Speaking of bike wrecks... I was around the same age as I was when I smacked into the tree... It was getting cool out, long sleeves weather, and there was a wicked wind blowing in from the west, which never happened in Rochester NY. Or, rather, North Chili (pronounced Chai-lie). I mean, the wind was so strong it'd blow the fleas off a dog. Well, genius here gets the bright idea to get on his bike with a piece of plywood, and let the wind push me down the street, like a sail. Went OK at first, kinda hard to hold onto the plywood. Then a big gust came along, and lifted me almost off the bike. Whoa! Right into a ditch! Damn good thing I had long sleeves. I saw the weeds in the ditch up close and personal. Of course, genius here didn't give a thought about walking home with his bike and a piece of plywood into about 50 mph winds before he set out on his adventure... Took me a loooong time to get home...
