My nephew wasn't born on US soil.  He was born in Berlin, Germany.  However, he is considered to be a "natural born" citizen because both of his parents are US citizens.

If only president Obama had two parents that were US citizens, that would be a parallel but, the president's father was not a US citizen at the time of his son's birth (and I'm not sure he ever became one). So, president Obama only has one parent who is a US citizen. I'm not sure but I think that negates the "parents are Americans" argument of the new "native born" definition.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

No Satyr, the law covers that as well...

quote:

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock

A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen, is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.) The U.S. citizen parent must be genetically related to the child to transmit U.S. citizenship.

i'm afraid that is not correct, he is considered a "natural born" citizen because at least one of his parents is a us citizen. the fact that both are is immaterial, all that is needed is one citizen parent.

Birth Abroad to Two U.S. Citizen Parents in Wedlock

A child born abroad to two U.S. citizen parents acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under section 301(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provided that one of the parents had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions prior to the child’s birth. The child is considered to be born in wedlock if the child is the genetic issue of the married couple.

read a little further.

all having 2 u.s. citizen parents does is change the residency requirements.

I cannot tell you how many times I have posted this information. Yes, I know the requirements for all these conditions. Obama birthers have made me quite proficient.

I think some birthers are like rhoids... they flare up now an again but its gonna be at least eight years before you can get rid of em. even then there will be constant reminders!!!

Even after President Obama finishes his second term and is long gone, the Birther fanatics will still be howling about this in hopes of canceling all his accomplishments retroactively. What we're seeing here is not racism: this is political absolutism - the principle (if one may call it that) that no one who isn't one of 'them' can possibly have any legitimate claim to political power. This country has descended to Star Chamber politics.

Thats what I meant about the constant reminders:)
I expect trump to run the birther/twat independent party

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/6/2012 11:27:58 PM)

Sad to say, but the only way we can get rid of these lunatics is for Mr Obama to either declare a State Of National Emergency and overturn Citizens United as a Clear And Present Danger to this nation's system of representative government, or to rigorously enforce the existing laws of the land, which would put the vast majority of Radicals in prison for real and legitimate crimes. Even sadder - he won't. There is no middle any more, but he just doesn't see it and won't act as the Commander in Chief should.

If one separated out the birth-place question alone and analyzed it only that way,one cold say they don`t see racism and they`d be right.

However, the birther weirdness comes for the same place the "secret terrorist Muslim plant" weirdness comes from as well as the ass-hats degrading him over his name race-baiting the president and using racial insults against him.

One can`t really separate out just the birther tangent from the smear any more that one can separate the orange flavor from the orange juice.

Fellow -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/7/2012 5:58:35 PM)

I wrote here previously that the "birthers" should close the issue. Personally I think, it is very likely Obama was born on Hawaii. We have "birthers", bigots etc. ... and we have cult Obama members. Let us do not forget that Obama presidential campaign, and the whole presidency, has very strong mass manipulation overtone. "Divide and conquer" is the name of the game. We can not underestimate Obama. The birth certificate issue is deliberately kept alive by Obama himself. Ask yourself: why did Obama publish his long form certificate on the government site as photo-shopped obvious fake. They are not stupid, they knew perfectly well it will be picked up for analysis. The only answer is: they need as many distractions as possible to steer public away from real issues and to create sympathy for Obama as a victim of "conspiracy".

Lucylastic -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/7/2012 6:05:17 PM)

why did Obama publish his long form certificate on the government site as photo-shopped obvious fake?

You have some kind of verification for that huh, or is this opinion ? Cos if it was proved to be a fake, the outcry would still be deafening.

Moonhead -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 4:53:16 AM)

Not necessarily: after three and half years of birther hysteria and teacup storms about teh Kenyan's provenance, it's quite possible that everybody would shrug and forget about it if they finally managed to prove that he wasn't an American citizen. That whole "boy who cried wolf", thing...

tazzygirl -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 4:54:20 AM)

I think people forget that he is a constitutional lawyer.

Moonhead -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 5:29:39 AM)

Or just can't accept that a Kenyan might be a member of the legal profession in their country: that's nearly as bad as the uppity tigger being a senator, or even the President, after all...

Sure, I do. I downloaded it myself [from government official site] and I checked it using Adobe Illustrator. You may look at Youtube: it is full of cheerful digital artists how smart they are discovering it. My point was: this was obviously the intent to release it this way. It was just an attempt to create more confusion rather than to solve the issue. CIA experts can make totally authentic-looking documents if needed.

Then what is his excuse for the way he keeps violating the Constitution

Actually its nonsense.

Take any document that uses different colors and fonts, scan it and load it into Photoshop. It will have multiple layers just like the Presidents BC.

tazzygirl -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 11:31:26 AM)

Out of curiosity, Fellow, since you have your fingers into so many sources, how does one invalidate a Presidency? And why would anyone believe that, if there were any truth to the birther's nonsense, why Hillary would not have jumped all over it?

Lucylastic -> RE: Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 11:34:55 AM)

I downloaded it myself, having illustrator, PLUS several other editing programmes dealing with the layers.....there is NO proof that it is a fake
NONE

The fact that your first link in your choice of wording, takes you to wikipedia that states
A recess appointment is the appointment, by the President of the United States, of a senior federal official while the U.S. Senate is in recess. The U.S. Constitution requires that the most senior federal officers must be confirmed by the Senate before assuming office, but while the Senate is in recess the President can act alone by making a recess appointment.
So HOW Is he VIOLATING anything, yet alone "AGAIN"
by the way, your title change, is an apt description of YOUR post.
exceedingly accurate. nice touch, seriously

Sanity -> RE: RE:Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 11:47:10 AM)

No lucy, my first link takes you to a plethora of links and the general trend is that reasonable people would agree that recess appointments while Congress is in session is an unprecedented power grab on the part of Obama

Lucylastic -> RE: RE:Bigotty bonkers birthers are baaa-aack. (1/8/2012 11:50:05 AM)

well I used YOUR link and used the TOP link
thats what it said
