To earn that $50,000 in capital gains, at average 8% stock market returns, that American would need to invest $625,000.

Holy fuck... what part if "INVESTING" is unclear to you?!!  Do you actually think when someone elects to "invest", that they QUIT THEIR FUCKING JOB to do so?!!  Talk about irrational thinking?!!  Hint:  Most take some money (you got that... SOME money) and... <drum roll>... INVEST it in something they believe will bring a return.  Got that?!!

Good GAWD?!! [8|]

Your rant is challenging the 15% vs. 35% difference. To earn the 15% in any meaningful amount, they'd have to primarily invest--like Nick does. The bulk of their income is still going to be at earned income rates.

Got that?

Sorry...what lie is that? He's talking about Bush's plan to privatize SS. History, you know?

Whose sockpuppet are you?

Another drooling Komodo Dragon shown up to commiserate with LA MasterBendOver.

Welcome to the club, the world seems to be going your way, at present.

What nonsensical blather... first you whine about people not having any money, and then you put forth that people can ONLY invest at the amounts millionaires do?!!  Good GAWD... get a friggin' grip on reality already!!!  Pssst... I've made tens of thousands of dollars WITHOUT having to invest this nonsensical $625,000 amount YOU keep throwing out there!!! [8|]

Indeed. If only people knew tripling their money was this easy.

[8|]

You keep ignoring the point about primarily vs. partly earning through capital gains, so again, you aren't really having a debate, just a tantrum.

Just not buying the rest.

tantrum

That's pretty much all you've offered with this nonsensical blathering about having to invest (i) $625,000, and (ii) at the level MILLIONAIRES do.  [8|]

Musicmystery -> RE: The True Job Creators (5/23/2012 11:29:33 PM)

I'm glad, after 10 pages, you finally get that millionaires and regular Americans don't get to invest at the same level.

MasterSlaveLA -> RE: The True Job Creators (5/23/2012 11:49:12 PM)

And I'm stunned that after 10 pages you actually put forth this nonsensical blathering about having to invest (i) $625,000, and (ii) at the level MILLIONAIRES do.   Little more than typical whiney-Lefty sobbing...  a million excuses for their OWN failures, coupled with being either too lazy or chicken-shit (or both) to take any risks -- but dammit, when OTHERS have profited from RISKING THEIR MONEY, well... that's "just not fair", and your ilk demands it be taken from them.  How pathetic. [:'(]

Oh, since you missed it the first time... once again, I'm not a "millionaire", but HAVE MADE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WITHOUT HAVING TO INVEST $625,000 -- and so can EVERYONE else.  Got it this time?!! [8|]

Musicmystery -> RE: The True Job Creators (5/23/2012 11:56:13 PM)

Hmm. Let's see. I'm successful, and not complaining. Nick is incredibly successful, and not complaining. You're doing a crap load of complaining.

Reality is---Trickle down doesn't work. Never did. Never will.

Throw all the red herrings you like. Changes nothing.

When consumers can spend, the economy benefits. They are 2/3 of the economy.

To get the economy roaring again, to get the job creation engine started, that's where we need to look. Giving the top still more only exacerbates the problem--for the top as well, as the OP points out.

And all without childish whining or name-calling. I like that about Nick.

...a crap load of...

CORRECTING... because you've obviously got some REALLY strange ideas about who can invest and who can't.

Edwynn -> RE: The True Job Creators (5/24/2012 12:03:04 AM)

You are arguing with a guy that wears a "Spank Me, Fuck Me" t-shirt at all times, just so you know.

Once again--there's a world of difference between making a few thousand and earning your living from it. That's the difference between paying 15% and 35% in the sense the OP notes.

Your case is irrelevant. I've made $300,000. Changes nothing. Few people can make their entire living on capital gains, and so they can't pay the 15% on that income across the board the way Nick can.

And as I'd stated on Page 1... it ain't gonna happen.  If you're so CERTAIN of Nicky-Numb-Nuts' theory, then empty your bank account and head off to Wal-Mart tomorrow on your job-boosting spending-spree -- we can then examine the unemployment numbers next month to see who was right.

Actually, I'm building a house instead...employing an architect, a GC, a plumber, an electrician, an excavator...

Oh, so NOW that you've realized that ANYONE can benefit from the 15% Capital Gains rate (just as I've stated repeatedly), suddenly THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU -- NOW your issue is everyone MUST make "their entire living" off Capital Gains?!!  Fuck, make up your mind already?!!

One again, the lower Capital Gains rate is to ENCOURAGE INVESTMENT... sorry if that upsets your apple-cart, but in order to ENCOURAGE INVESTMENT, there has to be some INCENTIVE -- the lower 15% Cap Gains tax rate is exactly that incentive.  And BTW... nobody is stopping you from making your living "entirely" off investments but YOU.  Learn to be a better investor and you'll be able to do just that.  It's not my thing... but again, nobody is stopping YOU from doing it.

And in New York, when the time comes to sell it some day, I'm sure you'll do WELL on the "Capital Gains" from that sale.

Edited to add:  Hopefully you got a "Mike Holmes" level GC... that guy is FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Musicmystery -> RE: The True Job Creators (5/24/2012 12:22:44 AM)

If you did anything besides rant, you've have known from page one I have no problem with the capital gains tax.

Living off investments "is not your thing" because you don't have the cash to do it. Neither do most people. That's why they pay earned income rates.

If someone posted the sky is blue, you'd argue it's green, with a pile of name-calling to cover your own lunacy.

Wrong... I LIKE what I do and have no desire to play the markets 24/7.

The only one "ranting" here is YOU when anyone dares to question the stupidity of Nicky-Boi's theory.
