What?

You mean Hill and Ron turned into thespians?

It's genetic, yanno. [8D]

we have already determined that thespians is a slur. please call us actors. It would appear to be politically correct.

Is that why actress now wish to be known as "actors"?

Not that anyone will believe me and figuring all here will assume I'm terribly biased, I will nonetheless bear witness that Firm is indeed always as fair and even tempered as he appears in his posts.  Actually more so.  Here is where he "lets his hair down" most.

And no... he didn't make me say that.  [;)]

No they just want in on this weekend's fun.

I am content to be a lesbian in a triad. If that is the interpretation and intent of the word, you may call me a thespian under those conditions.

Then why have my kids called me "The Ogre" for 20 years?  (when it's not "that m-f'ing Ogre sunnabitch" when they think I'm out of earshot?[8D]  )

So you are not actually biased?
Are you saying you do not like the cad?
Damm....once they stop being biased in your favor.....it is a short step to......it's over dude[:o]

Yeah, but if yours are anything like Mine (and I suspect they are) you're probably the first one they call when in trouble.

Of course I'm biased, but I am able to be objective, as well.  And I not only like "the cad", but I love him!  [:D]

You're quite correct that he's the first they call when in need.  [;)]

To be honest, I think that if your kids don't consider you a bit of an ogre, you may not be doing such a great job in parenting.

That's not to say they can't or shouldn't love you, but I've never seen it turn out very well when parents try to be their children's best friend more than be their parent.  Friendship can take front seat once the kids are adults, in my opinion.

Firm may have held his children to higher standards than they would have liked while growing up, but they absolutely adore him.

slvemike4u -> RE: Hmmm..."An update on Posting Style in this category" (9/28/2011 5:03:11 PM)

Never doubted it Treasure...not in the least.
One of the first lessons I had to learn when I became a single parent of a ten year old,and a hard one for me...I was the fun parent...was that my son didn't need a best friend as much as he needed a parent....I adjusted and the result is that while I may not be his "best" friend...I'm the friend that he calls when he wants another opinion on something important....Nothing puts a smile on my face quicker than my son calling and saying"Dad,I want to run something past you...."
My grin is a mile wide.

LadyPact -> RE: Hmmm..."An update on Posting Style in this category" (9/28/2011 5:11:15 PM)

Treasure, your name, indeed suits you.

The rest of this is kind of a fast reply without being one.  It's not that I didn't listen to you.  I did.  When people that I respect speak, I listen.  Perhaps, I'll get the same courtesy.

Most of you who frequent here, really are good folks.  Pretty smart ones, too.  The opinions that you express open My eyes in ways that you don't even know.  However, it is hard to keep My eyes open when I'm being called a cunt, or ridiculed for My faith, or any of the other crap that I think chases people like Me away.  Even when so many of you have said you wished that people like Me would participate here more often.

You have a chance.  You can teach.  There are people like Me who can benefit so much from what you have to say.  This new policy is going to allow for that.

Thank you for giving Me this moment of your time.

Remember how well that worked out?

heartcream -> RE: Hmmm..."An update on Posting Style in this category" (9/28/2011 8:51:58 PM)

Well well well, more of the same. I like this part of the forums and the (mostly) boys calling each other names and so on is what makes this place nice and cosy. I barely read any of the individual posts because they bore me to tears. But some of you, oh how I love thee's (more than one).

Some of you are so clever, I dont understand you either but I swoon reading the words written by youse. Sometimes it seems pages go by before anything to do with the OP gets said. This one and that one is a liar, lefty, righty, wrongy, creepy, pattty on the backy. No matter, this is one of my favorite stops here on CM.

TheHeretic -> RE: Hmmm..."An update on Posting Style in this category" (9/28/2011 8:56:27 PM)

Replying to the topic, and the thread in general

The first and last thing to keep in mind is that we are in their house. Now, they invite us in, and have provided this cool little sub-basement where a lot of subjects I find interesting get thrown around, but if they want to clamp down, or even shut the place, they can do it. I'd hate to see it happen, because I like hanging out here, and like most of you.

The door at the top of the stairs has been opened, and we've been told in no uncertain terms to chill the fuck out. The correct answer is, "yes, Maam," and we chill the fuck out. I read the referenced update, noted a couple of things I might easily apply to my posting style, and figure I can do my part towards a kinder, gentler, nobly embiggened P&R Pit.

It will be what it will be,
and I'll have to wait and see,
If I still feel free to be me.
(I think Domiguy said that, but I could be wrong)

To a couple other things along the way;

I don't see personas, so often as I see people with various filters turned down. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to compare the mental images I've formed, to the actuality.

Some of us don't mind throwing elbows when we dance, if the music is loud and angry enough. [;)]

I do have a concern though. I fully expect this election cycle to be the nastiest and most polarizing we have ever seen. I don't see how that isn't going to be reflected in here.

"I fully expect this election cycle to be the nastiest and most polarizing we have ever seen."

Really,......why is that?

What has President Obama done(besides asking his supporters to share the con-nastiness we find)to support that contention?

Or is it more of a plan, rather than an expectation?
