, some liked me a lot. Especially those on the visiting crew.

One of the best times I had with a visiting crew member involved a young woman who was in town with the show for two weeks (can't even remember the show ... Phantom? 42nd St.? can't remember), and she for whatever reason took a shine to me, not 'attraction' wise, just as a local crew member. She was head of props and I was local department head for that show. We got on famously, she bought me drinks at the bar after the shows, etc. Unfortunately this involved her neglecting her asst. props GF in the process. By the time of load out, she (stage right props, the GF) was practically spitting in my face. Oh well.

She (the first one) brought her bike with her, loaded into the back of one of the semis, as many of them did, and she was glad to see that I rode my bike to work also. We rode to the hardware store twice a week, and on the way back, she always wanted to stop in front of Panthers Stadium (for the Carolina Panthers football team, now called Bank Of America Stadium), but we only actually stopped for that twice. She was from Pittsburgh, so a Steelers fan obviously, but she kept saying "what a nice stadium!", and wanted me to tell her about how the franchise was started, how the stadium got built without tax payer money, Kevin Greene (former Steeler and former Panther linebacker), etc.

When the visiting and the local department heads click, things get done for the show that might have been needing done or neglected for months. We built new off-stage stairs, a new upstage ramp, we repaired innumerable faux lamps, table legs, chairs, wagons, refurbished fake flowers, etc. 'Twas a thing of beauty, as they say. Funny, her 'normal gig' was lighting, and mine was sound, but there we both landed in the properties department ("props") for that show.

Much more I could relate, but since I'm already causing tears from boredom as it is ...   -

Eh?  I thought 'discussion' and 'debate' were pretty much synonymous terms, for all practical purposes.

That aside, I'm enjoying reading this, though I still can't think of anything I can be bothered to contribute.  Mostly I'm enjoying it because no matter how much bitchiness is thrown at Ed, it's like water off a duck's anus to him.

I'm very much afraid that the female bitchiness (as well as Arpig's) here is a little on the feeble side.  I was led to believe on an earlier thread that said bitchiness would be a lot more potent, and I'm sad to say that I'm rather disappointed in that respect.  More effort required there, I feel . . . .

Asking questions we know will never get answered, but isn't that how it always is?

Good post, any regards.

You either DO or DO NOT have the capacity to understand real world situations, and if the latter, then be gone with you.

Generalize much?

I fail to see how your story about working in an industry where you hold a generalized stereo type of peoples sexuality has to relates?   It does provide a nice story of how you might be a socially acceptable person who can carry on a discussion and act responsibly around another person, but it relates nothing to the discussion.  This person sexuality has nothing to do with your interaction and so nothing of consequence would have put you in a situation to where you might be exposed to anything related to the OP's desired discussion.

The equivalent of your story is a random strait guy went to a working lunch with a random guy of unknown sexuality and they had a nice lunch but sexuality didn't come up and the strait guy assumed the other was homosexual due to their chosen profession, but since the subject was never broached he doesn't actually know.   Also since it was never discussed how could this relate to a desired discussion about peoples interactions and dealings with homophobic response.....

Unless you are implying you were having the homophobic response... but I don't think you were.

Anyways in regards to this last statement of yours:

"You either DO or DO NOT have the capacity to understand real world situations, and if the latter, then be gone with you."

It seems you  DO NOT have a capacity to understand these situations as demonstrated by your story and its relevance... as well as your previous posts... blatant lies and miss quotes. Additionally this statement seems purely designed to get a response and thus feed you.   Unfortunately I have done so... I know I shouldn't feed trolls... but that's water under the bridge.   I'll try not to feed you in the future... there is very little entertainment value... and certainly no educational value or enlightenment to be had.

(Edited to fix quote blocks since like previous post they were screwy and left off a set)

P.s. I apologize to everyone else for having feed the troll and stirred the pot more, please forgive me.

True.

They can be considered synonymous....

I was using "debate"  to imply a "Formal comparison of positive and negative aspects of contradicting views" -- an argument basically
and using "discussion"  to imply an "Informal an examination of a topic by comment, especially exploring causes or solutions"  -- an exploration or sharing

However, the dictionary points out my error by stating that a discussion can be conducted in the form of an argument.  So I guess I choose my words poorly since one is a specific manner of method for conducting the first, while I was trying to use them as if they were separate methods.

Sorry if I come across defensive, it's not meant to be (though I feel a bit from another topic), but I did want to clarify my error.

I don't know how to break this to you, but the r/l story was concerning a female, not a male.

"I fail to see how your story about working in an industry where you hold a generalized stereo type of peoples sexuality has to relates? "

"This person sexuality has nothing to do with your interaction and so nothing of consequence would have put you in a situation to where you might be exposed to anything related to the OP's desired discussion."  The equivalent of your story is a random strait guy went to a working lunch with a random guy of unknown sexuality and they had a nice lunch but sexuality didn't come up and the strait guy assumed the other was homosexual due to their chosen profession, but since the subject was never broached he doesn't actually know.   Also since it was never discussed how could this relate to a desired discussion about peoples interactions and dealings with homophobic response..... "

(OK, everybody else here saw the 'young woman' thing at the beginning, but hard as it is, try to hold our laughs here, while she continues and has fun)

What were you saying, megan?

It doesn't matter if you got the genders right or not, the babbling provides incalculable fun in any case.

We're all interested, no lie, no ... seriously, we really are.

Strait up.

Honestly.

Thanks for replying Aswad, you raise some good points, while the "closet gay" theory holds a certain emotional appeal, it doesn't really hold up to critical scrutiny, the numbers involved would, on there own, discount it.

Do you have any ideas as to why lesbian sex is generally viewed with more tolerance than gay male sex?

I think that, due to cultural conditioning, it is easier for straight men to envision themselves as potential partners with women (despite the fact that they are obviously Lesbians) than it is for them to envision themselves in an M2M sexual encounter.

That is, IMO, the purpose of porn, besides evoking feelings of lust and sexual attraction; it also serves the same purpose that escapist fiction does. It provides a template into which one can project one's desires.

Of course, it is entirely possible that I am projecting my own notions.

In this case I see Eddie's story as the equivalent of the "See! Some of my best friends are gay/black/whatthehellever I'm not homophobic/racist/whatthehellever!" Clearly we are supposed to take it as proof that he understands homosexuals and is bestest friends with some of them.
