The site I copied this insight from said Author unknown, so I had no idea who wrote it and I had no idea it was so controversial. I just thought it was a really great reflection of a thought, I found appealing. SOmething I couldnt put into to words and someone else did for me.

I believe you.  Most sites say the author is unknown.  Most search engines won't even find the correct author.  That is why I said it appears Michael P gave up protecting his copyright of the work many years ago.  Heck, this was controversial when it was first published in CompuServe.  As Michael said, there were over 1500 posts in that thread alone.

Here is what Michael P said about what he'd written several years after it first appeared in the CompuServe forums.

This essay was written in February 1994 and posted to the Compuserve Human Sexuality/Variations II© message board then later into the library with the copyright after I was asked what my personal perceptions and thoughts on dominance were. It started quite a ruckus even though I had a lengthy and I thought clear preamble explaining that it was gender specific and only related to me. It was and is a personal statement and not intended to be a Dominant Manifesto or pontification. There were roughly 1500 messages on that thread before it died out. Had I known my clearly stated personal perceptions were somehow open to dissection and critique I probably would have refrained from posting it. In the six years these words have been on Compuserve© they have been reprinted at least 12 times that I know of. Some were with my copyright and authorship acknowledged, some without and others with another person claiming authorship. On one occasion a Gor related site refused to accept my claim so I had to sic Compuserve© on them and their ISP. When faced with a legal date stamp and the Bern Convention copyright and the clauses pertaining to original intellectual works published on the net they wisely corrected the situation.

Anyone who thinks these words say what they feel can certainly use them. Do keep in mind that the internet, as large as it is, isn't a place so large that ideas get lost. Quite the opposite is true. If you use the thoughts of another then say they are those of another, like you'd present a poem or a quote. A gift as well as the seriousness and sanctity of D/s are cheapened with lies. It certainly shows what the real content of character is if words given as coming from the heart are seen later as coming from deceit.

I am a little bit confused because there was no where in chatterbox24's post that they said they wrote it. They never claimed to be the author of the writing.

Which causes me to wonder, not specifically in this case as I've no idea...........but about unrealistic expectations in relationships. And if SOME people turn to power exchange relationships thinking that there are better people, better relationships to be had, simply because their expectations of vanilla relationships were unrealistic and never met.

I think a large chunk of D/s relationships fail because people have unrealistic, over romanticized expectations. They somehow think that the same realities that face vanilla relationship cease to exist in D/s. That somehow, the people are more honorable. It's simply not true.

That said, I'm also sure that most of those same people would also have unrealistic expectations out of a vanilla relationships.

JanahX -> RE: THe Dominant Man (4/27/2012 11:38:41 AM)

I hate shit like this - I translate it as: what a load of bullshit. And someone with one fuck of an ego -

I cant tell you how many guys start off telling me - I am Dominant, I am an Alpha Male -

Really? Im glad you think so -
The guys that I have met that I actually do view as having a dominant personality, NEVER state this -not even CLOSE.

Its almost as sickening as that Anais Nin quote.

I know of one submissive who left her Dom because he could not read her mind like she thought he was supposed to do.

Very romantic. Romance is good. Cute, exceptionally fluffy but cute.

thanks for posting this OP. sure, it's flowery - this is what the Oprah version would be like if BDSM was mainstream.

Actually, I would imagine that Oprah would be quite disgusted at the gender bias.

not if she took it in context. written by a man, who likes women, period.

not everything can be metro-sexed PC-fied.

LaTigresse -> RE: THe Dominant Man (4/27/2012 11:56:35 AM)

The context was overly generalized and fucked up at best.

I am actually being generous.

Exactly. My idea of romance isn't flowery prose. It's when he turns on the game he knows I want to watch, or making a paddle with my butt in mind for its target.

ResidentSadist -> RE: THe Dominant Man (4/27/2012 12:05:27 PM)

Well call me Mr Fluffy and put bunny ears on me (I know, Poise & Hibby bait) but I like romantic fluffy things things... like ... like bleeding & crying.

Crying is romantic . . .
Have you ever seen a slave love her Master so deeply that she cries from the emotional release after a good beating? Have you ever seen a slave feel so passionate that she crosses the pleasure/pain threshold and cums so intensely that it makes her weep? Have you ever seen trust so deep and complete that tears flow when she follows Master faithfully and overcomes her fears?

Crying is sexy . . .
Tear filled eyes big as saucers, looking up at you. Cheap mascara stains trailing down over her cheeks. A tear hangs precariously in the balance from her pouting, swollen and quivering lips. A trickle of blood and cum leak from the corner of her mouth as a testament to the violent sex. She is sex personified and her face and the tears upon it bear evidence as proof to the sacrifice she has just made for passion. She is someone that gave it all until she cried.

I like it when they cry . . .
I thrive on the connection, the bonds between a Master and slave and between a sadist and masochist. I love seeing the look on my slave's face when I see that I control her and what she is feeling. I like to cross Masterism with sadism while I explore emotional fears, expand physical limits, break mental boundaries and fulfill forbidden desires. I passionately mix love, torture, sex, fear, pleasure, pain, anguish, lust, trust and I test faith. I want to see tears of joy, tears of pain, tears of love, tears of pleasure and tears from fear... I like it when they cry.

Cry for me.

You are correct.  Chatterbox said the author was unknown.  I gave the name of the auther and then added what the author, Michael P said about his little essay.

Has anyone told You that You are a perv? I truly respect that about You Ya' know.

Retro edit: One good capping deserves another. Is the 'y' in ya' supposed to be a cap?
Second retro edit: There were more 'y's than I thought.

I'll never now how anyone survives slashy speak.. I can barely make it through the caps protocol.

Luv You LaT.

oh, i thought what just happened was that i said it's the Oprah version of BDSM

and you said no she wouldn't support it cus it's gender bias

and i corrected you by reminding you that it's written by a man who likes women, period. the only gender bias was you confusing that (who's POV its written from).

and now, you wish to change the subject, and say it's overly generalized and fucked up at best.

meh, your generalized criticism is too generalized.

LaTigresse -> RE: THe Dominant Man (4/27/2012 12:28:46 PM)

Ya know, trying to have a reasonable discussion with you reminds me of the years I would attempt it with my exhusband, when he was completely wasted.

Arguing in circles and accomplishing nothing productive.

A waste of time.

So you will have to forgive me when I do not reply to the posts you attempt to direct towards me.
