That is very sad. There was a lady at the church my mom used to go to, I didn't know her, but she had both her legs amputated due to diabetic complications, and then gang green set in and she died not long after having her legs cut off.

I am finding it hard not to give up and just be. I am apathetic about myself, I do at least go out twice a week sometimes 3 a week to go see dogs at a local rescue, it's a tremendous joy. For all of us, the dogs and me. I walk them and play with them, and I even want to foster one so I can teach it asl, cause poor baby is deaf, he's a very sweet boy, but he is kinda a handful cause he needs different ways to communicate than a hearing dog. It gets me out of my head and out into a small part of the world.

TFB I just spent nearly an hour with two women that are morbidly obese. One the mother probably in her 60's and the other in her 40's. Both struggled to get in the door, I had to unlatch the second door for her walker. She is diabetic and due to the complications, can no longer walk. It was apparent that neither was in good health.

The reason for their visit........a laminated memorial book mark for their daughter/sister who passed away at age 48 due to health problems caused by her obesity.

Please do not give up.

People who corset long-term (tightlacing) actually lose back muscle, so I would not recommend it for what you are asking. Seriously talk to your doctor, she/he will tell you the same thing.

Quite.

Weight loss would indeed be the best choice. I understand that you already lost some weight, TFTB? If so, do make sure that you loose weight slowly.

But perhaps, possibly because of disease, it is difficult for you to loose weight? (I know that it is for me.)

Listen, like Lizi, I'm not trying to be mean, here.

Get on your feet EVERY DAY. Walk around the block. If at first, you only can make it to the end of your street, then go to the end of the street. Go before lunch and then again before or after dinner. No bullshit about it being cold, that is what they make coats and mittens for. When it snows, put on your boots and go. Think how beautiful and quiet it can be walking during a snow storm. If it is raining, take an umbrella.

It's easy to be apathetic about it. The times you feel the least like doing it are the times that you need to force yourself to do it that much more, because after you are done, you won't feel so apathetic. Pretty soon, the desire to go will overcome the apathy.

The whole time you are walking hold yourself up straight and think about your posture. Try to walk a little further every day. Get your partner and your family involved in helping you to keep up with it. If your partner can't be supportive in this and either walk with you or remind you to do it, what the hell good is he?

My neighbor keeps telling me to get a giant exercise balance ball and sit on that instead of a chair at the pc, do you think that would help?

It might, but I would not use it exclusively.

I like food to much and have gotten lazy. That's all. But also now I'm getting sort of immobile and do not get around very well any more, and that makes it hard. I get incredibly tired and weak feeling so fast, and the pain afterwards of being active, nothing soothes it, so you're just laying there feeling miserable. But that's my own making and I just have to get to it. The gym we joined has a pool, So I am going to start swimming there, it's indoors and I can swim all weathers, , and When I was loosing weight, it wasn't super fast but it was regularly, I think trying to look back on it, It took only a little under a month really to go down to 309. Maybe a little bit less. I was eating right and I was active every day to some degree, and then the gym 3 days a week, and I didn't have to kill myself at the gym either. 5-10 minutes on the treadmill walking, some leg curls, and marching in place. The new Physical trainer I spoke to does not recommend leg curls for someone with back problems because it puts your back at an un natural slump, and there's better exercises. But He did say there's plenty of other things you can do to exercise, and keep natural alignment.

Fortunately we don't get snow here, or get very cold, but I visited Spokane with a bf one year, and he was being a wet blanket and wouldn't go for a walk with me, so his younger brother went with me, and we did, we had a lot of fun. We made snow balls and threw them at each other, we wrote in the snow then erased the messages, we made hand print turkeys. I love to use my camera, so I struck off by myself to go take some pics in the snow, and had some of the most beautiful snow pictures. I do that around here sometimes, not lately though. Take the camera, some fresh batteries and walk around the block or to the corner to take pics.

I find coats to hot so I do carry a light one but I put off enough heat when I get a walking steam up that I take it on and off lol.

Daddy used to try to help me walk but he's in better shape than I am and he pushed to hard for me to walk farther than I was able,he expected me to go around our entire block in one go, even though I'm not able to walk much at all, and he just couldn't see that it was to much to soon, and he honestly did think he was helping, and he's at work all day and when he gets home it's pitch black and he don't wanna take me for a walk, I ask him on day where he's home and since he worked all week all he wants to do is be a sloth, so I don't ask him to go with me, My mom slows me down to much and ow and ooh and fusses the whole walk and will only go like 5 houses down because she has arthritis and a bad hip and can't walk much herself, and she refuses to speak to her dr about an mri and seeing if maybe there's more than pain shots they can do for her. and my dad says why don't you ask your mom to go walking, she needs the exercise.

So honestly I prefer to walk by myself. That way I can walk as slow as I want, or as fast as I want, and not leave someone behind, or listen to them gripe about being out on a walk and not wanting to be. Or If I am up to it I can go farther than I decided to, stop and take as many photo's as I want to with out someone's impatience. if I am on a photo shoot hunt.

The solitude is nice, you can walk and day dream and think about stuff, mutter to yourself if you wish and nobody will hear you or think a thing lol.

Trying to sit up tall a lot of this whole time is making my back scream at me lol, but I do it as long as I can stand then let myself slouch down a bit for some relief then up tall again I go. I'm not sure if I am doing it right or not but by the reactions of my back, I must be I hope lol.

Sitting on an exercise ball is a really good idea to help strengthen your core. If it makes typing uncomfortable, why not instead sit on one while watching tv?
You can do it, TB. You where on the right path already this year, and you can go back to it.

Tfb, may I hijack your thread just for a moment?

YAY FOR TENS UNITS!!

... a posture collar with a tall corset (waist to above the tits thing)

Sorry GT but this prompts three comments; firstly I think you're confusing lordosis with a medical condition - what you're talking about is the way you keep calling me "Lord" in your incessant private messaging, begging me to collar you. I really ought to point out that it's becoming somewhat tedious and I'd be quite happy if you just call me "Sir".

Secondly I need to help you because I fear you may not have enjoyed TENS as fully and meaningfully as it can be used. A charmingly subtle dildo, suitably built for purpose, inserted caringly in the warm pussy; an equally charming little butt plug, similarly built for purpose, inserted gently up the bum; a skilled and experienced operator on the TENS unit: the result is a mind which can be blown to heaven as the delightful surges build deep within you in an erogenous zone you never knew you had and which no bloke's dick can ever reach. It is difficult not to come without screaming. Perhaps we should fix a date. Just saying.

Lastly a posture collar with a tall corset; I have both and you, when you're not being a toad, could look so very cute.

Sorry to hijack Tfb, but you may have noticed this GT person posting occasionally; she's infirm of brain and needs encouragement. Your own problem is one with which I sympathise - there are many ppl here in CM who have the most wonderful personalities and quite distinct weight problems. Which does not amuse them because we blokes think with our dicks and drool over the slim sexy girls without thought for what sort of person is inside.

I'd imagine from your comments that neither you nor the medicos will ever overcome your problem fully or even partially; and I'd also imagine you have learnt to handle life's shitty bits. But I was sad to see your comment "I am finding it hard not to give up and just be. I am apathetic about myself". Giving up is bad news - and it suggests that you simply aspire to too high a goal at this stage.

I know I smoke too much and like you I'll probably die a bit earlier than I could if I improved myself. But although I'm really not interested in climbing the mountain of stopping, I do try every now and then to smoke one or two less and whilst it's not much I feel quite cute about it. Instead of being apathetic why not do like me for a while, don't try to wipe out the whole problem at once and then, because for us it's not realistic, give up. Feel cute about the little improvements and see if it's fun to keep them coming.

of course I'd look cute... I ALWAYS look cute (well, except when I first wake up, as you'll doubtless recall... Lord)

You see.

Every lady I've ever met thinks she looks awful first thing in the morning.

Every lady I've ever met looks hot first thing in the morning.

Every lady I've ever slept with is at her best on waking.

Make-up, nail varnish, hairdos, shoes - all can look good in a posh restaurant and make a man proud. The real girl, first thing in the morning, natural and unpolished, is pure concentrated girl and is what you are. And I love it and I just melt.

Have you stopped doing this? Sounds like it was a great plan!

Does your gym have yoga? Yoga helps with both posture and weight loss, not because you are burning lots of calories, but because of the psychological and physiological benefits: http://www.yogajournal.com/practice/963

I recommend you stick with gentle or restorative or beginner yoga until you get into better shape, for example, can keep up with your daddy when you walk.

The AM Yoga part of this DVD is great for the back and it's only 20 minutes so there's no excuse not to do it every day: http://www.amazon.com/M-P-M-Yoga-Rodney-Yee/dp/B00007JME6

I've got some pilates dvd's but they seem kinda boring and don't seem to do much. Hmmm...I realllllly need to get on the ball, much like TFB feels like she does. Maybe I'll get one of those balls too. Idk...

I have a ball but my old desk was too high. My current desk is lower, so I will retrieve it from Mom's barn and inflate it. People at work who use them go back and forth between chair and ball.

$8.90 - $27.75

I keep looking to small goals, nothing huge, the weight will not fly off. I'd like to start with being on my feet longer than a few minutes with out being wiped out. Standing up strait even though my back is not to happy w/ith that, Cooking healthy in the crock pot once a week, and eating breakfast again cause I am not normally hungry in the morning and I have to eat with my metformin.
