When I was 17 I was a hostess at a restaurant.  There were three steps down from the lobby to the dining room.  I was leading some elderly ladies to their table.  Just as I said "Watch your step, ladies" I tumbled down the stairs.

Restaurants are great places to hurt yourself. After I closed the Chile Tree, I was just idling, occasionally helping friends who cheffed in other restaurants. A buddy was getting into the weeds at a popular place in Midtown ATL, and called me up to help out. So I went in, put on my jacket, got some tomatoes (hand-cut salsa, no food processor here), grabbed the knife, and the very first slice I made was my thumb. Fucking brilliant. What an impression I must've made. Bandaged it, put a plastic bag over my hand, and went back to it. Embarrasing. Super-chef

Status: offline 		This was about 10 years ago or so...I was cutting open a whole salami for a party that we were having...two of my kids were helping me, and I was talking to them while I cut open the plastic that surrounded the salami. Anyway, I was having problems so I turned the knife to cut towards me. Next thing I know is that the plastic is cut and the knife is slightly embedded in my breast bone.

DUH

After the hospital run, the kids took great joy in explaining that I really needed to start listening to the not so useless advice that I was always giving them in regards to cooking.

Status: offline 		I pulled a boner just today.  Went to take a shower, slipped on shaving gel, no rubber mat on the floor of the tub.  DISASTROUS!!!   Ended up smashing the right side of my face on the ledge of the tub, twisting my arm underneath me, along with twisting a boob (yes, it's possible to do that, take my word for it).  Body get going into downward motion, slammed right knee hard on the tub floor.  Threw out my back too.  Called Telehealth Ontario, spoke to a RN who recommended a trip to the ER by ambulance because of the possible head injury.  I was slurring words and having problems speaking clearly.

An hour of X-rays, a 3 hour wait, nothing broken but I now sport a slight concussion and will hurt for awhile.  Like I was surprised at being told THAT!!  I still have the headache from hell.  Being even smarter, I decide I'm going to walk home because the hospital can't be that far from home.  Wrong!!!!  Came out the exit, it was spitting rain.  1/2 home, it was pouring rain.  By the time I got here, I looked and felt like a drowned rat.  I won't mention the idiot who didn't drive around the huge puddle and splashed me all to hell thus soaking me from head to toe.  Hell, couldn't get any wetter than I was, or so I thought.

No showers until the rubber footies that I had in there are replaced.  I am an accident waiting to happen, wherever I go or whatever I do.  Takes a bow.

Status: offline 		My entire body is one big massive ache.  The concussion is leaving me slightly confused.  I made things worse by walking home, at least 2-3 miles.  Took me over 75 minutes, in the pouring rain no less for about 1/2 of that time.  Every time I move I find a new ache.  This is going to take awhile to get over.  Not that I haven't done things like this before, I even knew how to position myself for the x-rays.  LOL  And of course I couldn't wait to get outside and have a cigarette.

Status: offline 		O I already know I'm going to be sick.  I give it two days top.  Hoping I can get to the urgent care clinic tomorrow and see if there doing the flu shots yet.  Not that it'll help.  I have bronchitis and asthma so that'll be kicking in.  I'm used to that too though.  And if I get bronchitis, guaaaronteed I'll be sick for about 2-3 wks and another 2 wks of coughing.  I don't even use a spoon anymore, I glug the cough syrup straight from the bottle.

Damn Tiggy!!!

I do know how it feels though, I had a super bad chest infection last fall, caughed straight through sept way into oct and all the way into the new year. I didn't get rid of that damn caugh till early Jan!

Status: offline 		Robitussin cough syrup...ask the pharmacist which one you need....cough for him so he can tell what kind of cough you have...it's a life saver.  Mind you, going through a huge bottle a week gets expensive, but they won't even give me the prescription stuff anymore, doesn't work.  At least I got a pneumonia shot last year and that's supposed to be good for life.

I went to the doc, was on prescription cough supresents... they didn't help!! It was awful!! Finally went away when I went on vacation so Imma thinkin it was the stress.

Status: offline 		Ever since I was exposed to the God-knows-what in the 40 year old carpet we used to have at work EVERYTHING I catch goes directly to my chest. AND I can't use cough meds because of my thyroid so it takes forever for coughs to go away.
