ANTI-CHOICER: "I realize this is a conservative website... but the quote is from the Journal of Medical Ethics. That's just one quick link.... i didn't claim the belief was widespread... i was just using that belief for contrast. Those who believe in this type of infanticide believe it's the mother's choice and the government shouldn't be allowed to interfere with that right. Yet i'm guessing most pro-choicers in this country believe the government's responsibility to protect children trumps the mother's right to reproductive privacy. This is the same difference between pro-lifers believing in the unborn child's rights vs pro-choicer's belief that the mother's privacy is the prevailing issue. The only difference is we draw the line earlier in the child's existence. But to ignore that is our focus... our cause... because you (any you) disagree just isn't valid. HK: This is the same difference between anti-choicers believing in the parasitic clump of cells' rights vs pro-choicer's belief that the mother's FREEDOM is the prevailing issue. The only difference is we draw the line before the parasitic clump of cells can function without an attached umbilical cord. But to ignore that (that) is our focus... our cause... because you (any you) disagree just isn't valid. I simply refuse to use the loaded language the anti-choicers use to attempt to frame the discussion in their favor. Oh, we don't ignore your publicly stated "focus"... we simply understand that it is bullshit. As has been pointed out, you people could care less about the child (the Child is the entity that lives outside the body of it's mother); you're all about the CAUSE of anti-choice. And you all have absolutely NO scientific basis for using the Government (which, in the final analysis, is using the Threat of Force) to interfere with any woman's Freedom from Religion, Right to Privacy, or Body Sovereignty. You anti-choicers don't "draw the line earlier"; you don't draw a line at all. You don't distinguish between an actual child that has actually been born, and a fetus that may or may not become an actual child after being disconnected from the umbilical. We pro-Freedomers DO draw a line; the line I, and most (I cannot, nor do I presume to, speak for all) draw is this: if the "fetus" (I'm using this term for convenience) is unable to survive outside the body of the mother, it is not a child; it is a PCUC. If it is able to survive with medical assistance, but is still in the mother's body, it is a viable fetus, or a proto-child. If it is outside of the mother's body, and surviving, it is a child.
