benji- When the government wont enforce the law and protect the country someone has to. If Canada decided to invade the US and the government didn't do anything about it so the people did, then that isn't being a vigilante, and if it is it isn't being so in a negative way. Same here. You have those of another country illegally entering the US and the government isn't stopping them. So the people are doing their job to protect the country since the government wont. Protecting the country, along with the people removing an oppressive government, is the reason we have the second amendment to our constitution protecting our right to bare arms. So perhaps in a strict sense yes they are vigilantes in that they take the law into their own hands. Is that always a bad thing though? Not when the government wont do so as they are supposed to.
