That might work, specially for the tv programs that are only 30 minutes.

Sitting on an exercise ball is a really good idea to help strengthen your core. If it makes typing uncomfortable, why not instead sit on one while watching tv?
You can do it, TB. You where on the right path already this year, and you can go back to it.

Yes, I have. They might, they have a lot of classes from what I hear, and they are able to personal train in the water if you're not able to do regular training in gym training!

I'll check out the DVD

I was eating right and I was active every day to some degree, and then the gym 3 days a week, and I didn't have to kill myself at the gym either. 5-10 minutes on the treadmill walking, some leg curls, and marching in place.

Have you stopped doing this? Sounds like it was a great plan!

Does your gym have yoga? Yoga helps with both posture and weight loss, not because you are burning lots of calories, but because of the psychological and physiological benefits: http://www.yogajournal.com/practice/963

I recommend you stick with gentle or restorative or beginner yoga until you get into better shape, for example, can keep up with your daddy when you walk.

The AM Yoga part of this DVD is great for the back and it's only 20 minutes so there's no excuse not to do it every day: http://www.amazon.com/M-P-M-Yoga-Rodney-Yee/dp/B00007JME6

i have one of his A.M. yoga DVDs -- is there only one, or does he have a variety of them? it's a great video, and takes very little time ^_^

I'm only familiar with the one I linked above, which also has Patricia Walden doing a slightly more challenging PM flow. I'm a yoga teacher, so want to be responsible in my recommendations, and can safely recommend the AM Stretch for anyone.

This one below has five 20-minute morning practices so might be better for people who need more variety. Forward bends can be bad for the back, so I won't recommend it for people w back issues without having seen how he instructs this:

^^ That's the one I have; I think it's pretty good, but I'm not an instructor and don't have back issues.

Yay walking! We didn't continually walk all day, but we were out and about all day, and I did a lot of movement today.

ok.. due to herditary osteo issues, I not only have scoliosis, but also lordosis (swayback).

while a corset wont help the scoliosis, it sure as fuck helps the lordosis for more than a minute!! if it wasnt for the back brace that REsident Sadist gave me, my back would be in WAY worse shape than otherwise..

a corset would work better, because the brace doesnt support in all the areas my back needs it, for the lordosis.

NOW.. that being said.. I am FIRM BELIEVER in chiropractic/osteopathic treatments, as well as acupuncture. make use of the treatments available.

YAY FOR TENS UNITS!!

YAY FOR NONSURGICAL TREATMENTS!!

Yeah, a TENS works pretty well (I need new stickies). Better than everything except valium and soma, actually. Flexiril is good for sleep. Baclofen works at 30+mg. Zanaflex is good for sleep. Opies are good for joint pain but not all that helpful for muscle spasm. Lying down w/ leg elevation works pretty good. Often just sitting down helps. Swimming is a good way to do PT. Yoga is really good. I have some in the fridge. It was on sale, so I bought a bunch.

Tfb,
A lot of poor posture is simply bad habits. That is something you can remind yourself about. Shoulders back when you walk. Small little steps....ask the physical therapist for other reminders.
Your eating habits are likewise bad habits which you can unlearn. Make healthy choices: lots of fiber, vegetables and lean protein in moderation. Stay away from greasy fried food and things like white bread, white rice and white potatoes....also things that contain white flour and sugar or a lot of any type of fat.

Your lack of energy is simply the result of bad habits.
You can change those.
Don't give up!

We don't eat fried foods. We used to eat kfc like close to once a year or what ever but the last time it made me sick. That was enough for me. when we eat bread it's largely wheat and rare. I next to never eat potato's, but other than white, what are other potato options?

Diet wise, you might want to try a diabetic type diet, not for the eating 5X a day, but for the exchanges and for portion control. The new books list all manner of foods, ethnic ones too, so you can see what all the things are 'worth' in terms of nutritional values. Also, PORTION CONTROL.

I have many obese friends, and I couldnt figure out why they were so much bigger than me when we ate out all the time together...so I started watching. And dang, they DO eat more than me! There is always something left of my plate, ALWAYS. I trim the fat off of meat, dont eat fried food (except fries I eat them every week!), all sorts of small stuff like that. I'm still overweight, but my weight is very stable, and I stop when my stomach tells me. I also READ LABELS. I am a total sugarholic, and did I mention I LOVE SUGAR?? Cake, omg. I got a box of those maple sammich cookies from Trader Joe's and did you know those things are 110 calories EACH! Dang!! So, I have two, and stop, and that's IT FOR THE DAY OF SUGARY SNACKS, other sugar is from fruit. Some days my pop is my sugar.

It's a hard, hard job, and it's worse when you are surrounded by folks that wear you down. Do something EVERY DAY.

It so is. I am just glad I have a degree of separation from my moms house, cause she loves eating junk food and baking sweets, and cakes, and cookies, and candies, she has something junky every day even though she shouldn't. And it tempts me something sorely sometimes to walk by all that crap all the time, and I am usually good about ignoring it lol./. and if I try to educate her on stuff, like she thinks just cause it says no sugar added there's no sugar at all and there is, i's just natural, or she'll have some other fallacy about food, like low fat means no fat same with low calorie, she assumes because it's low fat or low calorie that means 0 Or I was comparing breads for carb counts and which one is better, or carb smart wheat tortilla's are better than white ones, so i tell her, but not in a preachy way, she comes back with, well I am not the one that is diabetic, you are. So I don't have to know or follow any of this stuff. She'll make the most un healthiest dinners and she cooks for all four of us, and she loved making things like rice a roni, white rice and drowning it in butter till it's greasy, and if I remind her one of us is diabetic, and shouldn't can't have this stuff she's like opps oh well. One time she flat out asked me why can't you have rice a roni, so I got the box out of the trash and read out the nutrition info and after each item, like carbs, stated what was wrong. Thing is she was in charge of my grandma who was diabetic and over weight, once she got my grandma home from her sisters house, grandma lost all the weight and was taken off insulin, so she know this kind of stuff, she just doesn't want to pay attention to it. So I either either don't eat her dinner or I eat it but in smaller portions. Please note I am not saying well you're responcible to cook for me or nothing, I am just saying her idea of dinner is usually something thats not nutritious, or very nutritious .

I don't mind for me so much, but I do mind for her, her idea of dinner for herself and my dad sometimes is hotdogs and a empinada's from a tv dinner box. She's over weight and she has a lot of health problems that could be fixed by showing a little care to her health, she's on high blood pressure meds, Cholesterol meds, has arthritis won't walk or do any exercise, because she claims her hips keeps her from doing it, and I've suggested water therapy and all kinds of things she could do and she just doesn't want to.

Or when ever we go out for the day she used to always want to go out and eat and I'd remind her I am trying to loose weight and watch what I eat , and she'd be like well one little old lunch out isn't going to hurt.

She's really unsupportive sometimes and once told me I don't see how you can be happy with yourself that fat, I, * emphasis on I* wouldn't be happy looking the way you do. Snide little comments slipped in there that are supposed to be "harmless"

WE're a lot alike in some ways, but I am trying to at least get to where I change some things for the best.

I wish to compliment all of Y/you who have taken the time to offer help to this O.P..

Y/you have attempted to take this person under Y/your wing despite her contradictive behaviors, immaturity and disrespect demeanor, not only to Y/you but herself.

It is my belief Y/you are all to be commended. Furthermore, Y/you all have my deepest respect. Y/you have all shown a patience level greater that that of Job.

Initially I read a few of her posts because of her nick name/title.

I was curious to learn more about the person who was audacious enough to assume such a despicable title. Perhaps it was meant “in” humor or even to be sarcastic, in either case, i still find it to be in bad taste.

I am open to the fact I may be missing some information. Furthermore it is quit conceivable I may need to read more of her posts to get a better understanding of her.

Whatever the case “topping from the bottom” is not considered cutesy, nor is it merely frowned upon. In my circles, it is a bad thing. Likening to a disobedient soldier.

I admit that in a very short time, I have developed a bias against this O.P.'s personality. The reason being, I have met many personalities like hers in my working environments.

We have a very polite name for that personality type. We call them “Difficult”.

In my industry, “Difficult” people are the ones who consume and waste our time by asking dozens of questions which often lead into debates.

In the end they are rarely persuaded them to change their initial opinion.

More often than not the conversation digresses to unrelated banter.

I have come to the belief these “Difficult” people seem to thrive on being difficult.

Furthermore, I suspect they are truly unaware that they are being difficult.

I have even wondered if such people have a medical condition such as Aspergers.

In an attempt to lean more about this person’s personality, I have read a few of her other posts. I am genuinely confused by this person. Either she really is that ignorant, or she is simply lonely and seeking conversation.

With regard to the corset debate, many people have told her “no” and given her ample reasons as to why she should not.

Some how she doesn’t seem to want to take the advice that is being offered to her. Take notice of how she rewords her question. Notice how she sites differing supportive evidence and continues to push her corset wearing agenda anticipating a supporting answer.

From a psychiatric point of view, to continue asking the same question in hopes of a different answer is indicative of a being insane.

To the O.P., I offer this advice from a person with gender dysphorea who wore a corset for 10 years of my life.

+’s
  • A corset can and may help you and your posture.
  • A corset can help you get an hour glass figure.

-‘s
  • At your weight you will need to buy a custom made corset that is likely in excess of $700. At that price, you are better off getting a medical corset that is covered by insurance.
  • Long term us of corset WILL atrophy your stomach and back muscles it WILL NOT help them.
  • Corsets can and will make slipped/herniated and degenerated discs worse. I have personally experienced this.
  • “Off the Rack” Corsets can do a great deal of damage if used improperly.
  • Corsets can cause acid reflux in some people with a high processed food diet and in people who eat foods with grains and glutens.

So, as many have told you, loose your weight.

Granted it is not easy. Nothing worth having is easy. I understand you want the weight gone. There is NO magic pill (with out serious side effects). (Been there too.)

Recognize, accept and embrace, you did not gain the weight over night.
Recognize, accept and embrace it not disappear over night.
Recognize, accept and embrace that your weight is causing your health issues, and in all likeliness will cause  more.

You and many others have to work hard at life. Every single person I know has a challenge or a hurdle they have to overcome. Weight, shyness, communication, learning ability, and literacy, simply to name a few.

You are not the exception, in fact you are close to being the norm.

Lastly, I want you to recognize, YOU have been given PROFESSIONAL QUALITY, advice from many of the people who have replied to your post. Every excuse you make insults us.

If you were my client I would be charging you $60per hour. (My part of your bill is currently $150 plus tax. I expect payment in full with n 30 days)

If you choose not to accept this advice you are simply saying to everyone on here and in your life, you don’t give shit about yourself, and you’d rather die.

If you’d rather die, then do it.

The last time I checked, everybody wipes their own ass. Everyone has to deal with shitty decisions.

There are no shortcuts in life.

Stop, the excuses, the whining, and the complaining. And just fricken do it.

Daddy used to drive me nuts, cause he'd come to bed and eat food right next to me and if I wasn't hungry before then, or thinking about food I sure was then! He stopped doing that so much thankfully lol, and I learned to kind of tune it out, or I could have some if it was for example potato chips but only have 4 or 5. a nice flavored water , and I don't mean those super sugary ones, or those soda water type things, I like crystal light, though I do know some people frown on it, or a healthy snack is a good warding off for the my sweetie is munching I wanna munch too.

One of the tastiest to me things but also so gross things my x liked was microwave mini taco's and he drowned them in cheese, the plate was so greesy and nasty looking after that, and I always found that when he wanted a plate of this monstrosity, that I also did too lol.

The fact you don't like my nick name has nothing to do with the point of this thread. Neither does your personal feelings on topping from bottom. My nick name is indeed meant as a joke, I was actually making fun of the idea some doms try to push that if you're a sub and you are vocal, now notice not pushy, but vocal about your needs from a relationship or a play scene, you're "topping from the bottom" The profile used to also be a spoof, It talked about the name being a joke and how I will top from the bottom and you'll like it dammit, cause I was being funny, and people were actually coming onto me, saying I was their idea of a hot gf, and then I decided to put a real profile in here, cause I wanted to maybe make friends to meet in real life, and can't let people know you when you're entire profile is a spoof.

Or you could have possibly acknowledged the fact that given the number of responses on this thread from people that seem to understand TFTB's problems, that we do in fact know her and have for a long time on here and that is why none of us feel the need to be unnecessarily cruel.

Sure, a lot of us could probably charge a hell of a lot for the suggestions we give but many people like the thought that not everything has a monetary cost and that we gain something by giving our time freely to others... google compassion.

TFTB - please be careful of using an exercise ball too much. If you do get one, ensure that you get clear instructions (with pictures if possible) of the correct way to sit on one.  Many people buy these balls and start using them for hours a day however they sit incorrectly, with their spine twisted etc to compensate for the pain or discomfort, and this actually agravates any injuries.

To  summarise a few things so far -
a corset - terrible for your back muscles, it will increase pain and symptoms when you are not wearing the corset but when it is on you will feel and look ok.

yoga - great - start with just a couple of the very basic stretches, the key is to hooooooooooooold the stretch not to bounce or jiggle your body.

pilates - again an excellent choice - mat pilates just needs you and a yoga mat.  Ask your PT to give you exercises to build your core muscles first, especially the ones in your groin and the ones that go on either side of your rib cage and spine.  It is really hard at first to  feel these muscles but eventually you will be able to identify them and isolate them quite easily.

With your walks, it sounds like you are worried about your mum.  Even though it sounds like it is a bit annoying how about you encourage her to go for three short 5 minute walks with you a day, that way  she gets her much needed exercise, you get your much needed exercise and you get to  do something wonderful for your mum's health as well as your own.

Take a camera with you so while she is talking about all of the gardens or something you can tune out and focus on framing future photos in your viewfinder.

And yep the pool sounds great, I love water, it is so relaxing and makes me feel happy.

TFTB, we have seen you make some changes over the years, sure to some who don't know you, it seems like you do ask a lot of questions (because it is true) but  what you seem to then do is process all of that information slowly and you think about it a bit more, ask some more questions, rinse, repeat and then...one day, you start making some changes.

I am sure I am not alone in really enjoying watching you take these small steps to improve your health and your life and your future, you did it with your food though that still  needs more improvement and now you will get back into your exercise routine.
