Dude I think you should reconsider focusing exclusively on newbs because quite a number can be fakes that are soon to be deleted or just testing the D/s waters. Seasoned members will often know what they want to a much greater extent and probably be more willing to play in RL. Also munches tend to be pretty respectful affairs. I've never heard of doms pulling rank Story of O-ish style but then again I haven't attended them in your part of the world. quote:
ORIGINAL: eliotRosewster As I said before, yes they do and don't have tone. You glanced over this part of the message where I admitted that yes, they do. I'm going to give you a list of words. You tell me which tones they produce. If you are correct and words produce a tone, you should be able to tell me what tone they produce. Apple Banana Shit Tower Butternut squash Run Smoke But you won't be able to tell me what tones those words produce. Single words produce no tone. It's how those words that are arranged which give it any tone whatsoever. Even still going from zero tone in a single word to some sort of tone in a sentence they have room for interpretation. The reader can put their own spin on the tone. Something that wasn't intended to be accusational might become son. They do not have the same tone as talking does. Talking has a clear tone, you can tell if somebody is angry or happy, regardless of what words they are saying. Words do not have the same tone as talking. The point wasn't so much made about single words as you used sentences in the message, and most of those words you picked here are nouns that would have a neutral meaning because they are simply things, except maybe shit as in which clearly has a hostile tone. Of course thats a swear word but many conventional words can have a distinctive tone, e.g. "actually" has a corrective feel to it that when used in various contexts can be unpleasant. I agree though that there is a lot of interpretation from the reader as well.
